I woke up feeling pretty great today! I did all of the fur baby things on my own! Jasper's vet visit, took both Rory and River on two walks TOGETHER, picked up my cousin and was social and out of the hermit house, fed the fur babies and started on the ridiculous size of dirty dishes taking up all of our counter space, researched more on C-PTSD and how to be a person again, new insights on gaslighting and how it's still-open wounds manifest in adults.... Guys, I took a good day and did all of the things that lots of people do daily without issue and now I can just feel it I can actually feel it now, and recognize how my body and mind react to this busy-ness I can feel my back starting to fire up invisible bug bites, burning stings and flashes of hot, hot pokers traveling slowly then swiftly from base to the tip of my spine I feel this impending cloud hovering over my cognitive processes, slowly starting to make my trains of thought derail, like how it's taking a very long time to string these words together I can sense the ache of disappointment that has found a home in my hips begin to nudge awake. She's this blue purple magenta ball of beautiful sparkling pain, which sounds really nice until you feel her. This feeling, this knowing, has always loved to wax poetic. She must be from my middle school years. And now my neck and shoulders are telling me that I have done so much today, yet not enough. That sharing these thoughts feelings and experiences, I won't be heard. Won't be witnessed. That I am not worthy because in reality what I have done on this day is all so simple. It all should be easier. Like it is, most days, for everyone else. Thanks for reading, friends. I know that, unlike the parts that express through my neck and shoulders say, I WILL be witnessed. I will be heard. Because I have the best people who care about me, and you all genuinely value my health and well-being. You all help me to see myself, through you. Let's talk about how one of my first (and still recurring) thoughts about not being able to work was the fear of gaining weight again. Let's talk about how I've used the scale in the bathroom more over the last three months than I ever have in my life. Almost every morning, and other times throughout the day. Just waiting. Watching. Let's talk about how I was bullied for being bigger from elementary school all the way up until my mid twenties. Not just by other people, but by trusted friends, partners and family members. This all is just one little piece of what's happening to my body now. Trauma is remembered by your body, with or without your own conscious memory of it. Through Internal Family Systems therapy I have found links between my body and my traumatic life experiences. I am learning more every day about our bodies and their natural responses to trauma. How everyone reacts so differently and the spectrum of traumatic experience is incredibly vast. I know that healing will be found through this learning, through this really tough inner work, and through noticing my body's biological coping mechanisms as well as working through them. I don't need to be in pain every day. I can take the time my body needs to learn that I am safe, now. I am enough, and I am never too much.
