On the one hand yes making Charles relive his trauma was a dick move and also she was an antagonist for nearly the whole season, but I don’t think we give the Night Nurse enough credit for going “no hard feelings about beating the heck out of me and feeding me to a giant fish”

I mean, she was fine, yes. But a) Charles didn’t mean for her to be, that was fully a murder attempt and more importantly b) her being fine wasn’t a foregone conclusion even from her point of view. As far as I can tell if Kashi hadn’t happened to be there she would have spent the next few hundred years stuck in the belly of a fish, which is fucked up, tbh.

But she gets out and finds them and is basically just like “no worries about the fish thing, let’s get you on to Heaven, spit spot” and then when she realizes things are hinky and not going as planned she does Charles a FAVOR. And not a small one! One that could probably get her in a lot of trouble! One that puts her and her life’s work in danger! Because Charles asked her to and Charles looks very polite! When her only previous interaction with him was him attempting her premeditated murder!

Like. It’s no wonder Charles immediately assigns her a semi-affectionate nickname even though by all rights he should want to murder her again for trying to take Edwin to Hell. She’s possibly the first authority figure that not only wants the best for him, he actively and deliberately harmed her and she STILL wants the best for him.

“Charles, may I ask you a question? About… your soulmate?”

“Fire away.”

Edwin fiddles with the gold chain of his partner. He softly looks up to him. “When did your connection break?”

“Oh.” He frowns. “Um… About, ten years ago. Never knew why.”

Ten years ago…

“Do you remember… when, exactly? A date, maybe?”

“Uh, not exactly. Just… I know it was early in the year. Like, March or April. I remember ‘cause it wasn’t long before my birthday.”

Something like hope starts to sneak his way into Edwin’s chest. It’s probably just wishful thinking, at this point. After all, the chances are very thin. But… It does concur with the accident. Ten years ago, March-April.

He shouldn’t hope.

But he does.

"I’m not.”

Niko turns to him with her cute face and speaks with her cute voice. “Charles, it really seems like you are. Do you want me to distract you? I could paint your nails!”

“Left me all alone back there, did you?” He pecks his lips.

“I did not want to wake you. You seemed really comfortable.”

“Yeah, well, I wasn’t anymore after you escaped.”

Edwin snorts. “Escaped. Charles…”

“You did. I was sad,” Charles jokes.

“Well. I shall get your spirits up by offering you a proper cup of tea, then.”

He moves to open his cupboard, but Charles closes it back up as soon as it’s ajar. “I don’t need a cuppa. I need you to kiss me senseless to make up for it.” He grins.

Hi! What service do you use to print books?

Hi! I print books on Lulu.com! All you need is your pdf files of the pages and the cover :)

I recommend to order in batch though, the delivery fees can be a little expensive for only one book. What I usually do is wait until I have at least 4 different books ready, and then I order.

I’ve used this website since a good 4 years for books and never had any problems so 100% recommend. They also offer a lot of other types of printing, and even if I obviously don’t do this for the covers I share here, you can also publish your own book on there, so it’s really cool.

“Edwin, are you good in there?” Charles’ voice comes stifled outside the door and Edwin almost jumps at the sound.

He breathes out, then opens the door. “Yes, I apologise for monopolising your bathroom.”

Charles doesn’t seem to mind about that, reaching a hand to a strand of Edwin’s hair. “Uh, your hair’s curly when it’s wet.”

Edwin pats his own head, remembering he does, in fact, have hair. “Oh. Yes, it does.”

“It’s cute.”

“Please know that you are the only one who is allowed to say that,” Edwin says with a half exasperated look.

“Now I feel real special,” Charles buries his hands in his pockets.

missing dead boy detectives hours

thing is, nothing quite scratches the same itch in my brain that dbda does. i've watched arcane, lockwood & co, the x-files, and all that, but i always come back to dead boy detectives. (btw this is absolutely no hate to those three shows, i adore them with all of my heart) in the end, nothing is quite like dbda.

the characters arcs and development, the well fleshed out characters, hot people, the flawed and broken and imperfectness of every character. i don't know if i'll ever find and love a show like dead boy detectives.

mourning the loss of later seasons because we could've gotten more of this. more of these brilliant characters and these incredible stories. and it should've gotten the chance to be more, to grow into so much more. except—here we are. (then again, we can save this show. and we will.)

to put it simply: i love dead boy detectives with all my heart <3
