i'm trying to get back into commissions by doing some quick wing-its; these are digital art commissions where you give me a character ref, pick one of these three formats, and i draw that character in that format and send it your way within 24 hours without checking in with you at every stage. of course i'll make corrections if in the end i somehow completely missed something on your ref, but these are largely artistic freedom and i won't redo things that were a deliberate choice.

three options, 10$ each! we got

-chibi loafs (upper left), based on disney's tsum-tsums and bandai's digi-digi otedamas. no shading, simple shape, and come with a bonus gif with happy hand flapping.

-voodoo dolls (right), my personal favorite that toe the line between creepy and cute. still pretty simple but are fully shaded and not as cookie-cutter as the loafs.

-full detail headshot portraits (lower left), for use as icons/avatars/pfps/etc. in case you don't care for the oversimplification of the other options.

i fucking love drawing but NOT when i'm being payed and thus have to maintain a very specific image and can't change it to be more comfortable for me or pause/cancel it when i'm not feeling it anymore and move on to another idea... why must i live in an economy where i feel i MUST monetize my hobbies...

wtf is wrong with people. following me is a good way to start learning about me and see if we're compatible BEFORE you talk to me, so we have a better chance of clicking and becoming friends. but also following is not friending so you don't even have to like me or want to talk to me to follow me...

So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????

I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.

Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

Drawing PSA

This is for people heavily influenced at a young age by western animated media like Disney. You do not need to close your lines, you do not need perfect clean lines which define all forms. You will see these things often in professional works like animation because they are designed to make things easier to animate and color. Unless you are working in that field or directed to by your superiors, your art does not need to be pristine and clean like animation. It can often express more if it's dirty.

aside from the search not working (which i originally thought was just commentary on how shitty it is, not that it just straight up has been disabled), i find the site takes an awful long time to load lately. anyone else having that issue?

art credit, permission to repost, and ai

saying it again cuz this is frequently a difficult subject for young folk for some reason-

'credit' on art doesn't mean clarifying that you yourself DON'T deserve credit (ex; i didn't draw this, this isn't mine, credit to whoever drew this, found this on google, etc).

it means calling out the person who DOES deserve recognition for the majority of work that went into creating the piece, in a way that other people will actually understand and be able to find more from them/contact them if they are interested in it. (ex; base used originally made by username on deviantart, heavily referenced from username's work on instagram, artist is username on twitter and they gave me permission to post this here, etc)

also, credit is not permission. you need BOTH to ethically post anything. just putting a link to someone's original work does NOT make it okay to repost it, you must also ASK for and ACQUIRE that person's EXPLICIT permission to do so. people post things in certain places and avoid posting them in others for REASONS. and if the artist doesn't post the image themself, they can't take it down or alter it anymore. thus, reposting goes against artists' wishes/intent and removes them from their own work- THAT is why it is NOT okay.

if you don't know who made something, not only can you not credit them, but you can't get permission, and therefore it is NEVER okay to post such things. this includes 'ai art' which is made out of others' work, almost entirely without their permission. that image your prompt generated didn't come from the computer alone, it came from hundreds of artists who you can't name and who didn't give you their permission to use that work.

unfortunately, even after driving 12 hours we were unable to make it to the totality zone because weather forecasts are bs and we simply did not have time to race the clouds that suddenly popped up overnight. but when i took a picture of the partial eclipse just for kicks, it turned out like this and i think it's pretty neat.

it is absolutely wild to me that even with 99.9% coverage, the sun is so bright that we still couldn't look up at it without glasses safely, and if you did anyway, it just looked like a normal sun still, even tho WITH glasses you could tell it was almost entirely covered up by the moon.

oh absolutely. he lives in my head/heart and thus is watching my every move through my own eyes. but there comes a point where the thirst overpowers the imaginary judgement and that's how i learned to draw humans.
