An abandoned state hospital, once known as the State Lunatic Hospital, was the first inpatient facility in Pennsylvania and now the only one in southeastern PA. Although most of the building are still in use, this original building has been long abandoned. Built in 1879,it was designed in a red brick Victorian high Gothic motif. This building was closed in the early 70s and other original buildings have either been demolished or replaced. There are multiple underground tunnels to connect all buildings. And if course, there are reports of ghost. As with most old asylums, there are reports of inhumane practices.

One of the things I like to photograph is hallways.. Now not a hallway in your home.. But corridors.. Like this one.. Located in the Eastern State Penitentiary. A famous prison system in Philadelphia, that has long been out of use. But Is open to the public. Many more pictures of this wonderful establishment to come

This glass was located in the basement of a home in a tiny community that had long been abandoned. I have been to the location a couple times and find it very peaceful. Unfortunately, the glass was not there on my second trip back.. So very glad to have this photo. I will have many more photos of this location in the future.. I shall refer to it as the psych homes

Mansion S. 2 of the fireplaces in the manor. Both had built in bookcases next to them. Imaging a roaring fire, lounging while reading your favorite book, In these grand rooms . Sadly, one of the mantles was stolen after my visit. But during reconstruction, the new owners used as much of the original wood as possible, to restore the mantles

My very first adventure in urban exploring. The S mansion.. The manor was built in 1735. And see many happy years with its family. After the last of the family moved away, the major fell in disarray and nature moved in. Graffiti also moved in.. Some saw it as an eye sore in such an upscale neighborhood. History buffs were sadden by its state. Urban explorers, saw its beauty. Now, the home has been bought, partially demolished and rebuilt. The new owners kept as much of the old to go with the new.. I’ve seen the new… I prefer the old.. But that’s me.. More photos from the inside will follow
