I’m almost 20k words into this fic, and my biggest regret so far is that Ištván does become a nobleman at some point, sure, but none of those scenes I've planned will take place in winter. So I’ll have no excuse to give him a big-ass fur hat, the fanciest in the region.

A bit of a rant here, I guess? But I never considered myself to be necessarily disabled, because my EDS didn't affect me too much up til now. Sure; my joints dislocate every now and then and I can't make sharp turns. Big deal.

But as of recent, it started to affect my fingers. Like, very badly. They became very hyper mobile, very painful. At this point? Can't even hold a pen for extended period of time.

Can't cut my food if it's a little too hard.

I am twenty-one years old. And I can't cut my food.

I don't know why this affects me so much when it was to be expected at some point to happen. I guess I didn't know that disability would actually disable me. Especially that I am an artist. One day, I won't be able to make art. It scares me a lot.

Y'all I think Bartosch should've kinda joined Henry's side at Nebakov siege and then left with them to Kuttenberg.

I need him to apply his university knowledge to conduct study on Devils pack and take notes on Kubyenka and Dry Devil making chicken sled at 3 am while muttering "Hmmm, interesting specimen."

I agree — it is not a bad thing. We share culture and all that. From both a Hungarian and a Slovak point of view here. Janosh is great!! Cosplay will be great!! As long as you don't inflict harmful stereotypes, it's all perfectly fine (I say this because some Czechs have a tendency to hate Slovaks, and Slovaks Hungarians, and it's a hellish circle nobody can escape really. But I didn't see this problem in the community before.).

After I've read your Janosh post, I just have to ask this question. But since I don't know if you're the right one to ask it or not I'll do it as anon not to embarrass myself. If someone would make a Janosh cosplay, does one have to fear to be considered to practice cultural appropriation if they are not Czech/Hungarian/Slovakian? Because I would love to do a cosplay of him since I love him. But don't want to be disrespectful towards anyone.

haha no worries, it's a fair and considerate question.

i say this as a slav, but i think you should be fine. all the items/clothing featured on janosh's person are something a hungarian/magyar at that age would have on his person, and i don't think any of the items on him carry any controversial modern day symbology, only perhaps the fokos. i linked some websites to groups recreating the looks of that time period including modern recreations of those fabrics so i think you could do a fairly accurate 'cosplay'.

that being said, i urge hungarians/czechs/slovaks to weigh in as well on this topic! i personally wouldn't consider anyone trying to faithfully recreate a historically accurate depiction of a croatian folk costume/wear as anything but flattering. but looking up possible modern connotations and staying respectful of the source material is always the best way to approach it! cheers
