I felt so conflicted today since it was Father’s day…

My own dad is a piece of shit and I haven’t spoken to him in years.

I did text my Mom’s boyfriend (who I’ve been calling my step-dad to explain it easier to other people) a good day.

But he’s not my Dad and I’m still a bit scared of him due to my mother’s three failed marriages before him with the assholes she’s been with in the past.

Even with the reassurances that he’s a good guy, he won’t harm my mother, I still can’t fully trust him 100%

It took me a year before I properly met him and another year to trust him to a degree.

I can’t live in fear for forever, I know that, but every day I’m getting better
