Can we like, as a community agree to, when we have some semblance of power in this world, that we will bring back Third Spaces?

If you don’t know what a Third Space is, a place that isn’t work, or home or school. It’s a place where people congregate just to socialize. This can be a Coffee Shop, Rollerblading Rink, Parks, Parking Lots, Etc. Anywhere that the primary function isn’t to go to work but to sit and enjoy another person’s company in some way.

Can we somehow get rid of loitering and stigmas of teens hanging out in groups as bad?

Can we somehow agree that a gaggle of friends sitting outside of a donut shop or hanging out together in a parking lot at night while everyone sits on their cars isn’t something nefarious?

Can we somehow encourage just…people time.

I get how these things get harder every day, with our climate, our social structures and our lives all being difficult but- It’s not going to get any easier if we don’t try and connect again.

I miss it so much. I miss it so much it hurts because those moments you don’t get back. You don’t get summers anymore where you just talk to people for days on end while walking on the tracks or hanging out on front porches.

And those moments aren’t just for teenagers. Those are for everyone. Kids, Teens, Adults and Elders. We all need our third spaces. We all need a place where no one expects anything from us and we just have somewhere to exist with other people.

I don’t have a lot of money and I don’t have a lot of power being poverty class but there are so many of us. We could totally take back our space. Those of us who can just need to do it.

You can just see that fire pressed under her overall calming appearance from the frown and the determination in her eyes. Beatrice promised Ava that she’ll be there every step of the way with her, and she is gonna make sure that is exactly what happens.
