since twt is imploding on itself-

i saw someone say that it doesn’t make sense why kunikida has a distaste for authority- and i’d like to suggest that it makes quite a bit of sense when you analyze things like his schedule, notebook, and overall ideals…

his schedule: kunikida is known to have a thorough outline for his daily schedule and a tendency to feel annoyed when someone/thing [dazai] interferes with it- therefore causing his schedule to go from something he has the authority over to something that he is being “subject to”

his notebook: whether it be falling out of an airplane or his fifty-something stipulations for his ideal partner the man has a lot tied to his notebook- his ability is uniquely //his// and what he does with it is up to //him// therefore no one else can take away the autonomy tethered to his notebook and the creations that stem from it.. examples such as his ideal partner can support this notion as it can be interpreted that he will not settle for a person that someone else/ society has “authorized” him to be with..

his ideals: to put a bow on a topic that a part of me could ramble on for hours about- kunikida’s ideals are at the forefront of his distaste for authority… shaped by his lived experiences and personal reflections on things he has been able to craft ideals which are dictated and measured by him and him alone- no other person or thing understands the basis and determination of his ideals besides himself- and therefore are not able to serve as an authority as to their execution.

all in all this is a trifecta interpretation of a much larger unanswered question- which perhaps will unfold with further details of his backstory or perhaps not.
