Speaking from a psychological point of view, QPRs cannot simply be considered as “just friends”

Due to the commitment component of the relationship, using Sternberg’s Triangular Theory of Love, they would be categorized as companionate love. Most examples given for companionate love are long married couples who love and are completely commited to one another but whose passion has faded. However, it can also describe QPRs if the passion was never there to begin with, and is considered wholly seperate from friendship/liking alone as well as seperate from romantic love.

(intimacy in this case refers to emotional intimacy/attatchment to a person, passion refers to both romantic and sexual attraction)

In the Color Wheel Theory of Love, I think QPRs could be best described by Lee’s description of Storgic love, though his descriptions usually assume that there will be sexual attraction in all the relationships, so I personally prefer Sternberg’s theory.

TL;DR: The emotional intimacy and commitment found in QPRs is more than ‘just friends’, and is what many people have taken to calling ‘alterous’ attraction. You can also call it Companionate love or Storgic love - intimate, committed relationships without passionate feelings, that is different from Liking (intimacy only) or Philic love (friendship).

the new tumblr “safe mode” is shit

so tumblr recently unveiled it’s new safe mode that blocks “sensitive content” on dashboards and completely on mobile.

if you’re under 18, there’s no way to turn it off. 

it wouldn’t be too much of a problem if it was just like blocking p/orn or ns/fw art or anything, but, as it’s tumblr and therefore not a functioning website, it blocks like everything else except that stuff

for example, it blocks a ton of posts having to do with anything lgbt-related…. because kids need to be protected from the big scary gays amirite….

and also it blocks a ton of other innocent stuff like comic edits that have nothing inappropriate at all about them??

tldr; tumblr is censoring non nsf/w gay content just for the hell of it. you can let them know how you feel about that here
