“leave me alone, rafe. i don’t want to talk to you.”

you're impressed with yourself, nearly expecting your arms to automatically open wide and accept him back just like that. but they don't, they stay firmly wrapped around yourself and as much as it pains you to realise, you don't want them around him anymore.

rafe runs a hand over his head, a frustrated sigh falling past his lips. he's been driving for hours and you won't even give him the time of day. taking cautious steps, he slowly approaches you until he's standing in front of you.

when you don't react, he kneels down in front of you and places a hesitant hand on your hip. his fingers barely graze your skin before you're quick to grab his hand and throw it off you. the feeling of his skin on yours is too much for you to handle. though your heart and body yearns to be wrapped up in his arms again, your mind is just about strong enough to not allow it to happen.

"let me explain, baby, please." he begs, his voice cracking.

"i said leave me alone," you sigh, yet you can feel your anger bubbling just beneath the surface, "there's nothing to explain."

you already know what he'll say - pathetic excuses and apologies about how much he messed up and that he regrets it. words you can't let yourself be fooled by.

rafe's shoulders sag as the words reach his ears. his hand slowly raises to grab your hip before he drops it back to his side in defeat. he's never felt so helpless before and he hates it. having you so close yet completely out of reach makes his heart ache in a way he never thought possible.

"you don't mean that, we can't end it like this," he whispers, voice thick with emotion as he looks up at you through wet lashes, "there must be something i can do. i'll do anything. i'll wait for you, i'll give you space. i'll do it for you and for our baby. i promise, y/n."

you refuse to look at him, instead keeping your eyes fixed on the ocean, willing yourself not to cry. his stare is burning into your skin and the faintest trace of forgiveness he's looking for from you is nowhere to be seen.

rafe stays kneeling in front of you, never taking his eyes off your face, searching for a crack in your amour. he's trying to maintain his composure, but his breathing is laboured and he's desperately blinking away the tears that blur his vision.

"no. i mean it, rafe. i need you to leave me alone." you say firmly, the words sharp, "i don't want you to wait. i won't stop you from being involved with the baby, but i don't want you to wait for me because i can't be with you anymore. i can't forgive you."

every part of you screams to walk away and never look back, to let him face the consequences of his actions alone. however, your feet remain rooted to the spot, as if a part of you is silently willing rafe to beg harder to fix this, even though you know it wouldn't change anything.

"you don't mean that," he says softly, "you still love me, i know you do. please, just tell me what to do to fix this."

"you shouldn't have to ask me how to fix this. and i do still love you," you admit, your voice barely above a whisper, "but i don't trust you, rafe. you've made your bed. now, lie in it."

for a split second, you think he's going to argue. his lips part to say something but the words never make it past them. so, before you can change your mind, you turn on your heel and quickly walk over to your car, each step feeling heavier than the last. you don't look back, even when you hear him choke out a broken plea. behind you, rafe stays kneeling in the sand, watching as you walk further and further out of his life.

once you reach the car, you let out a trembling breath and attempt to compose yourself. sliding into the driver's seat, the jagged edges of your keys dig into your palm and you squeeze them tighter, as if turning your emotional pain into physical pain will somehow help. for a moment, you just sit and stare, the weight of the day's events crashing down on you.

a few minutes pass before you start the car, and the last thing you see before driving off is rafe sitting in the sand with his head in his hands and knees pulled up to his chest. the thought of going back crosses your mind and you force yourself to look away, to focus on the road instead. you don't know where you're going, only that you can't go home.

as crybaby!reader walked into the Island country club, she wasn’t so shocked to see rafe and his friends. rafe, was shocked to see his innocent little doll there though.

she moved to the bar where she always got her shirley temple! she never got an alcoholic drink, not ever liking the taste of it. rafe smirked a little when he saw this, thinking about how cute she is. soon he left his buddies, making way to his sweet, sweet girl.

“hey doll, whatcha listenin’ to?” he sits behind her on the bar stool.

“oh! hi rafe. im listening to the fray, look after you.” she mumbles softly, going to take another sip of her drink.

“the fray? never heard of them.” when he said that, her eyes lit up, she loved talking about her favorite music.

“they’re an alternative and likeee traditional rock band!” she murmurs excitedly to him. she continues on and on about her favorite music while rafe sat there listening, staring at her, specifically her eyes and lips.

“hey doll?” he questions her, “let me take you on a date.”

“i- y- wait what?!” she exclaims.

“let me take you out, sweetheart.” he places a hand on her thigh, rubbing it with his thumb.

“i- okay.” she blushes at his action.

“good girl, gonna show you the best time ever.” a faint smile appearing on his lips.

when rafe picked her up from her home, she was soooo nervous. her tummy was in shambles, it hurt and when he opened the passenger side door of his truck, it made her tummy do flips! she got inside of his truck, the sounds of her favorite artist playing on his speakers caught her attention.

“power trip j.cole?” she murmurs to him once he got into the driver’s seat. he ignored her comment at first, leaning over to put her seat belt on.

“what’s up with it, baby? you don’t like it?” he pauses after putting her seat belt on, leaning over the center console and looking at her, their faces so close she felt his warm minty breath on her face.

“no-no! i love.. i love j.cole.. j.cole and miguel..” she murmurs softly. a smirk appears on rafe’s lips, suddenly a kiss is planted on her cheeks. she blushes at that, freezing.

“w-why- what? what was that for?” she fusses.

“yur s’damn cute, doll.” he chuckles softly, shaking his head as he settles back into the driver’s seat. he put on his seatbelt, driving over to the restaurant he reserved for them both.

when they arrived to the restaurant, he hopped out the truck after shutting the engine off. he came over to the passenger side, opening the door for her.

“come on, doll, let go.” he grabs her hand, leading her into the restaurant. once seated, he just stares at her, admiring her cute bootcut jeans, her black long sleeve and the necklace around her neck.

“whatcha gonna get, sweetheart?” he murmurs.

“shirley temple!” she murmurs softly.

“oh really? no alcohol for you?” he looks a little surprised but in reality, he knows he shouldn’t be. she’s a god damn sweetheart, so damn soft and sweet.

“no.. i don’t like it.. it’s nasty..” she shakes her head, imagining how it tastes in her mouth.

“such a sweet girl.. i’m gonna get a beer, mkay?” he drawls out.

they continue their dinner, the atmosphere making her and him open up. rafe has never been like this with a woman before. he’s had experience, of course. a fling there, five hookups here, two relationships before he ended them after hating how annoying the girls were.. but y/n? his sweet, sweet, doll? no.. never, never annoying. she’s fuckin’ perfect for him. so damn sweet and soft, just absolutely perfect for him. seeing her eat was even sweeter. god, he’s fallin’ fuckin’ fast for her. he needs her to be his already.

when they finish up dinner, rafe takes her on a walk. he never knew he could be a damn romantic, but for her? oh he would do anything. he held her hand, his thumb rubbing it softly.

“yur a pretty girl, doll. a shame nobody has had you yet.” he spoke with a rasp.

“my daddy says to stay away from boys, they nothin’ but trouble but.. i think he would like you.” she smiles softly at rafe.

“yeah? think ya old man would like me?” he smirks, liking that. he wants her parents to like him. he wants them to say that he’s perfect for her.

“yeah, my mama too.” she smiles wider, thinking about rafe meeting her parents, “but- but only if you wanna meet them!”

“oh sweetheart, i’d fuckin’ love to meet your parents but first.. i need you to be my girl.” he turns her around so she’s facing him, his hand lays on her hip and his other goes to cup her cheek so she can look up to him.

“so, will you be my girl?”

“i- oh! yes! yes!” she smiles sweetly.

he lets out a sigh of relief, “perfect. my girl..” he whispers softly.

“but im a big crybaby and super sensitive! i hate yelling and fighting.. i get scared of loud noises. i have bad anxiety and i can barely speak for myself.” she starts to ramble about her “flaws.”

“babe, i don’t care about that. i’ll fuckin’ take care of you. i’ll wipe your tears, reassure you, i’ll never yell at you or fight with you. i’ll even speak for you. im g’take care of you. y’hear me?” he kisses her forehead, needing to make her hear him. god he’s fallin’ so hard.

“mhm..” she nods and leans into him.

“good.. you’re my girl.. i’m your boy. now ima always take care of you.”

crybaby!reader was always very happy this particular day. she had her cute pink outfit on and a pink bow in her hair! her little makeup with mascara and some red lip liner and gloss was looking pretty, along with her slight pink blush. she walks down the driveway of her home, the nice american dream home that her parents have always wanted and dreamed of in live finally happened.

she walks by tannyhill, the bushes around the home making it so mysterious. her curiosity about the cameron family was always there but hided by fear, especially of the oldest cameron. the compunction of her curiosity was apparent. she wanted to know about rafe so badly! what made him so bad? what made him so.. irascible?

as she admired the home, she didn’t realize someone was staring at her. she bumped into something hard.. or rather someone. she rubs her face, looking up to see rafe.

“well hey there, doll.” his tone smooth and steady. his eyes wandered around her. his biceps were huge.. she couldn’t help but stare.

“eyes up here, doll.” he murmurs lowly.

she looks up, a little nervous and scared. her body going rigid. he noticed and furrowed his eyebrows slightly, “what’s that for, sweetheart? i ain’t g’hurt ya?”

she shifts on her feet slightly, “s-sorry.” her tone coming off smooth, soft, and timid. she looks into his eyes, noticing the blue, slowly admiring them. her big brown eyes widen.

“see something you like, doll?” his signature smirk coming to life. seeing her was fun to me, she’s always been a mystery to him.

“ahh.. atta girl..” he smirks, liking her involuntarily leaning into him.

“you gonna talk to me or not?”

“s-sorry! i’m sorry for bumping into you..” she mumbles softly, looking away from him again.

“mm.. ‘ts okay, doll. watch where you goin’ next time. some men ain’t as nice as i am.” he looks over her outfit, liking the bow in her hair.

“you’re cute, sweetheart.” he leans into her, whispering into her ear, “knew it’d be worth it to meet you.”

she blushes, freezing at his comment. “w-wait! you’ve been wanting to meet me? you? me? meet!?” she rambles a little, speaking too fast.

a light chuckle leaves his lips, “yeah, doll. been wanting to meet my next door neighbors’ daughter. you a cute lil’ thing.” he brushes her hair out of her face.

“thank you..” she mumbles softly.

“now.. what’s ya name, doll?” he looks at her and lifts her chin up with his index and thumb, needing her to look at him.

“y/n..” she looks at him, his touch is warm.. comforting even.

“nice to meet you, y/n.. think i’ll call you doll or sweetheart more though. we’ll be meeting more often, i think. you’d like that wouldn’t you?” he smirks, liking her blush. he lets go of her face, “well doll, i got business.. but it was nice seeing you. i’ll see you soon.”

and just like that, as fast as she met him, he left. she continued her walk, shocked at what happened..
