@beloveddawn-blog wanting to know more is such a compliment ^.^
So, let's answer some questions!
Yes, they are 20.
They take 2 or 3 classes a semester cause they're working a couple jobs to pay for school.
They still live with grandma - it's just the two of them and an illegally owned pet chicken.
They consider grandma their only real family - grandfather f'd off years before they were born and the g-parents on the other side refuse to acknowledge the familial relationship
The only reason they have any interactions with their bio parents is because it makes grandma happy
This was the first time the bio parents reached out. They thought it would be something about their soon-to-be born sibling, which is 90% of why they showed up
I'm envisioning the new fae family acting a bit like the families in those childcare manwha/comics... this will be quite awkward for MC
I am undecided on MC's gender. The orig ficlet was written second person, but it'd be third person if I do a proper continuation. I might go with she/they. We'll see.
Fae parent is agender. Siblings are, in order of age, he/him, they/them, she/he
Grandma and eldest fae sibling will become besties forged through the fire of competition to be the best parental figure for MC. (The two eventually have weekly "knitting parties" that's more them drinking sangria and gossiping about the neighbours)
MC eventually finds a fae lover (friend of the family) and has some kids. Fae parent is bewildered but very happy to be a grandparent. Given the long lives of fae, and how they usually reproduce, most don't get to see their grandchildren
Despite not expecting it to do anything, fae parent tries to turn MC into a fae (secretly). MC does not become a fae, but they aren't human anymore either. This causes much consternation amongst the fae community
Hope the mad ramblings are understandable lol
I have a bit of a nasty cold at the moment, so I'm not sure if this will be as coherent as I think it is...
And because @ghostkittypog, @lottelorelei, and @wheat-singularity expressed interest in a continuation, I'm tagging y'all for this. Hope that's okay :)
your parents just sold you as their firstborn to a fey. problem is you’re already an adult.

I would read so many books, comics, short stories, etc, about this <3
But, like, can you imagine the systemic societal changes this would bring about?
At first, it's little things, like women being allowed to have their own money/property that is legally distinct from their husband's/ family's.
Then, some women being allowed into male-dominated industries. Sure, it's still very much a struggle to gain recognition, but women are no longer banned from being soldiers, doctors, barristers, blacksmiths, etc.
Fashion trends begin to shift away from "a woman must look attractive for a man" toward "a woman should feel comfortable in what she wears." I am picturing our best girl being 110% supportive of the timid fashionista wife and proudly wearing the empire-waist meets grecian tunic style dress she made to be more comfortable on 'off' days in the harem
As the emperor starts actively engaging with his harem, he starts noticing the weird little discrepancies in laws and proposals that, at best, inconvenience women. And he starts fixing them, because it'll be such a headache to deal with later and don't the advisors know how much it'll set him back in earning affection points? (Not that he would say that, or even consciously realize it)
And sure, it's still a patriarchal society (no matter how dedicated a person is to changing it, it'll take more than one generation), but it's so much better, and there's finally hope for a better tomorrow
War profiteering but for polycule drama

FWIW, "mauve" was one of the coal-tar dyes developed in the mid-19th century that made eye-wateringly bright clothing fashionable for a few decades.
It was an eye-popping magenta purple
Tumblr media
HOWEVER, like most aniline dyes, it faded badly, to a washed-out blue-grey ...
...which was the color ignorant youngsters in the 1920s associated with “mauve”.
(This dress is labeled "mauve" as it is the color the above becomes after fading).
Tumblr media
They colored their vision of the past with washed-out pastels that were NOTHING like the eye-popping electric shades the mid-Victorians loved. This 1926 fashion history book by Paul di Giafferi paints a hugely distorted, I would say dishonest picture of the past.
Tumblr media
Ever since then this faded bluish lavender and not the original electric eye-watering hot pink-purple is the color associated with the word “mauve”.

I'm re-reading the Discworld series for reasons, and honestly the most relatable part of reading these as an adult is how many of the protagonists start out being tired, used to their little routine and vaguely disgruntled by the interruption of the Plot. Sam Vimes wants to lie drunk in a gutter and absolutely doesn't want to be arresting dragons. Rincewind is yanked into every situation he's ever encountered, though he'd much rather be lying in a gutter too. (Minus the alcohol. Plus regretting everything he's ever done said witnessed or even heard about fourth-hand in his whole life.) Granny Weatherwax is deeply suspicious of foreign parts and that includes the next town over; Nanny has leaned into the armor of "nothing ever happens to jolly grannies who terrorize their daughters-in-law and make Saucy Jokes"
Only the young people don't seem to have picked up on this---and that's fortunate, because someone has to run around making things happen, if only so Vimes and Granny and Rincewind have a reason to get up (complaining bitterly the whole time) and put it all to rights. Without Carrot, Margrat, Eric, etc. these characters don't have that reason; they're likely to stay in the metaphorical gutter and keep wondering where it all went wrong or why anything has to change.
............well, that's not quite true. You get the sense that Vetinari knows how much certain people hate the Plot. And as the person sitting behind the metaphorical lighting board of Ankh-Morpork, he takes no small pleasure in forcing the Plot-haters specifically to stand up, and say some lines.

You stare at the ethereal beauty in front of you, and they stare back. Neither of you had been expecting this.
"Now that you've met, we're off," trilled your mother, waving her oversized sunhat and leaning on your father's arm.
He looked bored. But, he always looked bored. Forced to marry the 14-year-old he'd knocked up at the age of 17, he had shoved all his emotions into a jar he hid in the back of the closet underneath empty suitcases. Only when he got really drunk did any of it spill out.
The fae pointed at your mother's obviously pregnant belly. "Was that not the child you promised me?"
She shrugged. "I never said this child. I said my firstborn."
The fae frowned. 35 and 38 was a little old to be having a child for the first time, but people were waiting longer and longer to have kids these days. And there hadn't been any children's pictures or art or belongings in the house. Even if the child was now grown, surely there should have been some sign?
"They sent me to my grandma when I was four," you explained with a sigh. "They haven't been involved in my life since. We see each other once, or twice, a year."
"But you are their child..."
You shrugged.
"Well, it looks like you two can sort it out," your mother said. "Lock the door when you leave, please."
With that, your parents left. You weren't sure what they'd asked for from the fae, but it was probably something frivolous.
"They are not good people," the fae said with a frown.
You laughed. You couldn't help it. "They were willing to trade away their firstborn child. Of course they're not good people."
The fae eyed you speculatively. "It is true that some make this trade for selfish reasons, but more often it is done by parents who know they will be unable to care for their child."
"Oh, yeah? And what do the fae get out of this arrangement?"
"A child, of course."
"Okay, obviously, but I mean, what benefit is there to having a human child on your hands?"
"Ah!" Understanding lit their face, making their ethereal beauty all the more radiant. "The child becomes ours. To inherit our name and strength and magic. I, too, was once a child traded."
"..."
The fae sighed. "I do not think the process will work for an already grown human."
"Can't fae have children the, uh, normal way?"
"It is incredibly rare. And, oftentimes, such a child is born sickly."
"Oh. I'm sorry. This probably causes all sorts of problems for you."
They nodded. "A little, yes. But you were to be my third. Your siblings will be disappointed, and I must wait at least another 50 years before I can attempt another trade, but it is a trial that can be overcome."
"That's good, I guess. Sorry this was a waste of your time. I hope you have a, uh, safe trip home?"
The fae tilted their head. "What do you mean?"
"Well, you didn't get your child, right? So, won't you head home now?"
"We will head home."
"What?"
"Adult, though you may be, you are now my child. Of course I would bring you home."
your parents just sold you as their firstborn to a fey. problem is you’re already an adult.

Ah, kids these days... lol
So, TTRPG Club today... the grade 6s were creeping through a forest to investigate a supposed curse, and they come upon this withered, elderly looking tree stump man.
First up, "Lucky" decided this was someone to befriend. Diplomacy. Nat 1.
Okay, so you jump out of the bushes, screaming "Hiiiiii!" and go to give a friendly slap on the back, but instead hit him.
The others find this hilarious and also decide to try to attempt diplomacy checks. All fails, but normal fails (results ranging from 8 to 13).
Back to Lucky, he is undeterred. Second try. Nat 1 again.
Ah. This time, you go to shake its hand but instead shove your fist into its mouth.
Lucky, looking sadly at the Nat 1: Yeah, that sounds about right.
Shorty: Can I try to kill it now?
The next couple of attacks made by Shorty, Leon-Chad, and Rogar, all miss.
Goat: I also want to shove my hand in its mouth. And then light it on fire.
Nat 20.
Of course. So, you shove your hand in its mouth and cast Produce Flame. Roll for damage... it is, somehow, still alive.
Rogar: Aha! That's great! I also shove my hand in its mouth and cast produce flame. Nat 20!
Yeah, it's dead. Crisped from the inside by fire.
Lucky: Aw man... I never get to make any friends.

Crazy how an hour of tidying can make me feel a million times better...
My hubby didn't appreciate my june bugging (he wanted to focus solely on a single area), but we made progress and the house feels totally different now lol
So, this is a reminder to future me - even a little bit can make a huge difference. Who cares if you don't know where to start? Just pick up that thing. Yeah, the one right in front of you. Now put it away/throw it out. Congrats! You've started!

Can't afford art school?
After seeing post like this 👇
Tumblr media
And this gem 👇
Tumblr media
As well as countless of others from the AI generator community. Just talking about how "inaccessible art" is, I decided why not show how wrong these guys are while also helping anyone who actually wants to learn.
Here is the first one ART TEACHERS! There are plenty online and in places like youtube.
📺Here is my list:
Proko (Free)
Marc Brunet (Free but he does have other classes for a cheap price. Use to work for Blizzard)
Aaron Rutten (free)
BoroCG (free)
Jesse J. Jones (free, talks about animating)
Jesus Conde (free)
Mohammed Agbadi (free, he gives some advice in some videos and talks about art)
Ross Draws (free, he does have other classes for a good price)
SamDoesArts (free, gives good advice and critiques)
Drawfee Show (free, they do give some good advice and great inspiration)
The Art of Aaron Blaise ( useful tips for digital art and animation. Was an animator for Disney)
Bobby Chiu ( useful tips and interviews with artist who are in the industry or making a living as artist)
Second part BOOKS, I have collected some books that have helped me and might help others.
📚Here is my list:
The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.
"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.
"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.
"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.
"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.
"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.
"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.
"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.
"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.
Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.
As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are more expensive.
For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.
💻As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.
Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates)
Procreate ( pay once for $9.99)
Blender (for 3D modules/sculpting, ect Free)
PaintTool SAI (pay but has a 31 day free trail)
Krita (Free)
mypaint (free)
FireAlpaca (free)
Libresprite (free, for pixel art)
Those are the ones I can recall.
So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.
I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.
Hope this was helpful and have a great day.

Number of Goblins, ranked
One Goblin - That's just a goblin. He's probably just getting his groceries or something. Leave him alone, you asshole.
Ten Goblins -- That's a fairly normal amount of goblins. There's generally around ten goblins in any given situations. They're just here for aesthetic, so you know it's a fantasy world. Remember to tip them when you leave.
One Hundred Goblins -- Ok this is too many goblins, but this is a reasonable amount of too many goblins. Like, this is maybe an army of goblins or something? My point is that they're probably here for a good reason. Best not to mess with them, they're likely load-bearing in some way.
One Thousand Goblins -- This is probably a goblin town, in which case this is really more a case of One Human, which is a completely different list only available on goblintube. If not, all these goblins are lost. Return them to the goblin town. The orcs are worried.
One Million Goblins -- A million goblins? I'm not sure I've even seen a million things in my life , and now there's a million goblins? That's, like, all the goblins. Why are you at a convention of all the goblins? Are you a goblin? Actually, no, that would make sense. Yeah, that's probably what's going on here. Sorry you had to find out this way.
One Billion Goblins -- Ok, look, at this point you have clearly been sent to a future time where humanity is extinct and goblins have inherited the earth. I can think of no other explanation for a billion goblins. This sadly means that you're the weirdo, and you have to go be a cryptid now. At least you can find a phone and read the goblin creepypastas about you.
One Trillion Goblins -- How? What is happening? This is more goblins then there are birds, and they'll all in your house? How is your house this big? Wait, forget the goblins, how is your house this big? Are the goblins here to guillotine you? Probably! Move out of your stupid mansion and let the goblins have it, you weird rich bird-hoarding freak.
One Quadrillion Goblins -- One quadrillion? I'm only like 80% sure that's even a real number! Luckily, you won't have to deal with a quadrillion goblins for long, because soon they'll collapse together under their gravity, forming a far more manageable single planet-sized goblin. Picard's not gonna be happy about this one!
More Goblins -- Fuck off, you do not have more then a quadrillion goblins. Why are you lying? Are you worried I won't like you if you don't claim to have an implausible number of goblins? Don't worry. Your worth is not dependent on your goblin numbers. Go back to the actual number of goblins secure in the fact I love you, no matter how few goblins you have <3

when I drew this comic 3 years ago I had NO idea how far it would reach. I'm happy to finally share a corrected version with proper abbreviations, and even MORE state names of indigenous origin ♥️
however, the goal of this comic was to inspire people to do your OWN research on indigenous history. To question everything we have been taught, and everything that has been pointedly left out. This erasure, this “forgetting”, of history is not just of the past… it is happening now. - Across so-called Canada, the US, and US-occupied islands, native women are victims of murder at 10-12x the rate of non-native people, and are the most likely to go missing without being searched for by the law. - Native reservations have the highest rates of poverty in the US, with over HALF of tribal homes with no access to clean water (with more joining this list by the year) - Native people are 6-10x more likely to be unhoused than the rest of the population, and native teens suffer suicide rates higher than any other demographic. This list of modern day genocide goes on (thank you for compiling @theindigenousanarchist <3) and yet take a look at those environmental stats!
Native people manage to do SO much for the planet as a whole - thanklessly - and with all this stacked against them. Don't even get me started on kin fighting in south america. Could you imagine if there was help? #landback is resistance to genocide, and it is the key to saving our warming earth.
So look into it and the other hashtags, cuz a cartoon goose ain't a substitute for a proper education. Love to my grandparents who always kept a map of tribal territories of turtle island on their wall, to speaking on our Tsalagi & Saponi heritage. Love & solidarity forever, happy research, and happy #indigenouspeoplesday
LANDBACK.ORG
(Also, if you care to support the artist, I'm publishing a book ! and writing another - a fantastical afroindigenous graphic novel - that I post exclusively about with tons of other art on my patreon.)

So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

Some reactions to seeing someone after a long time that I have personally experienced...
"NAME!" picks up and swings them around. [also fun (?) fact, this prompted a panic attack because I've got issues with heights and was NOT expecting him to pick me the f*** up]
"I missed you so much." Followed by a hug.
"When did you come back?"
Reactions to... seeing someone again after a long time
"Long time no see."
"Wow, I mean, how long has it been?"
"It's really good to see you."
"You have not changed at all."
"No way! What are you doing here?"
"Hi, I... I don't really know what to say."
"Is it okay to give you a hug?"
"I am so happy to see you again."
"What have you been up to?"
"Not sure where we stand right now."
"This must be fate, right?"
"I told you we would see each other again."
"You were the last person I expected to see here."
"Not a day went by without thinking about you."
"I can't believe it's really you."
"How is [insert partner] doing?"
"Oh hi. Interesting to see you here."
"I have waited so long for this moment."
"How's life going for you?"
"And now we're here, once again."
"I wasn't sure this day would ever come."
