*I will still make the comic in the background, but Tumblr would turn into the only place with live updates. ComicFury readers would not be able to partake in polls but would get the full comic -- Tumblr would not be getting the full comic but would get updates on when pages are posted to ComicFury.

I'm making this poll because I've been writing bits and pieces and trying to solidify a few narrative things -- I paused the comic because I felt like I was rushing into this project. I'm having a lot of fun writing, but it's a very different experience to what I was planning with the comic. Expressing things in text is very different from expressing things in drawings.

I won't be able to stream on the 10th, but I might be able to tomorrow on the 9th!

I'm going camping this weekend with family, and wasn't told until after I made my post saying I would be streaming every weekend. It happens, but it's annoying.

That being said, I think tomorrow might be an art stream! I'm not sure what I'm going to work on exactly -- maybe some Skeptic propaganda or other voice designs -- I want to crack down on Paranoid's because hers is the one I'm least happy with.

If not art, I'll probably play some Wizard with a Gun :]

Updates

Hi all! Just wanted to share some updates for my online presence :]

It's a bit of a long post, so I'm putting it under a read more, but everything is boiled down to a paragraph or a few bullet points!

🔴 Streams and Videos

Starting May 9th, I'm going to start streaming every Friday and Saturday!

I plan on streaming myself drawing and also playing games -- sometimes with friends, sometimes on my own.

On top of that, I plan on recording speedpaints and recording commentary for them -- a lot of this will be me designing characters! Art streams will also include these topics

Reorganized Commissions

I've changed up my commissions! I have changed the item listings, retired old ones, and added some fresh art!

Talk Sprites, Minecraft Skins, and PNGtuber models have been retired for the time being.

Full-Body drawings have 3 open slots per year. Custom Designs have 2 slots per year.

Half-Bodies have 4 openings quarterly. Custom Wallpapers have 2 slots quarterly.

Emoji Packs have only 1 slot per month. The amount of emojis you can get in a pack has been changed to a maximum of 5, with a deal if you get a 10 pack.

Icons, Chibis, and Busts are always open at larger but still limited slots.

All commissions have had their add-ons and prices tweaked. Commissions will open again in mid-June, or after I get my current backlog finished up.

Wallpapers and Adopts

I plan on working on desktop and phone wallpapers, and I also want to make a few adopts every quarter to sell! I'm very slowly working on this, and I hope I can get some stuff out this summer!

Physical Merch

I really do want to make fan merch and the likes in the form of stickers and charms. I don't know how feasible it's going to be with the current environment of the country I live in, but I'm going to see if I can't get something done this autumn.

(AKA I hate AI image generators so fucking much that I published a whole ass academic article on it)

Read the Paper: Art in the Machine: Value Misalignment and AI "Art"

The purpose of the original paper and now this post is the following:

Provide at least one academic article that you can cite. (Full paper + citation available below)

Make explicit community values that have previously been implicit, in order to better examine your own perceptions of the online artist community, and where you sit within it.

Provide rebuttals to common pro-AI talking points, with the intention of shutting down the conversation and reclaiming the narrative. 

What this paper and post cannot do:

Act as a sole authority about the online artist community and its values. We are not a monolith, and it is up to you to think critically about what, exactly, you want to take away from this discussion.

Provide a way to convince AI Evangelists that what they’re doing is wrong and bad and needs to stop. You will never convince them. Again, focus on shutting them down and reclaiming the narrative.

Final Disclaimer: I'm a very fallible researcher who is still very much learning how to do academia. I cannot speak for the entirety of the online artist community or fanartist community. We all have different lived experiences. I have done my best to include diverse voices; however if you have concerns or critiques, I am open to hearing them.

If you show up to debate in favor of AI image generators, you will be automatically blocked.

Heather Nightscales

Heather Nightscales is a yuan-ti back from the dead. All she has are fragmented memories of her past life, all up to the point where their father carved them open in ritualistic sacrifice.
