Taronga Zoo Animals Recieve Christmas Gifts

Taronga Zoo celebrated Christmas early giving Christmas-themed environmental activities to the zoo’s Giraffes, Sun Bears, Meerkats, Aldabra Tortoise and Cockatoos providing a wonderful natural display for zoo visitors.

Today I went and checked out Gregory Crewdson at the Contemporary Centre for Contemporary Photography here in Melbourne.  I didn't dig a lot of his work, but some of the shots were fantastic (like the ones pictured above.) I can't say I'm the hugest fan of this over dramatised, theatrical approach to photography and constructing scenes. But for some reason I found these ones really captivating, maybe the message behind the work spoke to me. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for Americana, either way they're great.  Inexplicably I was really drawn to the car shots  Worth a look, the exhibition is free.

Yesterday was my birthday and I went to life drawing. This is what my brain did with the visuals.

I always like lying around and listening to the rain. Rain is cleansing, it's a rush of tiny cold drops of clarity that create this hazy aura. That's kind of irony right? Rain's ironic. People generally don't like the rain, they always run from it. Nobody strolls in the rain, everyone is jogging, sprinting, cantering, galloping. Bleat. I just wanna wrap people up and say "hey man, the rain's alright! it'll pass, so try and enjoy the moment" but they're all too busy jogging, sprinting, cantering, galloping. Bleat...

the only thing you win from beating the rain is knowing that the street got wet and you didn't.

I’m currently siting at the Lort Smith animal hospital waiting for my best bud in the whole world to come out from his surgery. It got me thinking about how much I love my dog. When I’m overseas I miss him as much as anything. I’ve taught him everything he knows and I’ve never had a warmer handshake. Wendel, you’re the best dog a guy could ask for. Xx
