*ECSTATIC CHEERS*
This is so precious, creative, and brilliant--Luthien's grin and pantomime, Beren's attentiveness, the perfectly captured personalities of the kiddies... WOW. As always, your work is an honor and delight to behold. More AU to come! :D

While I patiently yearn for more Beren/Luthien scenes in @allthatglittersisnotgoldrush I thought to myself, why not draw them? And since I've recently gotten into Journey to the West, I figured, why not merge these fixations?? :D
Since Thingol already has a pretty nice library in the AU, I imagine he might've sourced the Chinese classics at some point; Luthien then reads Journey to the West to Beren (probably practiced the translation beforehand instead of doing it on the spot, and also did all the voices and used a staff to act out Wukong's scenes loll) Later on, when Beren sends her letters and such, he signs them with little doodles of stuff they talked about, which she'd recognize!
For Beren's doodle of Wukong and Sanzang (and the peach), I took inspiration from Coast Salish art since they've been my main basis for his design in the past. Also, I imagine he's drawing Wukong and Sanzang's reunion as a way to tell Luthien that he's always thinking of being with her :''') And also, first time drawing Lucy and Amlach! I figured it was time to give them a cameo XD

Hello! Hope y'all are doing well! <33 I was sketching Beren and Luthien from the AU recently, and I was wondering - how would Beren sign his letters to Luthien? Would he avoid putting his name down just in case the letters are caught by someone else? If that were the case, I imagine he'd include something else in place of his name that only she would recognize XD Also, if this has already been answered in one of the fic installments, my apologies! ^^;;
TolkienGirl here, sorry for the belated reply! It is always a thrilling development when you're sketching AUT things :)
As for Beren's letters, I think he often dictated his letters to Finrod (Finrod says as much in Pharmakos Chapter XXVII), and presumably in the time Finrod wasn't available to him he had someone else write for him, among the Haladin (the implication is that Beren was more confident in speaking English than writing it). Haleth herself has been the one to pass any missives to Luthien, but probably also passed messages directly rather than in print. So I would say that Beren might have made some sort of mark or signature, but considering that his communications were always in other friendly hands (not directly the product of his own writing), they might not always be signed anyway. Co-authors feel free to add... to me, in sum, a personal mark seems most likely if anything.

Happy SIXTH Birthday to the Gold Rush AU!
Will this be the year we hit 2 million words? It's certainly going to be the year we broach #Himring, introduce some new faces, and hopefully indulge in a few moments of joy amidst all of the gloom and gathering darkness...
A warm and heartfelt thanks to all readers and followers. We hope this story has been as much of a lifeline for you as it has been for us.

my dreams, my works, must wait till after hell
by Gwendolyn Brooks
I hold my honey and I store my bread  In little jars and cabinets of my will.  I label clearly, and each latch and lid  I bid, Be firm till I return from hell.  I am very hungry. I am incomplete. And none can tell when I may dine again.  No man can give me any word but Wait,  The puny light. I keep eyes pointed in;  Hoping that, when the devil days of my hurt  Drag out to their last dregs and I resume  On such legs as are left me, in such heart  As I can manage, remember to go home, My taste will not have turned insensitive  To honey and bread old purity could love.

Speaking of fingon, I sort of assumed a lot of differences between your canon, and silm canon, like him being a healer, started with "well these are humans not magic elves, so he needs to be able to cut someone's hand off on a mountain and not have them just die" and developed from there.
From what I recall (co authors chime in with your recollections too, please): That is exactly why our Fingon is a doctor, haha! As well as I think we were like Fingon was something of a golden boy in the Silm, and it feels like he is to an extent Tolkien’s image of what a paragon of Noldorin potential is, like Diomedes for the Greeks. And as a big through-line in LotR is the importance of Healing, and the hands of the king are the hands of a healer and all that, it just made sense.
