I'm so confused about how to use Tumblr, posted this in a community and thought it would appear on my blog too. Here I go again I suppose.
Got so dizzy making this, and I hope it was worth it:)

Guess who just finished the Magnus Archives!! I love the mortal garden, its so girlypop. Its fun to draw things that are horrifyingly beautiful. Quite hard to figure out which bones and meat chunks would go where, but I got some pretty nice drawings out of it.

Over the holidays I tried to paint myself in the arcane artstyle. It's not as spot on as other people's selfportraits (probably because I'm a bit of a noob at painting digitally), but I like it a lot still. After all the posts and artworks I'd seen I thought it would be easier to draw the face, but I ended up being more happy with the hand. Idk, what happened with the clothes, that was by far the hardest part to figure out and I gave up on the flowers lol. Also, this artstyle makes scars and skin imperfections look so cool. Thats why I tried to add a robot finger where the scar of my "exstra finger" is (I might try to make more designs for it), and I made the scars/wounds on my fingers bigger. People irl say that they look like burn scars even though it's just peeled skin, so I expanded on that.
I also made a small backstory for who I would be in the show. I feel like the flower-vest make me look like someone with a flowershop, but if its in Zaun, then it might be a shop that also deals in poisonous plants. I wouldnt be involved in the final battle, but in the chaos someone might've burned my shop down to take revenge for a loved one killed by my poisons. Maybe they somehow made my thumb motionless/useless and thats why I got the extra robot finger? Or maybe I just felt like it. Like Sevika, I could probably switch tools on the prosthetic, but instead of her big weapons it might be something more mundane like pencils, hobby knives, syringes and stuff. But yeah, this artstyle actually made me feel good about drawing things about myself that I normally would leave out. And that makes this drawing feel so much more personal. What an awesome show. Great representation too, I actually felt like I had enough references.

A short mistborn comic made with watercolor, colored pencils and digital lineart.
I colored the drawing two times: one with watercolor and one with colored pencils. Thereafter I merged them digitally in Photoshop by layering them onto eachother and erasing parts of the top to reveal the bottom layer.

This woman is Mogli Smith, my boyfriends dnd character. She's a half orc with a flair for magic.
If this post somehow manages to reach someone who doesnt know me, here's a little introduction to this account: My name is Rachel, and I love to paint, draw and create stuff! My art typically explores stories about the mythical or fantastical both when I do fanart and in my original art. Everything cozy, warm, fairytale-related, detailed and natureinspired is right up my alley. I hope you'll stay around to see what I create next! I also take commissions;)

This is yet another fanart piece on my homemade chair. It's from my favorite route from the game Slay the Princess. I really recommend the game to anyone who likes storybased games, and to explore all paths and options one can take. There's so much to explore, and I've only seen a little more than half of the game by now.

Painted another artwork on my homemade chair thingy. Aaaand you guessed it, its fanart for a Brandon Sanderson book. Tress of the emerald sea is such a gem. Pirates and magical spore seas? Thats all I need to be entertained.

I really love the creatures in Brandon Sandersons worlds, especially the kandra. This is my version of how they could look like. I also imagine that the skeleton could have a more abstract shape, while the translucent muscles would be what makes the silhuette more human. I will probably draw that version next. Also, this drawing was great for practicing anatomy. Its so much more fun to believe that you're drawing a creature from a book, rather than studying the real human body lol.
(also, for those who've read the whole mistborn series: I know I added more spikes than they normally have, it just looks better that way. )
