A “Journee” Back to Me
I’ve been on a quest to get back to me.
A spiritual journey of what’s to be
I’ve traveled through darkness,
Travelled valley lows
Climbed mountains
And met many foes
Enemies of faith
Enemies of light
Enemies of health
I almost lost my fight
Then I found that lost little girl that hid from her soul
I introduced her to her purpose
Her existence
Her grassy knoll
I told her it is ok.
Come out show the world
Don’t be ashamed of your darkness.
You are no longer that little girl.
He can’t hurt you
They can’t judge you
Your light is within
Take back your life
Checkmate
You Win

It’s two types of people in this world. Those that take the opportunity and those that create them.

A voice from the past.
I wrote this 3 years ago... but it still resonates
Why don't I apply the same logic to the Dallas tragedy... I want to see how this sounds...
"You can't blame this movement for a few ignorant people deciding to kill a "few"cops we must educate cops how to be prepared for riots and properly secure the area and be aware of known threats"
Sounds insensitive huh???? Sounds ignorant right?
It is ignorant....
Killing and murdering people in the middle of the streets savagely from an undisclosed location is about as cowardly as a person shooting a detained person on the ground, in a park, hands up, reaching for a wallet, following orders of an allegedly sworn protector...
Neither is right, neither is justified... But let's not get DISTRACTED....
The same way some officers put their life on the line everyday for us, our men, our children, our women lives are at risk everyday to the injustices of a system built to segregate, the fear of being killed by some trigger happy untrained official, being harassed by some blue power complex individual, assassinated for a tail light, playing with a toy gun in a park, selling a cd in front of a store, reaching for wallet, being autistic, having a mental illness, having a mouthful of golds, get gunned down walking in your own neighborhood because you don't look a certain way to live there, selling cigarettes, being a voice..., standing up for yourself is a threat.
Cindy Brown ( a fine citizen from my hometown) said and I quote, "It's heartbreaking. Don't ever think I don't feel for those families. But Alton could and should have been better for his family. His kids... that same boy was in a picture with him being taught the thug life. I pray that if nothing good comes from this at least his son will see that he doesn't need to live a criminal lifestyle. Get an education and a good job... be more than that life."
She judged Alton by the way he looks and what he does for a living and made an assumption... Referred to a man as "that", And unfortunately that's what most do that why we are here, this is why we are consistently on the defense. It's this sort of ignorance that's ingrained in individuals like her that sends my people in a state of panic, anger, and violence.. In reality, this man was raising his son in a society that will make an assumption about him no matter what the truth was.. Because of some mistakes he made when he was younger his record doesn't allow him the luxury to sit behind a desks and take payments and write receipts Cindy... Instead of making excuses he was out there making things happen. You might not understand the life our men have been reduced to or made to believe they have to but we do... And to answer your question and give you a little direction and clarity, that money raised was not raised for Alton the "thug". It was for Alton, the father of 5 whose life was brutally taken at the hands of cowards to ensure that his kids have that college education you so ignorantly put in your rant..
An excerpt from MLK "The Other America"
"But at the same time, it is as necessary for me to be as vigorous in condemning the conditions which cause persons to feel that they must engage in riotous activities as it is for me to condemn riots. I think America must see that riots do not develop out of thin air. Certain conditions continue to exist in our society which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots. But in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it that America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice, equality, and humanity. And so in a real sense our nation’s summers of riots are caused by our nation’s winters of delay. And as long as America postpones justice, we stand in the position of having these recurrences of violence and riots over and over again. Social justice and progress are the absolute guarantors of riot prevention."
"A riot is the voice of the unheard"
~MLK
He was an advocate for peace and non-violence, but he was human first, and he understood why as a society violence was so easily turned too.
It's simple. If you want peace give us justice.... You want to end violence stop murdering and imprisoning our men, raping our women, killing our kids, denying our children their education, paying us subpar, disrespecting our culture, judging our life based on our past, stop thinking its a privilege to be here amongst you, stop stealing from us and give us back what we built, what we earned, what we invented, what we created...
I'm not done... I'm just getting started... Don't meet me in BR beat me there....
