Does anyone else think that as the crossover fandom of DC x Miraculous (MLB) has expanded the name of the fandom should actually be Mirabat?

I understand that the fandom started as a Marinette ship (Daminette) and then expanded to other Marinette ships, however, as the fandom stands now, more characters are getting a focus in the crossover universe instead of Marinette.

Dedication to Adrien focused fics in DC x MLB has adopted the name Adribat and honestly has a different tone than Maribat tends to have.

Would it be weird to call the collective fandom Mirabat and allow there to be the subsections of Maribat and Adribat in it, seeing as Adribat feels as though it is going to pick up momentum?

I'd love to hear thoughts that those in the Maribat and Adribat spheres have on this. (P.S. I'm not saying rename the fandom cause it's been established for so long. Just curious of the what-if)

Usually, I would not reblog but I would like to say that those who do love crossovers, such as myself, should not be as rude as a couple in your comments have been. It is valid to like the parent fandoms/universes but not the crossovers.

I saw there were comments/replies to this og post and thought it would be members of the crossover fandoms asking about what fanon interpretations were being referred to or see the elements of the crossovers that were liked. I also thought perhaps that it would be those who are in the boat of not liking crossovers specifying why.

I am highly disappointed in people in the fandom community for being that way. It makes it harder all around.

For anyone that happens to read this reblog, it is valid to not like crossovers and you should speak out about it in a respectful way. You know why?

It helps the fandom writers improve.

I personally write and enjoy Maribat (mlb x dc). I saw this og post and thought that there would be others trying to see what can be tried as a fandom/community to help improve the content we put out to hopefully get others to enjoy it.

Specifically, Maribat has been in a state of existing as of late. We, or at least I, want to bring new people into the world of this crossover and it starts with what the enjoyers of the parent fandoms like as well as the parts they see that feel "forced" or "manipulated" to get it to work smoothly as a crossover.

Remember: Lovers and Dislikers of Crossovers Can Coexist

P.S. For anyone who would like to have a good civil conversation, I would love to hear out perspectives on the crossover and get feedback on it. I'll take any questions (ask box is completely open and anon is available)

love danny phantom, mlb, and dc, but somehow not the crossovers? idk why. you would think id find it the best of both/all worlds but i just cant get behind the oversaturation of the crossovers in fanfic, probably because so much of what makes the originals so interesting gets lost in translation. this holds true for so many elements in these three seperate things, but mostly its the fanonization of the batfam and particularly tim drake that turns me off. the way fanon sees tim has truly turned me off the character

Okay, I'm not sure how hot these takes are but here are a couple.

Marinette Does Not Need to be featured in Every Rare Pair Fic

Marinette does not need to be featured in every single fic when the ship does not include her. Where there is still heavy focus on Mari (in let's say a Jaydrien fic), the Jaydrien begins to feel like a side ship despite it being the main focus.

Maribat Rare Pairs should not be discouraged or treated like they are "not rare pairs" for including a traditional 'main pairing' as the side pairing

There are so many cool ships that complement Mari ships that deserve their own full light instead of being the 'side piece' in fics. It can be really disheartening as a writer to have a fic, especially one you're proud of, dragged down because you included a 'main ship' (Daminette, Timari, Jasonette) as the side pair. Rare pairs should be celebrated when they try to show what they can be instead of shunned into the darkness.

There should be more DC characters aged down for fics

With the rare pair ship Brucinette, for example, there tends to be a lot of aging the Miraculous characters up. Why not explore the ships by aging them down? The Gotham tv show gives an idea of younger Bruce Wayne and maybe it would be cool to see younger Clark figuring out his powers and Marinette comes across him while visiting her parents' old friends Jonathan and Martha Kent.

I really need more people to consider AdriBat and Wonder/AmazonMari.

Of the four main batboys (Dick, Jason, Tim and Damian) Marinette gets along the best with Jason and Tim, while Adrien gets along the best with Dick and Damian, no one really gets why or how.

If Selina hadn't called dibs first, Bruce would have claimed Adrien for the BatFam. Sorry Bruce, blondie's part of the Gotham City Sirens. Besides, isn't Marinette more up your alley? She fits the look.

Diana checks in on Marinette weekly. While she can't always be around to help train her, she's grown attached to the ladybug miraculous holder.

Marinette, turning on a lamp as Adrien sneaks into their shared hotel room via a window: Where were you?? Adrien, returning from another fun night with Catwoman, caught red-handed: I was with Damian!! Damian, turning on the other lamp: Try again.

↑ It's the first thing Marinette sees when she checks the Ladyblog for potential akumas in case she has to teleport herself and Adrien back to Paris via Pegabug when they're back in Gotham. Yeah, she is not happy (Marinette: YOU HAD ONE, O N E, JOB!! MY KITTY'S A THIEF!!).

Harley definitely sits Marinette down and talks with her about healthy relationships. It's something the younger girl had mentioned that Harley knew she could help out with. After all, her past relationship with the Joker wasn't exactly private. And while she didn't think Marinette would ever become who she was back then, Harley is willing to sit down with her and give her any advice she needs to ensure her future relationships are healthy.

There are arguments over some of the costumes. Mainly between Marinette and Damian. If Adrien's around (meaning he's not stealing shit again) he'll just join the rest of the Batboys and Batgirls, and just watch the two of them go at it like tennis match.

Jason takes both of them to a rage room. Jason: You said you couldn't feel negative emotions or some shit like that because of that butterfly fucker, right? Have at it. Enjoy breaking shit. Scream. Cry. Let it out. What's he gonna do? Show up? Good. I'll shoot him...right in the- Marinette: DON'T YOU DARE FINISH THAT!!

Adrien totally considers having the Bats take in Felix after he becomes Argos. For no other reason than: he's a bird. The Robins are birds. It makes sense.

If we go with the whole "class visits Gotham" thing, they're either already in Gotham when their class comes to visit, or had just returned to Paris only to go back to Gotham.

↑ No one is sure what's more surprising: Marinette knowing the Wayne's on a personal level, to the point she can argue with the youngest and not get in trouble or Adrien apparently having a room in Harley Quinn's and Poison Ivy's apartment.

They both want to scold Hawk Moth by smothering him in "I'm not mad, just disappointed" looks, but the moment he hurts someone near to them they will go rabid. They keep each other in check and are just wholesome. (I need someone to write them so I don't break them.) Oh do I! (It’s actually one of my favorite ships)

Make Adrien the guardian of the miraculous and let Bart bond with Adrien and the kwami. He would be so excited and care for them with all his strength.

Bart convinces Adrien to go on ‘walks’ with the kwami by pairing them up and the duo goes out on patrol with them. So many possibilities for kiss or hug moments with that.

Ooo another fun idea is having them team up to prank Timari (romantic or platonic) and somehow they always get away with it. Timari is convinced it’s either Jason or Damian.

Potentially giving Adrien his first fireworks experience by inviting him out for the 4th. They lay on a blanket on the grass and stare up at the sky. Adrien says a cheesy pun then they kiss as the last batch explode.

Those are some thoughts I have on it! Bart/Adrien is one of those ships that I plan to write more of in the future and will get some fluff. (I was too angsty the first time so I want to make up for it cause I feel bad)

P.S. I’m not familiar with what makes fluff ‘domestic fluff’ but I assumed it as super family friendly stuff. Just as an fyi

The way I like writing Adrien is blending his Chat Noir self with the canon parts of himself that he tries to show.

As for Maribat Adrien, give his man some love even if it is in the form of angst. He should be more of a 'main character' in fics.

Okay, mini rant aside. Here are some attempts at headcanons.

The Bio-Parent for Adrien should be Oliver Queen, Barry Allen, or a random af rogue that Emilie marries (or a mix of these)

The reason I see Oliver Queen is because he could keep that 'high class' type of thing with Oliver while dropping the crappy parent. This would also open up fun stuff like Adrien and Roy brotherhood or even romance so Roy truly becomes part of the family.

Barry Allen is because Adrien Allen. Okay for real though. Speedster Adrien just sits right in mind alongside Bat/Super Mari and Lantern Alya. He feels like a speedster. Also, think of the possible angst of Barry losing Iris and Adrien getting a positive experience of no longer having his mother.

As for the rogue thing, I just love the idea of Emilie sticking it to Gabriel and escaping. Adrien getting his quirkiness from Riddler or having a weird trait from Penguin would be so interesting to see.

Adrien makes more sense to be Adopted by Bruce than Marinette does

Okay, okay, put the pitchforks and torches down.

If you are taking the direction of Adrien's parents staying the same and Gabriel being revealed, no one can tell me that Adrien doesn't deserve to be adopted more than Marinette.

I understand that guardianship is super hard on Marinette but letting her parents stay alive instead of murdering them or turning them bad feels like it would give such a great connection moment. Let her grieve all of the time she has lost to fighting Hawkmoth by confiding into her parents. They're so accepting that I just wish they got more love (yes the Lila convincing them easily isn't good but the show makes her op at times with that).

Adrien might not fit the appearance quota of Black-hair, Blue-eyes but he fits that tragic tale. Why take Marinette and put her through everything to seem 'worthy of adoption' by Bruce when Adrien is living that life already? Usually, it is because writers feel more comfortable with Mari and the show does Adrien dirty.

The last bit on this one is I can see Adrien and Bruce having this awkwardness that they have to work through in order to connect. Adrien is thrilled to have someone who cares for him again, but needs to learn to work through the thoughts of 'am I just going to lose a parent again?' It just screams potential!

Adrien enjoys playing piano when he's not forced to

This one is relatively 'simple' compared to the others, but I feel like Adrien would use music as a way to express his feelings.

In the show, we see him play with Kitty Section and it feels like he enjoys it. That is something that Gabriel isn't forcing him to learn and he's enjoying it. Could that be from a general enjoyment of not having to do something purely because Gabriel says so? Yes.

Adrien continuing to play would be nice to see. Let him take one thing out of the experiences that Gabriel forces him into. The modeling being a thing he continues has always felt weird to me unless it is to help Marinette and she appreciates it. Otherwise, it just feels off to me.

That took so long to answer because I got stolen away halfway through but hopefully those scratch some itches! Adrien deserves more love in the fandom so I will always try to come up with ways to appreciate it.
