Had the chance to wear my victorian goth gown once again last weekend.
It's one of my oldest historical dresses ever, I made it 20 years ago for my first WGT (Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig, Germany) - after I've finally had the chance to visit (took me almost a decade) so I wanted something special to wear.
The patterns for this one are historically accurate for around 1880s, the fabrics mostly as well (cotton velvet and plain cotton) but the trims not so much, and of course - not with the make-up and white wig :D - but it was intended as a goth bustle gown in the first place and not a historical reproduction so - I will always have fun with styling it like I want.
The dress has several more pieces that can be combined - I have a so called polonaise bodice (this one is long enough to have the draped part attached to it) and a short sleeved ball bodice - the draped overskirt is separate on this version as well, I need to replace the current one with a more elaborate one, I already fixed some mistakes and changed the trims since I wasn't a professional tailor yeat when I made this gown, so I wanted to have it perfect now ...
We were visiting a renaissance villa in Nuremberg last weekend.

OOTD - 07.03.2025
Just wanted to share today's outfit with you
Always thought posts like that were stupid but - I have to admit, it's actually good fun :D - just old fart things ... watch with music on TikTok, if you like :)
https://www.tiktok.com/@adrian.stahl/video/7479143708651212054 However - this is a bit of a mash up of different 90s goth things:
coat: a genuine leather coat I found on Vinted - had a similar one in the late 90s but that one was fake leather and that stuff disinterates after a few years, so - I try to avoid it with things I want to keep for the next decades.
long velvet tunic - genuine 90s from the german alt brand "Inter-Moden" - I wore stuff like that a lot in the 90s but I gave most of it away and now I regret that so much ... so I stalk platforms like Ebay, Vinted and others to get some stuff back - or add things to my collection that I wanted as a teen goth, but couldn't afford
skinny trousers: made by me, my shape doesn't work with off the rack trousers (men's don't come in super tiny sizes and women's have too much room for hips - that I don't have, and I hate altering 101 standard mass produced clothing) - so I constructed the pattern to my measurements
not pictured: overknee boots with pointed tips - I had a pair in the 90s that I loved so much, although they weren't fashionable back then and I got bullied for wearing them - never cared. Got a genuine leather pair from Vinted because I missed my old ones ;) ( I filmed spontaneously in the house so - no boots on the footage, sorry)
80s cotton scarf with silver threads - again something I wore a lot in the 90s, they weren't exactly fashionable any more in the 90s but they still were popular in goth subculture and with other alt folks, plus - I am a magpie and love shiny things ;) I still have some of my old ones but they are pretty worn out, so I spent a long time searching for a new scarf and finally found it a few weeks ago
Glasses: don't knwo where I found them, could be at WGT - 15-20 years ago, I have quite a collection of round sunglasses ... I don't leave the house without one

hey I just wanted to ask, how do you find motivation so sew? i'm trying to get into it more but just find myself to burned out and tired to even try
Well - I just have to - I'm a professional tailor and I sew for a living, so my situation is a bit different, but I admit that some days, it's not easy to get things done, but I think, that's just very human :) And sometimes, it's also hard to do private projects when you've been at the sewing machine the whole day long already. But maybe I have some suggestions for you: - first of all: take it slow. Find a small project that doesn't take up too much time, and isn't too complicated - and remind yourself that you will have a unique item that no one else has and that can't be bought at the store. Doesn't matter if it's maybe not perfectly sewn but - it is yours alone! - collect inspirations. Maybe a pinterest board or a collection on your computer (or phone - sorry, I'm old :D ) - or print out your favourites and pin them physically to a wall in your house/room.
-Watch tutorials - learn about different fabric types and technical terms - even if you don't have the energy to actually sew, this will help you a lot in the long term - like understanding instructions of patterns - just do a seam or two at a time. I do that a lot with private projects when I don't have enough time for them (which happens a lot) - it's slow but any progress is good. Leve the piece you're working on in sight, so you don't forget about it. Hope that helps a bit :)

Did a little midnight sewing while watching trashy horror movies last week - to use up a few remnants of that burgundy stretch velvet because it was too much to throw it in the bin. And here's the result - the design is very much 90s romantic goth (the decade and the goth style that brought me into the subculture over 30 years ago now) Looks like I have a bit of a burgundy phase at the moment - I made a few more things in that colour that I will show you soon. Normally, I prefer purple :D The skirt is thrifted. The tunic - like I said - made by me, pattern also professionally drafted by me. Purely a private project, nothing I have listed in my shop so far.
I'll make some better pictures when it's warmer outside, making phitos inside is always a bit difficult (this is done on one of my old Canon DSLRs with remote shutter)

Pluton the Pallas's Cat 😻
Behold a rare fluffy guest—the charming Pluton, son of Mania and Borys, from the Poznań Zoo!
Pluton is absolutely gorgeous: friendly-shaped, big-eyed kawaii, and plushy charming—like a sweet kitty straight out of a painting! 🥹
But don’t be fooled: his keepers say Pluton is spirited, temperamental, and a fierce wild fellow. He is the dread of mice and quails! In short, he is a true manul! 🔥
Pluton resides in a section of the zoo that is closed to visitors.
We are grateful to the Poznań Zoo for the unique opportunity to see and photograph this fluffy marvel to share with you! ❤️

Sad to hear of David Lynchs passing today.
He really was a genius and I always was a big fan of his work. I even love his "Dune" movie, despite the critique - which I think is reasonable, but this movie hold a special place in my heart and I absolutely love the set and costume design of this one.
"Twin Peaks" was groundbreaking in many ways, not only as the inspiration for the later X-Files.

Hello! Saw you in the Goth community and noticed you are a tailor! I just recently gotten into sewing and designing and was wondering if you had any tips for beginners?? 🤍🥀
Hello! Yes, that's right :)
I think, the most important thing for a beginner is: be precise, take it slow, don't skip steps like ironing seams or basting pieces together - sewing is, like a lot of things, mostly a matter of practise.
Start with easy things, practise making perfectly straight seams - and then, try the next difficult thing. Is there anything specific you'd like to know?

Nosferatu Vibes
Another snippet from my "Raven Chant" video - watch it here, if you want :)
Thought it fitted the topic (and I learn to use DaVinci Resolve a bit better with plaing around) I haven't seen the new movie yet, I know the original, silent movie, and I think I have sometime long ago also seen the 1979 one with Klaus Kinski - I remember a friend gifted me the poster from that one about 20+ years ago ... I think I still have it, just put away since I don't have the space here ...
Have you seen the new one yet? Or do you know the older movies, too?

Raven Chant (Of The Wand and the Moon)
Made a video for the song in summer (2024) for university, for film and photo-design. And for the occasion, I dug out my old hoop skirt and some romantic goth stuff I used to wear back then ... the headdress is new and yes, also made by me ... super happy about how it turned out and I have to admit - I still like to wear that stuff, when I feel like it, of course.
If you want to see the whole video - here it is!
youtube
And let me know what you think about it :) (this old GenX fart is just happy that he got the best possible grade for it - feels amazing after last year was overall a bit - meh.

Finally - face masks are up on Etsy. I added a klingon design as well 😁 I know, I'm really late with that and I initially said, I wont sell masks at all - due to various reasons, but let's see what happens, if there's no further demand for them any more, I still can take the listings down again. #starfleetuniform #startrek #startreknerd #startretos #facemask #smallbusiness #handmade #thetimetravelingsewingcase #designer #etsy #estyseller https://www.instagram.com/p/CA3IREFHA_X/?igshid=ptjg4a22rv1c

Are you ready for some more Cat content? Comic Con Prague was great, met Danny John-Jules, who was just amazing and more than nice - we could talk a little bit at the signing session since I was so early that no one else was already queuing - lucky me! He liked my Cat so much that he asked his wife to make a few pictures of us together, sent them to me immediately, and signed my official photoshoot picture of us two as well, not only the one I had for the autograph. Rocked the cosplay contest as well 😸 - great being on stage again after 15 years, really missed that ... although it had been my first cosplay contest as a participant, I just did on stage what I can do best there - dancing. After all that's the perfect thing to to for Cat ... I hope there will be a video as well #comicconprague #comic_con #comic_con_prague #comiccon #convention #reddwarf #reddwarfcosplay #reddwarfcat #dannyjohnjules #gameofthrones #cosplay #cat #cosplayer #dancer #cosplayboy #cosplaytailor https://www.instagram.com/p/B8W3yS-oo82/?igshid=1l67i9a3od45t
