We attended MomoCon in Atlanta from May 26 to May 29.

We attended Indy PopCon in Indianapolis from June 3 to June 5.

Gallium Games

We released The Hepatica Spring, a fluffy romance/friendship visual novel on Feb 27.

We released Dead Man’s Rest, a Wild West themed BL visual novel, on Mar 14.

We announced Guilded Hearts, a new slice-of-life BL visual novel, on Aug 17. Wishlist it on Steam if you haven’t yet!

We ran a successful Kickstarter for Guilded Hearts from Oct 15-Nov 14.

We’re planning a lot for 2023…

Description:

Quiet, gentle, and kind, Hoshek presents himself as the most sympathetic of gentlemen. His deep, whispered words are borderline hypnotic, and it’s easy to feel relaxed around him. Something about his presence lulls one into an unconsciously calm state.

As a funeral home director, he adopts a consistently soothing manner due to his work, helping his clients through their time of grieving and preparing their loved ones for a final rest.

Few vampires trust Hoshek, however, due to his association with the Fourth House. He has a slightly eerie detachment from reality, with a gaze that seems perpetually focused on something not quite visible.

A: We’re actually always open for applications! While RE:P is our long-term main AG project, we’ll always have ongoing new projects on our side label (Gallium Games). CHAE-WON

Description:

A midwife, blood bank manager, and former mudang, Chae-won is a formidable yet sweet woman with a motherly presence – and a vampire of the Fourth House. She is one of its three known members in Las Vegas.

Chae-won runs a clinic for impoverished women in Chinatown with the help of her assistant, Jack. They provide their services completely free. However, rumor has it that Chae-won’s “special fridge” contains blood for sale…at a fabulous price.

She radiates calm, ageless wisdom, and yet there’s something distinctly unnerving about her. It’s almost as if Chae-won is a mere visitor to this world, not an actual denizen of it.

May I pleeeease get a movie recommendation(s) from Heath? I’ve actually watched/rewatched the movie selections he picked in the game and enjoyed them so much!

A: We’re delighted that you enjoyed them! We passed along your question to Heath, who was very tickled. He recommends “The Man Who Fell to Earth” if you want something stylish and thoughtful, “I Heart Huckabees” if you’re looking for meaning, and “Dark City” for a stylish sci-fi flick.

I’m curious, Ulysses isn’t a potential love interest?

A: Presently, no. However, certain characters may be voted on for potential romance routes when we reach the crowdfunding stage for RE:P.

Is Rosalind Asian? One of my friends is Chinese and has the same surname Mai and it’s a surprise to see since it’s usually transliterated as Mak instead.

A: She is! Rosalind is half-Vietnamese, half-Korean.

Is Markus going to be included in RE:P? He is my favourite character.

A: We can never quite predict when Markus is going to show up, but it’s a good idea to always be prepared…

You said the new game Red Embrace: Paradisus will be released in 2023, right?

A: We’d ideally like to release RE:P by the end of 2023, but development may go beyond that depending on our circumstances + if any additional content ends up being added through Kickstarter!

A: Saorise is the type of lady who’d enjoy Billie Holiday classics, like “I’ll Be Seeing You”. Meanwhile, you’ll catch Aleusha jamming to Gothic hits like Type O Negative, especially “Christian Woman”.

Is there any voice acting in Red Embrace: Paradisus?

A: Possibly! If we can get the budget for it, we’d love to include partial English VA in RE:P. It’ll depend on the success of any Kickstarter/crowdfunding campaign we end up doing down the line.

Description:

Warm, soft-spoken, and stunningly intelligent, Koziol is an anatomical scientist and surgeon of otherworldly skill. Despite their outwardly shy nature, however, Koziol seems to show rather obsessive tendencies towards the objects of their desire. They possess a poetic, almost romantic appreciation for the body and all its workings.

The Golgotha’s greatest power lies in crafting technological implants, which combine circuitry with the arcane powers of vampire blood to enhance – and transform – a subject. Rumors abound of the dangerously potent strength that these implants can offer.

Koziol mostly keeps to themself, unaffiliated with any faction, though friendly to all. But when they’re implicated in the gathering darkness over Las Vegas, a reckoning may be at hand.

With the two smashing recent releases and REP steadily churning along in production (which is looking phenomenal!), is there already plans for another game in store since AG seems to always be producing games concurrently? Do we get a little hint or is it going to be another collaboration such as it usually is with Gallium?

A: There are plans indeed! In fact, we’re working on two new visual novels at the moment–stay tuned for more details in the next couple of months. :)

Hi! I love ReH and is there any hope we’ll ever see Jack in Red Embrace Paradisus?

A: While it’s unlikely Jack would make a major appearance in RE:P, you might very well spot him…somewhere. Probably getting into trouble.

Is Zhang romancable?

A: No, not presently. The currently 3 planned optional love interests are Dakayivani, Rosalind, and Koziol. Any additional LIs will depend on the amount of success/public response RE:P receives in Early Access and/or Kickstarter later!

How old are the male and female characters in Red Embrace Hollywood?

From oldest to youngest: Andrei > Saorise > Zhang > Randal > Heath > Aleusha > Jack > Lazarus. (Markus: ???)

Is there any tip to unlock 100% of the REH text? I can’t seem to go beyond 94% even though I have already completed all endings and have replayed it a few times already.

A: It would be very difficult to unlock 100% of the text, as there are numerous small text snippets that occur for unique blends of House/choices/ending path/route. We actually avoided making a 100% text achievement for this very reason, haha. The best advice we can give is to skip through every route with each house, and make sure you’ve visited Lazarus a second time in Markus’ normal ending. We admire your dedication immensely!

Just wanted to congratulate Zhang for finally getting a pair of eyes! Thank you devs for bringing him back <3 PS @Zhang, how does it feel to have eyes now?

A: We passed along your question to Zhang, who replied:

“It’s simply marvelous! Things did get so dreadfully claustrophobic underneath my hat. I was always bumping into trees and lampposts, too, very inconvenient. But no longer! If anyone wishes to share a third eye with me, however, I certainly wouldn’t say no.”

Zhang

Description:

The sly and jovial vampire known mononymously as Zhang is infamous for his scheming. He’s particularly perceptive of others’ weaknesses, and often twists this to his advantage. Yet despite his devious ways, he zealously upholds his promises, and can be intensely loyal to those he deems worthy.

Zhang runs Maodun Consulting, a law office in Chinatown. As an attorney, his skill for “convincing” the prosecution to drop their case is unmatched, although his methodology is somewhat dubious. He takes great pride in his work, and has yet to actually step foot in a courtroom.

In recent times, however, Zhang seems more distracted and unsettled. His Lucaci contacts whisper of him with concern, while his enemies seek to take advantage of his weakness.

Hi! Got a couple questions- -Will Ulysses be dateable? -Noticed sh0d03’s artwork in this game is a lot more realistic than in RE:H. Was that requested and if so, is there a reason for that?

Ulysses is not presently planned to be romanceable, though it’s possible things may change later down the line if enough community interest is shown!

As for sh00’s art, we didn’t request any intentional shift, but we have been relying on real-life photo references for RE:P art. We think the more realistic lean also fits well with RE:P’s atmosphere, which is sharper than RE:H’s movie-like glitz.

RE:P Alpha v0.0.2.1 Update

We recently just launched the first update for RE:P’s alpha! It includes a new area, a pair of new NPCs, an extra skill/trait addition, and some extra polish updates!

Description:

Laid-back, playfully snarky, and an unabashed geek, Rosalind is a far cry from most tormented vampires. She relies on logic and hates drama, and would rather deal with problems that can be IP banned.

Ros is loosely associated with the NetiZen vampires, and one can occasionally spot her hanging around their base. For the most part, however, she’s a loner. The Iscari prefers to stay online, building websites, running forums, and roleplaying in MUDs. She has a charming talent for drawing cute, cartoonish characters (and particularly likes drawing girls).

Since she seems to lack ambition and has zero interest in “real world” issues–with a pointed avoidance of politics and religion–it’s hard to tell what drives Ros. Sometimes, it seems like she may not know the answer herself, either.

THE FACTIONS (ft. Salvador)

We’re taking a brief break from character introductions for something a little bit different today!

We’ve recruited Salvador, your first friend in the vampire underworld, to give us a brief rundown of the two main factions in Red Embrace: Paradisus. We’re quite fortunate that he took time out of his busy schedule to oblige us.

(Note: The following interview is an edited version of dialogue that will appear in next month’s Alpha build update.)

The NetiZen and the Lucaci Group

“You wanna know about the factions, huh?” Scratching his beard, Sal sniffs and twists his mouth to one side, apparently musing on your question.

“I’ll give you a little rundown, but you’re better off talking to the people who run the damn things.” He heaves a sigh, although you sense he’s not as disgruntled as he’s trying to be. “I wish they had info handouts or some shit, would make my job a lot easier.

“Well, first off, you have the NetiZen folks. Their name’s cheesy enough to induce cardiac arrest, but they’re smart—so smart it kinda scares me.” Sal shudders theatrically.

“They’re mostly young vampires, all wild about technology. They think it’s the future for our kind, our only hope of survival, that kind of shit.”

How do you think they’d react to MC?

“Eh, I’d say if MC makes a good enough impression, NetiZen would probably let ‘em in. They’re a lot friendlier to new vampires than old ones.”

Do they have a political ideology of some kind?

“Uh…maybe.” He doesn’t seem convinced. “I think they’re more about spiritual stuff than politics…oh yeah, and they like rave parties a lot. Does that tell you about their politics?” A little snicker.

“The other big corpse club out there is the Lucaci Group—though most people just call ‘em the Lucaci. It’s Romanian, I think. Really thematic, don’t you agree?

“Now, the Lucaci’s a bunch of traditional types, mostly older vampires, who’re filthy fucking rich. They basically own the Strip, and they’ve got a huge chunk of Vegas in their pockets.

“The group’s run by three dead folks…” He snaps his fingers a few times, then lets out a resigned sigh. “The names, uh, escape me. They’re weird people, but I gotta hand it to them—they do their best to keep the locals happy.”

And what would they think of MC?

Sal ponders this for a moment, squinting slightly. “That’s tricky. The Lucaci would probably let MC work for ‘em, but they’d really have to bring their A-game.”

Do they enforce any rules on other vampires, since they’re so powerful?

“You’d think they would, but for the most part, they don’t bother.” He smirks wryly. “Probably because it’s easier for them to just throw money at whatever problems people cause. Enforcing rules takes a lot of time and money. Not worth it.

“They do have a beef with the NetiZen kids though, and vice versa, so just be aware of that. It’s not open war or anything, but if you play nice with one…the other will probably tell you to go fuck yourself.

“But yeah, that’s the factions.” Sal claps his hands together with satisfaction. “Once all this chaos blows over, maybe MC will join one. Or maybe they won’t.”

He pauses, his eyes glimmering devilishly in the light. “Just a roll of the dice.”

Description:

Reckless yet paranoid, hedonistic yet brooding, kind yet very self-serving—Ulysses is a step beyond comprehension, in no small part due to his fondness for psychedelics. He talks fast and sharply, and gives off a sense of perpetual anticipation, like he’s waiting for a catastrophe to strike at any moment. Despite his restless energy, he’s surprisingly easy-going and dislikes conflict.

As a human photographer and journalist, he has an intense interest in vampires. Because of his touristy appearance, he’s able to document them effectively without arousing suspicion. Of course, he can’t publish his stories about the underworld publicly, but he’s often contracted by vampires to track down the activities of other vampiric parties.

Ulysses’ deadpan humor and blurred sense of irony make him hard to read, and even harder to predict. He may be mortal, but he’s a clever minnow in a sea of bloodthirsty sharks—it’d be a mistake to underestimate him.

RE:P Patreon Ongoing Alpha NOW LIVE!

We’re super excited to announce that the very first playable version of Red Embrace: Paradisus can now be accessed via our Patreon!

Our plan** for RE:P is to release monthly Patreon updates for the alpha, until we’re ready to enter Steam Early Access—hopefully sometime in early 2023. The funds from Patreon will go towards RE:P’s development, and the community will also be able to significantly contribute to the final game through feedback/suggestions/playtesting.

Alpha Details (important!)

Please make sure you read the details below before joining the alpha, so you know what to expect!

How will the alpha work?

All Patrons at the Orb ($5) tier and up will receive access to the monthly alpha updates (while still a Patron)

Joining our Discord will grant you a Steam key + access to Patron-exclusive alpha discussion channels

The alpha Steam key will also grant access to the full game upon release

Each month, we will release new content and fixes, as well as allow higher-tier Patrons to submit/vote on new design additions

What should I expect in the current alpha (v0.0.1.1)?

It’s important to note that this alpha is NOT for the complete game. Instead, we’re putting out a very early prototype that initially features the game’s intro sequence/first night. Future updates will gradually expand the amount of content, and the full game will be much, much longer.

We’re quite pleased to say that some of Sh00’s lovely art (the character and event artist from Red Embrace: Hollywood) is already in, though—so you’ll get to enjoy shiny character portraits and a few CGs!

Upcoming RE:P Alpha!

Hello all!

We’re thrilled to announce that the Red Embrace: Paradisus alpha is set to launch for Patrons this upcoming Monday.

This weekend we’ll be redoing our Patreon tiers a little, to add some new RE:P related rewards (polls, content submissions, etc). All Patrons at the Orb ($5) tier and up will gain access to the alpha while an active Patron, and your key will also let you play the full game when it’s released.

We’ll be posting on Monday with full details about what to expect in this initial alpha, and how we plan to launch new content going forward.

It’s very exciting for us to start involving the community so early in development, as RE:P currently only has a very tiny fraction of its planned content. We can’t wait to hear your feedback and thoughts on the game going forward!
