Cordell Jackson (1923-2004) and her guitar. I love her fast and frantic style of playing!
She was a multi-instrumentalist thought to be the first woman to produce, engineer, arrange and promote music on her own rock & roll label. She broke the barrier of playing in a band as a young girl, which others saw as an unseemly activity. In describing this experience she said, “When I picked up the guitar, I could see it in their eyes, ‘Little girls don’t play guitar,’ they thought. I looked right at ’em and said, ‘I do’.”
