Alexandra, 35, she/her, Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. Formerly the-ashen-phoenix, and alexandrasdreambook before then. I am white (British heritage), middle-class and mostly cis, but also autistic and a survivor of childhood emotional abuse. I'm almost definitely bi. I like Doctor Who (NOT the Moffat era), sci-fi and fantasy in general, video games (though mostly on PC), punk, some alternative/indie (especially '90s), darker electronic and some pop music, fashion (with an alternative bent, also historical and '60s-'70s fashion) and cooking. I am trying to become a youth worker, and have recently completed a Diploma of Youth Work. No porn or "looking-for-a-good-time"-type blogs (if your blog is full of those links advertising sex or "chat with horny girls" or similar, THIS MEANS YOU), please. I don't trust you not to reblog anyone's picture (including mine) who doesn't want it. You will be blocked. No, I don't want to be your sugar baby either. You'll be blocked too. So will empty blogs. I don't trust you.

If you want to make your backyard a safe haven for lesser dragons, you must keep a close eye on your pets. While it is unlikely that a curious kitten will be able to cause a dragon physical harm, the egos of these small wyrms are as fragile as they are beautiful.

there is also something kind of gross to me about the constant insinuations that the "questioning social norms" component of autism immediately turns every autistic person into a genderfuckery kinkster leftist who don't give a fuck. and I say this as someone who is a genderfuckery kinkster leftist. autism isn't a political alignment, it's a disability. sometimes the autism 'sense of justice' is wrong. sometimes an autistic person will find a home in conservative ideologies for many of the same reasons as other autistic people will find a home in communist ideologies. sometimes the autistic communist will come up with dogshit analysis even as they're guided by their sense of justice, because good political analysis isn't a feeling or a neurotype, it's a skill that you cultivate. I know it would be pleasant and emotionally soothing for you to be able to believe that autism turns someone into a superpowered leftist but it's a politically fraught and deeply questionable line of thought to be feeding into
#psa#autism#actuallyautistic#I'm definitely left-wing but there are quite a few right-wing autistics#especially given the fact that many of us don't like change and cling to a sense of stability?#I myself was philosophically a rugged individualist in my teens because the community didn't accept me#and individualism promised me intrinsic value#while authoritarian group-focused institutions seemed not to see me as having any worth beyond my ability to fit in#though I've almost always been left-wing *politically*#I don't always agree with other autistic leftists either#especially because I really need freedom (itself probably an autistic thing)#and some of my beliefs are stereotypically associated with right-wing libertarians#me#personal#sex

#to me 'I don't have a gender identity' from other cis people is like 'I don't have pronouns' #just an indication that they are fundamentally not at all curious about even their own internal experience #let alone learning what terms like 'gender identity' actually mean #(side note: when anyone asks if I was born a woman I want to say 'I was born a baby') #(which seems silly but is also TRUE. babies don't have a concept of gender identity yet.) (via @cakesandfail)
Hot take, but cis people have gender identities. They aren't the gender they identify as because of their genitalia or what their birth certificate says. They're only cis because they identify with a gender and it happens to match their government documentation. Cis men aren't men because they're "obviously" men for having a penis. They're men because they identify as men. It's the self-identification that dictates this, not any other factor, even for cis folks. And we should be framing it this way. A cis man identifies as a man and a cis woman identifies as a woman. There is no automatic or inherent gender.
