"Love is War" - The Law Student Astarion AU no one asked for

The Law School AU I wrote for the @astarion-fanzine is out on AO3 now! It's a spin-off of "Magistrate's Advocate", but can totally be read on its own. Hope you enjoy!

Excerpt:

Here’s the thing you need to know about Astarion Ancunín and Zoraya Naelgrath: They’re idiots. Smart idiots. Educated idiots—which just so happens to be the worst kind of idiot.

Don’t believe me? All right, let’s take a look.

“So,” Astarion said, stretching out his long legs under the table. “I hear you find yourself freshly single. Another boyfriend whose fragile ego couldn’t deal with a woman taller than himself?”

“He was not my boyfriend, and no, my height had nothing to do with it.” Zoraya’s tone was perfectly calm, her face hidden behind a large legal textbook. “I’m going to have to find someone else to come to the award ceremony with me, though.”

“I’m sure there are other options for you to explore,” Astarion said. “Other individuals who might be persuaded to accompany you.”

Which was not at all what he wanted to say.

What he wanted to say was, “I’ll be your plus one, darling. I’ll take you to your ceremony, and I’ll twirl and kiss you all night long until you’ve forgotten all about those miserable cowards.”

But he was, as previously mentioned, an idiot.
