okay so

a Quasar is the very center of an entire galaxy. it's extremely luminous, and it's slowly powered onto black holes that are a billion times heavier than any celestial object in earth's range.

the most powerful Quasars have luminosities that can range from as much as the base level for us, to hundreds of thousands of times our milky way. (mind you, for years it was thought that the milky way was on the higher range of luminosity)

In physics, there's a phenomenon known as a redshift-- basically a decrease in wavelength that we measure using the visible spectrum (you know that rainbow graph that ranges from ultraviolet to infared?) and the origin of a Quasar's redshift stems from cosmological origin!!

and before I finish up, the very name came from the affix "star-like" radio source, because quasars were first identified during the 1950's as a radio transmission of unknown origin. these things are space crusties.

anyways! i love quasars. i love space, and i love supermassive astronomical objects that can swallow me and not bat an eye. i learnt about quasars through research for an oc, and I still have it bookmarked in her folder lol
