When you have no ability for class analysis, it is a very short idealogical step from "distrust of pharmaceutical companies" to "distrust of modern medicine as a whole" to "judeo-bolsheviks are poisoning white babies for profit"

This trend will continue until people have access to non-predatory healthcare. Conspiracism thrives when people are failed by the systems they rely on.

today i hit the breaks 3 times !! for a little sparrow who could not decide if she wanted to be in the road or not. people passed me and yelled at me for it but no one died and the flow of traffic wasnt even harmed! your post felt very fateful to see afterwards because it bummed me out thinking about the lack of remorse if i wasnt the first car in that situation

i got stuck behind a porcupine the other day…i beeped and he continued to walk straight down the middle of the lane and i was not able to pass him. so i kinda just waited it out. if you can safely not kill an animal that’s a best case scenario! i just also try to drive extra carefully on country roads/areas where wildlife are plentiful

Protecting bugs at large does not mean we have to put up with parasites, or disease-spreaders, or even the ones that bite. I saw a study investigating the question of, if humans figured out a way to wipe out mosquitoes, (given they spread malaria) would it affect the ecosystem much? And the answer was No.

Not all individual species are that important.

As long as we investigate beforehand, there’s no inherent reason to assert we have to keep every single one of the varieties around.

Part of the reason I'm so adamant about encouraging people to get comfortable with bugs, my own interests aside, is because we cannot have a bright, solarpunk future without them.

A green future is not a bugless future. It is, in fact, a fairly bugful future. If you care about ecological stability, then you need to start with bugs, because they're the most at risk with our current use of pesticides.
