STRANGER IN THE MIRROR

. Chapter 2 . The gentleman who could not get his eyes off Diana extended his hand to shake hers "Am Jay, Jason and you are? " Diana extended her hand but couldn't say her name, what she was seeing was stunning. He smiled at her and she could feel her whole body run out of blood. His smile was magnificent and his eyes were glassy, as if glazed with some glitters of silver. "Having fun? " he asked "Di.. a... na , Thats my.. my name Diana" she stammered and Jason smiled sending her into another trance "Are you enjoying ? " he asked "Yeah" she answered looking at the pulpit to dodge his stare which was making her look and sound so stupid. She felt embarrassed "You are beautiful" he said Diana gawked at him, her eyes now fixed on him. She was brought back to life as the crowd started marching out, how did the sermon end so quickly "Here you are" said Jason dipping his hand inside the inner pocket of his jacket. "Oh my! " exclaimed Diana "a nepeta" she said breathlessly "Ground ivy" he said handing it to her Diana received it with a gleam of excitement "Thank you" she said smilling widely Jason stood and left, Diana followed him outside the church. He entered a BMW that was parked near the entrance, she wanted to see who else was going to enter the vehicle so that she could calculate her chances "What are you doing here starring at people stupidly? " It was unmistakably her mother "Mom! " she said trying to sound and look normal "Let's go home, am hungry" she grumbled "Yes mom, let me just have a word with Alice and Sandra, I told you not to come" There is noway she was going to keep her church experience to herself. "What business do you have with married women? " she mocked, knowing very well that they were agemates Soon Sandra and Alice came out with Alice's husband walking beside her . Diana pulled the girls to a less noisier place, a few centimetres from the crowd. "Guys Jason, Jay" she said excitedly as if to remind them "What? Who is Jay, mind you am the bride and am supposed to be as close to my husband as possible especially today. All eyes are on me" said Alice with a smile, conscious of the cameras around, people didn't seem to get enough of her photos. We can't blame them, Alice had looked extremely beautiful "Okey" started Diana " I had sat on this bench at the back in the church and then this,,,, " "Diana just summarise" interuppted Alice who was so eager to leave "Or maybe its a long story for another day? " asked Sandra "No, wait" said Diana pulling Alice back "am in love with him, he even gave me a flower" She quickly opened her handbag and groped the flower which she had carefully placed on top of everything in the bag. She removed it and showed them but to her dismay only Sandra was standing with her, Alice had left, she had join to join her hubby "So you are in love with him? " asked Sandra "Yes" answered Diana with a generous smile "What about Daniel? "Asked Sandra " ahh that one" is all Diana could say Earlier that year she had fallen in love with a stranger called Daniel. She was very happy about the fact both their names started with the same letter and that they have the letters a, i and n which she believed was too much to be a coincident. She believed that they were soulmates. However to Daniel Daiana didn't exist . Its very likely that he had never seen her before. On the other hand , Diana had seen Daniel only once at the supermarket , she had followed him closely upon seeing him, watching and admiring him until his friend called him by name. It was then that she got to know his name. Diana had hoped that the supernatural powers would be upon her and enable her to prophetically know Daniel's number atleast that was her prayer at the moment. When it failed to happen she had hoped that Daniel's friend would somehow just say Daniel's number out loudly , just saying it, even though for no good reason but it never happened. She followed him until he entered a car and she mastered the number plate, for future use. She went to the supermarket everyday , the same time hoping to bump into him but she never saw him again. Her love for him was so overwhelming, she decided to simply date him mentally. So she formally pronounced herself Daniel's girlfriend to both Alice and Sandra. She had been in that relationship since then. Sometimes she would complain about how much she missed him, how much he was uncaring . She struggled for the past months to get over him but it seemed impossible,. However that morning she had woken up burden free and standing in front of Sandra thats when she remembered the feeling of freedom she had experienced in the morning. She had finally gotten over Daniel. She believed that the supernatural hand had freed her from the bondage of that relationship so she could fall in love again, Jason Very crazy , but not to Sandra. Sandra understood what its like to be in a one sided relationship, to love someone who doesn't even know you exist. Throughout her childhood, she was subjected intensely to phillipino and korean romantic series. So she had grown fond of most of the characters. This continued even throughout her teenhood and even in marriage. She had fallen in love with the character Jumpyo in a korean series; Boys over flowers She was captivated by his everything, his charisma, his voice, laughter, smile, face, height, complexion, hair , just everything. She had wanted a husband just like Jumpyo, she turned down all proposals in hope of a man like Jumpyo turning up. But he never did , he never turned up. When it dawned on her that she was in Zambia, a land of black people, she was very hurt, she found it hard to lower the standards of her ideal man, until age begun to catch up with her . She had compromised and picked a Zambian man for marriage. However Jumpyo was still her display picture on whatsap, on the screen saver and on the phone wall paper. According to the girls, that was the smartest way of cheating, because no husband would suspect anything and care about another man being your display picture, as long as he is a white from a movie. Therefore Sandra understood Diana's situations very well. . To Be Continued

So tonight, Neighbour walked pass me and I noticed red lipstick on his mouth. It was horizontal, very impossible to miss... he was supposed to be coming back from work, while main chick has been in the kitchen since evening, killing the whole compound with serious aroma of chicken and real Jollof. I did not tell him sha. It wasn't like I was jealous oo, but dude should step cheating joor😐 . Babe stormed out and left few minutes later and I felt like I won a lottery😈 I will not wake up to anyone speaking in tongues while I count the ceiling around 2am. #SAYNOTOCHEATING.
