Framed by an extraordinary atmosphere suspended in time, in the narrow and colorful alleys of Sperlonga (Latina province, Lazio), the Sanctae Mariae de Spelonchae hosts until September 23rd the first Arthink-book art show organized by Arthink editions.
The exhibition opening was held Friday, September 15, showing for the first time to the public the Arthink-book with a collection of artworks by the artist Francesco Pezzuco.
Arthink-book opens up many questions in this first show, fascinating visitors and showing anyone who wants to discover his true "essence."
An author's book-picture who is never constrained to static. A visive experience created to be temporary and interchangeable.
A change in the way of conceiving art in relation to its spaces.
Each Arthink-book is a painting, a limited edition artwork and licensed by the author.
Pezzuco's art is alongside the works of the authors: Mary Cinque, Elena Pensiero and Ryan Spring Dooley.
The exhibition also hosts a preview of a selection of artworks of the #VinylArthink contest, currently in progress and expiring on October 8th.

Andy Warhol and Silkscreen
Silkscreen is ancient technique that basically permits to print a remarkable number of good quality copies of a design. For a longtime it was used silk for the screens, for that the name, now the screens are made with modern materials, but the process is just the same: is a kind of more sofisticated stencil, but with more accuracy; the design is imprinted on the surface and a catalyst isolates the rest so that it creates a matrix with which is possible to imprint the design practically everywhere. Like xilography it can be composed by various levels and many colours, or refinished by hand.
The XX Century saw the artist that gaveto silkscreening a very important role using it as tool to import into Fine Art World a new Art: Pop Art. His name is Andy Warhol, and even to whom that don't say anything whoever knows many of his works.
Andy Warhol came from an immigrant family and made himself from nothing; he was deeply fascinated about popular items, and the object's repetition of the 60's economic boom that he saw every day on TV, advertising and in supermarkets, so he took this fascination into his Art realizing series of canvas depicting daily things, such as a simple can of tomato soup, a column of crime news or star system persona. His silkscreen canvas, realized in his famous New York Factory by his assistants under his direction, represented all the american dreams, realized in numbered series so that everybody (everybody who could afford them)can take home a piece of that colective imaginary still-room. Andy Warhol just used what was already iconic: Marylin Monroe, the electric chair, Mao Tze Dong, Brillo soap boxes, a banana, Marlon Brando and so on. It was a celebration of objects.
Who knows what Andy would have thought about an Arthink Book?
