Tron: Uprising

A phenomenal show created, and then killed, by Disney (and I will forever have beef with them about it).

Originally slated to have a season 1, a tv movie, followed by (I think) a season 2. Disney started airing the new episode during absurd timeslots (read: midnight) then used the drop in viewers to not only cancel the movie and the second season, but to cut the first season short ("Hey, y'know how you thought you'd have four more episodes to end the season? We're changing that. You now have two episodes - two episodes to wrap up all the storylines and character arcs. Toodles!").

The characters were compelling, and the animation style was dynamic and clearly made with a lot of love and care. Not to mention, Tron himself (the one and only Bruce Boxleitner) was in the cast!

Do me a favour and reblog this with a show you like that was cancelled after only one season. I don't mean shows that were always meant to be miniseries or shows that work perfectly well as a standalone story, or shows that might still get renewed. I mean shows that are and will forever remain unfinished. The more obscure the better.

It's flippin' CRAZY that I find this while I'm caught in the grip of listening to Epic for the first time - especially after listening to Luck Runs Out and thinking that it fits Ethan perfectly? (Also thinking that Odysseus and Ethan have the same kind of raw intelligence and ability to out-think their opponents?)

Don't wait for streaming, people. Support good cinema. Support Tom Cruise who puts so much love into making these movies the best that they can be. Go watch Final Reckoning in theaters.

And THIS is why I'm an Ethan stan.

I forgot how Mission Impossible is such a better spy/action franchise compared to 007.

Ethan Hunt became such an amazing character because McQuarrie and Tom Cruise aren't afraid to make him vulnerable or to allow him to fail.

James Bond in comparison seems the "too cool for all of this" character that doesn't seem to give a shit, that's too cold and it's too busy with being cool as opposed to functioning as a character.

Is not just about cool stunts, is about the fact that Ethan feels like an actual person that actually cares about others more than anything and that won't stop to protect all of them.

They allow him to show emotions, to show empathy. He's not this big macho dude that doesn't give a damn or tries to act like he doesn't give a damn. No. He's not afraid to show humanity or to show how much he values people and I love that.

Also they write and treat women as actual women unlike some franchises.
