⚠️ So much harm can be done when the words "just get over it" are put together. It can be almost as bad as whatever the person went through.
Why? 🤔
Because you're adding to the weight they carry by making them feel as though what they went through is not as bad as it was and therefore they have no valid reason to feel the way they do.
What affects us most is usually not the event itself but how we deal with it.
If you know someone that's not dealing with what affects them in a healthy way or you think that they are exaggerating the situation there are better ways to address this without minimizing and invalidating how they feel.
Just because you consider that it's not a big deal you shouldn't assume that that's how they should also see what they went through. You're two completely different beings.
Respect other people and their story. You don't need to understand it, but at least, respect it.
About the painting:
Title: Ophelia
Artist: Friedrich Wilhelm (1857-1921)

POV: Alan Rickman from the renaissance era reads you a poem. Original painting (on second slide) : Goethe as poet and artist in front of Mount Vesuvius Painter: Heinrich Christoph Kolbe Poem: The Long War For Peace Day Author: Laurie Lee Less passionate the long war throws its burning thorn about all men, caught in one grief, we share one wound, and cry one dialect of pain. We have forgot who fired the house Whose easy mischief spilled first blood Under one raging roof we lie The fault no longer understood But as our twisted arms embrace the desert where our cities stood Death's family likeness in each face must show at last our brotherhood - - - #arttherapy #poetryporn #poetryofinstagram #poetrycommunity #poetrylovers #poetsociety #poem #alanrickman #HarryPotter #snape #goethe #renaissance #darkaesthetic #darkacademia #darkacademiaaesthetic #darkacademiavibes #darkacademiabooks #darkacademiastyle https://www.instagram.com/p/CTUjqnmLi12/?utm_medium=tumblr

Time Management One of the most frequent questions I get is: How do you always have time to do so many things? I am messy, I get easily distracted and I'm a procrastinator. But, I know what I want to create, what I want to put out there in the world and what I want to get from it. I know myself well enough to know where I want to be 5 years from now and when those five years come I'll know where I want to be in the next five, so on and so forth. It is because I am aware of my flaws that I am able to address them so that I can achieve what I set myself to. I am messy. So I made myself a schedule that includes all I need to do, including time for relaxing and not overwhelming my mind with chores. I get easily distracted so I made up some rules for myself. For as long as I have pending work I put my phone upside down and if possible I also put it away. If the music is distracting me and making it difficult for me to focus, then I work without it. I'm a procrastinator. The goal, the finish line is omnipresent in my mind. I push myself to do things in time so that later on I don't have to find myself complaining about the lack of time I have, and end up wondering what the heck did I do with all that time? So, as long as it is under my responsibility to deliver something, I can make sure that it won't be delivered late. For my own projects I set myself due dates, I map out the process, calculate how much each task is going to take me and which can be done simultaneously. For anyone who plans on starting personal projects I have one advice: Take a project management course. It's one of the best investments of time you can make. I took one available for free, delivered by the Inter-American Development Bank and it's one of the best decisions I've made. It has helped me a lot to manage my time and tasks properly for my personal projects. Apart from organizing tasks in proper order you have to keep in mind that there are a few things you might have to put aside. For example you may have to reduce how often you go out with friends or reduce the amount of time and frequency you spend on other activities or stop them completely. POV: Renaissance meets Elena Bonham Carter and she reads you a poem. About the original painting: Title: Vigée Le Brun, Self-Portrait Year: 1790 Artist: Élisabeth Louise Vigée-Le Brun Le Brun became a very famous and wealthy painter after she became Queen Marie-Antoinette's official court painter. About the poem: Title: The Guest House Author : Rumi This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond. #rumi #helenabonhamcarter #poetryporn #poetryisnotdead #poetryofig #poetryofinstagram #poetrycommunity #poetrylovers #poetsociety #poem #theguesthouse #readmore #bookblogger #booksofinstagram #timburton #allieesiri #apoemforeveryautumnday (at Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) https://www.instagram.com/p/CS6f7-Rrq_g/?utm_medium=tumblr

Is there a book that you've read that has made a positive impact in your life? Books can provide different perspectives that help us make changes in our lives that are for our overall being. They can challenge us, motivate us, get us to reflect on our lives and they can shape us. Two of the books that so far have made an impact in my life are: Toxic Parents by Susan Forward and Ikigai by Albert Lieberman and Héctor García. The first one taught me about the many negative behaviors and influences toxic parents (or toxic adults who had influence over us as children) can have, negatively impacting us as children, not only during childhood but all the way through adulthood. There are cases presented in the book of people who are well into their 50's and were still dealing with their parents toxic behaviors and paying the consequences because of it. The second book, Ikigai, was very helpful to make a clearer path of what I wanted to do with my life. The exercises shared in the book on developing a strategy to reach goals and to figure out what to do with our lives and how to find that which we connect with, where great and extremely helpful. It's not a difficult read, on the contrary, it's a light, fast read. Easy to digest. So, which book has impacted you the most? #bookworm #bookstagram #ikigai #toxicparents #toxicrelationships #mentalhealth #bookstagrammer #tbr #cottagecore #darkacademia #darkacademiaaesthetic #aesthetic #readmore #booknerd #booksbooksbooks (at Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) https://www.instagram.com/p/CSywebfrK5e/?utm_medium=tumblr

When I write I focus mostly on poetry, it's what comes most naturally to me but, I find it very curious how it occurs. I wonder if you have experienced something similar with your writing, and the process of coming up with ideas. For me it can be very random. At times, all of a sudden I get the first four lines of a stanza or the whole poem, the words just come rushing into my brain. This is why I ALWAYS carry a small notebook and a pen because it can happen while I'm in the bathroom, walking outside, waiting for the metro, lying in bed, etc. It's, very random. I learned my lesson very fast of what it meant to not write down an idea as soon as possible, I'm definitely not going to remember later. Other times though, I only get the title for a poem and I'm left with the task of figuring out what the content of it should be. I never know how it's going to go, I have no idea if the poem will be an easy, light read or if it's going to make the readers scratch their head and wonder: "what the heck is this poem about?". The amount of times that I've been able to sit down and intentionally write are rare, and often times the outcomes are not my favorite. Therefore, instead of forcing it, I just wait until I get an idea rushing in and I write it down as quickly as I can. For example: Last night I dreamt with my dog, she passed way a year ago, we spent 15 years together, it still hurts to not have her around and I miss her a lot. When I woke up this morning, as I was pouring some water into a cup, the words: "and I see her again" came into my mind. I immediately knew it was a title for a poem about still seeing my dog (in my dreams) even though she's not around anymore. So that's how my writing process usually starts, in unexpected, unplanned ways, and honestly? I love it. Some of my favorite poems have come into being, that way. So, what does your writing process look like? 🤔 - - - #writingskills #writerscommunity #igwriters #instawriters #wordporn #poetrycommunity #poetryporn #bookstagrammer #poetryisnotdead #poetry #writemore #writerofig #writerssociety #writerssupportingwriters #bookworm https://www.instagram.com/p/CSwUk95LVgN/?utm_medium=tumblr

POV: Renaissance meets Benedict Cumberbatch and he reads you a poem. Painting: Portrait of a man Year: ca. 1475 Artist: Hugo van der Goes (c. 1430/1440 – 1482) Hugo van der Goes (active ca. 1440-1482) was one of the major portraitists of 15th-century Europe, at a time when portraiture gained importance under the impact of the new individualism fostered by humanism. A common type of portrait was the depiction of a man or woman in prayer, experiencing a vision, often of the Virgin. The heightened realism of this portrait, especially the beard stubble, is a hallmark of his work. By setting the man’s head against a dark interior, next to a bright window, the accentuated contrast of light and shadow enhances the modeling of the facial features. The portrait was later cut into an oval shape from a rectangular panel, which probably originally formed part of a devotional triptych. The sitter, with his hands joined in eternal prayer, directs his gaze toward the missing religious image. Poem: My Heart Leaps Up Author:William Wordsworth - 1770-1850 My heart leaps up when I behold A rainbow in the sky: So was it when my life began; So is it now I am a man; So be it when I shall grow old, Or let me die! The Child is father of the Man; And I could wish my days to be Bound each to each by natural piety. #benedictcumberbatch #renaissance #renaissanceart #lightacademia #darkacademia #poetryisnotdead #poetrycommunity #poetryporn #poetry #arthistory #deadpoetssociety #sherlock #sherlockholmes #doctorstrange #avengers #bookstagram (at Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) https://www.instagram.com/p/CSurawjrRaz/?utm_medium=tumblr

"The only evidence Hey old friend, Remember the days I bought you a gift? It was always your favorite treat. I have a picture of that day, you were elated, the only evidence that you were celebrated. How about the day we sang together? Here's a video of that day, look at you, enjoying yourself. Here's another one of us laughing together, the only evidence that we had a great time together. Hahah do you remember this voice note you sent me? You were telling me all about your new crush and how your foot bent and you spilled coffee all over him by accident. By listening to your voice I could tell how embarrassed you were. That voice note, the only evidence that ever opened up to me. Have you ever realized that eventually, as time passes by, the only evidence you will have that those you love ever existed will be a photograph, a video, a voice recording. Why is it so hard for you to reach out to those you love? And why is it easier for you to stand before a coffin to then say the words you never had the time to say? "oh, I loved you so much" They're dead, they can't hear you. "I often thought about you and wondered how you were doing." They're dead, they can't hear you. "I miss you" They're dead, they can't hear you. Love, affection, being present, they're not for the dead, they're meant for the living. Loving someone is not a guarantee of being loved in return. You love someone? Let them know. You miss someone? Let them know. To love is to release the other person from the obligation of loving you in return, should they reflect affection back to you it should be by their own desire and will, not by demand. To love is to let them stay if they want to or to let them go if they want to. To love is also for you to walk away if necessary, or to stay if desired. Love and appreciation are feeling of the living, the only ones that while alive can be forgiving. Don't wait until you stand before a coffin to cry out "should've, could've, would've" when the only things a coffin has inside are expired hopes and dreams and no one to listen." - @bkgonbau - - - #arttherapy #mentalhealth #arts #psychology #artheals #mindfulart #journaling #poetrytherapy #poetsofinstag https://www.instagram.com/p/CPrchunH1DU/?utm_medium=tumblr

Great activity to help kids develop problem-solving skills and also for them to learn that they can choose how to react before a problem that they've encountered and how to face it in order to solve it. I think this activity can even be very useful for adults who struggle with problem-solving. This activity helps putting things into different perspectives. - - - 🙌 Save if you're a parent/teacher/therapist. ❤️ Share this post with those you know will DEFINITELY benefit from it! ❤️ - - - #arttherapy #arttherapie #arteterapia #mentalhealth #arts #psychology #therapy #drawing #healing #carljung #cbt #psychologyblog #cbttherapy #problemsolving https://www.instagram.com/p/CPFBn8HHoX3/?utm_medium=tumblr

Poem about overthinking about what the future holds. "Too Much Sometimes I think, that I think too much, and when I get overwhelmed, I start to shut down. Without a doubt in my mind, I know there's something wrong, but there's not a lot to do, besides sit and wait, to decide if I want to let fate, take it's course of action, to make me think more, or maybe think less. Now I wonder what it's like, to have an empty mind, to stop thinking for just a minute, a day, an hour, any real time at all, other than when I'm sleeping, but even then, my overactive imagination, makes me feel scared and worried, and not relaxed or at ease. So tell me fate, what do you want from me, that you make me think too much, and never miss a beat." - Serene G. - - - Can you relate? 🤔 - - - What comes to mind when you see this? ❤️ Comment below! 👇 - - - #arttherapy #arttherapie #arteterapia #mentalhealth #arts #psychology #artheals #mindfulart #therapy #drawing #healing #carljung #poetrytherapy #poetry #poem #poetrycommunity #psychologyblog #psychologymemes - - - 🎨:Unknown https://www.instagram.com/p/CPCZO4pH8Tr/?utm_medium=tumblr
