Honestly as a blind person I’m so tired of seeing fictional blind characters who don’t use white canes or other guides. “They have special powers so they know what’s around them” or “they’re confident enough to not need a guide” are common tropes, and I’m tired.
Are people scared that using a white cane will make their blind character seem weak? They can’t use a cane because they’re so special that they already know what’s around them, and other blind people who use guides are inferior because they’re not special?
I’m tired. Give your blind characters white canes and other guides. Let them hold onto their friends, let them have guide dogs. Don’t make white cane users feel ostracized for not being “strong enough” to go without.
Another thing that pisses me off is when a sighted character comes up with the fantasy equivalent of braille and teaches it to the blind character. Braille was invented by Louis Braille, a blind man, in 1824. The blind character should be the one coming up with it.
Tldr I’m blind and tired of sighted people lol

Fanfic Writer Friday (FFWF)
Alright fellow fanfic friends, it’s Friday, the best day of the week, and it’s about to get a lot more fun. Ya know why?
Reblog this post if you want people to send you asks about your writing process, wip/fics, or headcanons today! For each ask you get, send and ask back in return!
This is a weekly event, to be held every Friday (obviously) and is open to all fanfic writers in any fandom! Don’t be shy about sending asks to blogs you don’t know—this is a great way for writers to get to know different blogs and fics, and make new friends!
(in case you feel like you’ve seen something like this before, this is based of of writeblr’s Storyteller Saturday, aka STS!)

Weekly Writeblr Roll Call
Okay! New Year, New vigor for ask games! I know about STS, MGM, and WBW, feel free to add on with other weekly ask games I’ve forgotten/don’t know about
Monday
Meet and Greet Monday (MGM): (ask blog is @stsmgm ) An ask game geared towards your OCs! Answer in character (if you like, I’m personally hit or miss about it lol) so we can all get to know your darlings. Think of it like a mixer, where we’re all wandering around to each other’s ask boxes, with interview/get to know you style questions for all our characters to answer
Moodboard Mondays was brought to my attention, and I assume its exactly what it sounds like
Tuesday
Tender Tuesday: (Ask blog is @tendertuesdayasks ) An ask game for romance writers! Send asks geared towards the softer (or steamier) side of writing. Can be for characters to answer or writers themselves, this ask event is all about the feels
Wednesday
Worldbuilding Wednesday (WBW): (Askblog is @worldbuildingwedasks ) This is for all you worldbuilders out there! Questions to make a writer think/give them a chance to gush about some of their favorite bits of worlbuilding lore.
Thursday
I’m not sure, outside of Throwback Thursday, which I don’t think is very big in writeblr?
ETA @homesteadchronicles runs Author Thursday for more meta asks about you as the author and your processes
Friday
Again, I’m not sure? I think Funny Ask Friday was a thing for a while, and I believe Friendship Friday tried to be a thing for more platonically geared writers? someone fill me in here
ETA: @joyful-soul-collector does Fanfic Friday which I clearly need to look into since I’ve started writing fanficion :P
and of course, Flash Fiction Friday at @flashfictionfridayofficial
Saturday
Storyteller Saturday (STS): (Ask blog is @stsmgm ) The one that started it all, Storyteller Saturday! This event is the most open of them all, for all kinds of storyteller questions. Ask about WIPs, writing habits/styles, characters, world lore, anything!
Sunday
Sunday Romance: I don’t remember if this is associated with @tendertuesdayasks or not? I kinda fell off when the winter holidays retail rush consumed my will to live, let alone write :P Again, someone fill me in on how that’s going
EDIT: I am a doofus, I JUST saw that it’s @sunday-romance Nice and obvious :P anyways, they post really rad prompts geared towards romance writing
And @reininginthefirewriting does a weekly community challenge under the tags #writeblr community challenge and #wcc
(btw, if any of you want to send me little write ups for your events listed here, feel free!)

Hello! I know I have been inactive for a while but I am planning being more active.
To start it off I'll be discussing the two new projects I'm working on at the moment.
1. A queer noir film. I love noir but because of when noir was prevalent and queer rep wasnt, there arent a lot that are clearly stated. So I'm changing that myself. A private eye goes to investigate a murder at a local queer bar and catches the eye of the drag queen star or the business. Can they avoid the questioning eyes of the police and the dangers of the mafia that oen the bar? Find out in the screenplay that I've not named yet!
And 2. In 1983, three high school boys go to an abandoned church and aggravate an old spirit. Can they avoid its wrath before the deaths start to rack up? This is based on when me and my mom went to a spooky abandoned church, but with an 80s horror film take on it.
Tell me if any of you would be interested in seeing more of th4se works.
Also! This does not mean I am forgetting my other projects, I still will be working on those.

Last line tag!
Thank you @raevenlywrites for the tag, anyone can do it if you want to.
After pulling on some plastic gloves he dug into the small hole one of the bullets had gone through and managed to extract it, repeating the same process with the hole that had gone lower into the wall.
Not too exciting but who knows.

Happy Meet and Greet Monday! How would your characters answer the question "So what do you like to do for fun? Any interesting hobbies, or...?"
Margaret: "I like to listen to music and tend to my greenhouse"
Charles: "I like to read and paint"
Thank you for the ask! I promise I am not dead and that I am active. I am currently working on more works that I will be talking about later.

Its Storyteller Saturday! What kind of dedication would you write for your current WIP?
Honestly I dont know. I've never been one for dedications and it's gotten complicated since a lot of my books (make that all) have queer rep in it, thatd feel weird to dedicate it to my parents cause they arent exactly supportive.
And I recently lost my grandmother, which I do want to dedicate my works to her. But still the same issue. That wasnt something she was ok with.
I'm sorry, this was more angsty and personall then was neccessary but yeah, to answer the question, I dont know at the moment but that could change.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! Do your characters ever argue with you? Or reveal bits and pieces of themselves slowly? How independent are your characters from you, how alive? Do you enjoy it, or could you prefer it another way?
On occasion yeah. Originally Margaret wasnt bi but there is a scene where she wakes up after drinking and finds herself in bed with someone who was originally a man. But then I was like what if it wasnt a guy.
They are apart of me but have their own thought processes. With a lot of characters I write I over empathize with them, or I think too much like them. But with margaret and charles, they think really differently.
I dont know if I like or dislike that, because its definitely interesting and I'm curious if it will make my writing any better for it. I dont think I'd like to change how it is except if they would speak dialogue better then I write it.

Happy Meet and Greet Monday! How would characters respond to being asked to do something they CAN do but dont WANT to do (like coming to work on their day off, or helping someone move furniture, where they're technically able but would very much rather not)
Margaret would simply not do it depending on who the person is, if its apart of the mob family then maybe but mostly no.
Charles would cause hes kind of a push over in not serious cases like the ones listed. If it mattered in the slightest he might not.
Thanks for the asks! I'm slowly but surely responding to the back log.

“reblogs aren’t important you’re just whiny”
yeah because when you see this
Tumblr media
tell me you don’t get annoyed.
tumblr’s algorithm only cares about posts that are reblogged, it doesn’t count likes. posts don’t get promoted or circulated when they only have likes (the way instagram functions), only reblogs matter for increasing reach on tumblr as a platform.
support content creators.
