left behind

i’m so used to everyone i care about being just a walk or bus ride away. i could easily walk up the hill to my friend’s house and chill with her and her cat, or catch a couple buses to meet others in our usual coffee shop. to be honest, i took all this for granted. the past couple years the excuses have mainly been ‘no time’ or ‘no energy’, and to be honest, i was in a bad place which i am glad they didn’t have to experience.

but now i have time, i have energy. i may not be incredible, but i feel so much better than back then. and yet, no one is here. i’m home but none of the people that make it home are here with me. and it’s not their fault. they’re off experiencing life and meeting people and achieving things. i just can’t help but feel a bit left behind.
