They had been hearing about it for months now, it started just after the previous school year had ended, and it hadn’t stopped. At first it was whispers, rumours that most refused to believe. It was when the rumours caught the attention of the media outlets, and the stories became too frequent to ignore, did the rest start to believe this was more than just speculation. Muggleborns were being hunted down. Muggle villages burnt to the ground. Some wizards were tortured, and some even killed, all for the agenda of a mad man.

Some students boarded the train that year as if nothing was happening, and some students didn’t board at all. There was talk on the train, regaling of stories and fears. Some wondered if Hogwarts could even be deemed safe anymore. The students were reassured during the feast, but many still wondered silently. Would the dangers within the Wizarding World be the end of Hogwarts as we know it?
