I found this #mezuzah stuck behind a drawer of my desk, and I kinda wanna run to a #sofer right now, before #roshhashana 🍎🍯 ✡️ A mezuzah is a little case fixed to the door jamb that contains a piece of parchment with verses from the Torah. 🛐 It is believed that mezuzot protect households. People touch them and say a little prayer when they go through the door. 📜 Mezuzot are everywhere in Israel, as this is a commandment: “And thou shalt write [the verses] upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.” [Deuteronomy 9] ✍️ Soferim are Jewish scribes who can check the state of the parchment in the mezuzot, traditionally before the new Jewish year (Rosh Hashanah). Some people believe that health issues or misfortune can be caused by damaged mezuzot. 🍀 Not that I am facing adversity, but I don’t need it either. Just so you know, Earth has captured a #minimoon: 2020CD3.
