If there is a reason for me to hate summer it's lonelyness. my closest irl dissappeared for 4 days again without warning though he promised to tell me before doing it. like if he didn't know how paranoid I get about it. my other few friends just don't talk to me a lot either. somehow even music, drawing and scrolling through tumblr don't help anymore. only watching youtube playthroughs as a background make a false sence of company which helps a little. maybe I would feel better if I finished part 7 of my au but that would last for 5 minutes most.. and I feel bad for feeling bad because some of my mutuals are going through much more rn and I can't even think of something nice to say them and to support them though I know they need it. A fucking coward is what I am. and also get your shit together OP.

so um. I've been thinking about rattmann's age again, so here go my headcanons

for some reason I think that in the flashbacks he is like 27

looks really young but not less than 25, huh?.. I'd say Gordon's age because it's old enough to be a well-educated scientist for several months at least (Gordon the employee of the month lol) and young enough to match the pic. also I just like to make him as young and pure and innocent as possible

but the most interesting is the so-called older rattmann. how long has he spent trapped in aperture? this is the real question. Doug changed a lot: he lost weight, got more wrinkles and bigger eyebags. besides his hair and beard grew a lot, and this is what is going to help us tell how much time passed.

we know he is schizophrenic and he stopped taking his pills after some time. let's say after around 2 weeks since GLaDOS's episode, by the time she asked him about it because we don't really have better clues. so given his mental state we can say almost for sure that he wouldn't really care about his appearance and everything so he probably didn't shave or cut the hair. we now just need to make a guess judging by the length of his beard and hair!! my guess is around half a year, 6-8 months maybe, and my personal headcanon is that he had one of those horrible not happy birthdays during that time so he's 28 by the end. he's gone through such horrors that I wouldn't even be surprised if he actually was younger than 30 looking like that.

though I can't be sure because I don't know that well how fast beards can grow. does anyone want to share their guesses and headcanons? feel free to correct me gang, we need more opinions to get closer to possible truth (and I may be stupid)

Guys. Imagine companion (love as a construct) admiring Doug's body(not in a sexual way). Imagine him gently tracing veins on Doug's chest and wrists with the very fingertips of his synthetic hands. His grip get a little tighter on the sides of the scientist's ribcage, as he softly counts the ribs with his fingers: especially the ones that are visible due to Doug's skinniness. Imagine companion running his hand through Rattmann's hair and panicing when a hair falls off stays on his "skin". Imagine companion cupping the rat's face with his palms adoring the special warmth, softness and squishyness of a human (EVEN IF THE SAID HUMAN IS THIN AS A TWIG AND FLAT AS A BOARD SO IF YOU SLAPPED HIS ASS IT WOULD MAKE A MINECRAFT SCELETON SOUND)

This kind of interaction and experience was actually one of the main reasons to create love as a construct. I didn't want to make the cube more humanlike, but I wanted him to be able to take care of Rattmann, to hold and support him not only as a heavy ass guide who loved him, but could only use words. He surely wasn't a burden for Rattmann, but now I want to give him another way to comfort Doug. Are you with me gang? Rattmann fanclub of three people plus me I know you are
