so, i dont think ive mentioned on tumblr, but ive been vaguely considering getting a new drawing tablet for a while now. and with all the work ive been putting into this current mass attack, its made me realize that i am definitely due for an upgrade. so of course, right after the biggest art period of the year for me, i just bought a new drawing tablet

...plus all the drawing displays on the xppen website were on sale. i wasnt even planning on buying anything, i just wanted to have a look at their range. i got this usually $900 tablet for $600

so update on this: ive got the sketches of 13 characters done and am currently working on the 14th. ive decided that i for sure wanna colour this, cuz i think itll look best coloured and itll help some of the designs read better. so, since the final sketches ive been doing have been clean anyway, ive changed them all to black and just wont be doing clean lineart. ive also decided that to actually post the attack to art fight, im gonna try and make a "preview" gif. since its a 10 frame loop and theres 20 characters, ill put one frame of every character and itll loop twice. hopefully that wont be too big LMAO

heyo, i got another headcanon for ya!

dick grayson is a smoocher. he loves giving his family and friends a lil peck on the cheek. a lil kiss on the forehead. if they're younger and/or shorter than him, he'll pop a smooch on the crown of their hair. it's a simple, easy way of communicating his love for them. he'll always go for a hug over a kiss if he's able, but giving his loved ones a smooch is nice and quick, and sometimes all he has time for. he's a busy guy!

there's plenty of paparazzi photos of dick holding his siblings faces in his hands and placing a big ol' smooch on their foreheads. these moments are accompanied by a loud, exaggerated "MWAH!" that his siblings usually find annoying or embarrassing. no, they're not smiling, those photos are doctored, you're seeing things, shut up. theres plenty of feel good articles about dick grayson's penchant for giving his siblings hugs and kisses. one of the most popular is a chronicle of dick giving bruce cheek kisses throughout the years. in the earliest photos, you can see bruce's surprise, but as it becomes well known that dick grayson loves giving out platonic smooches, you can see bruce's smile steadily get more gooey and loving as the years go by. it's incredibly cute.

with his shorter siblings, he likes the forehead kisses the most, or kissing their crowns. if you're sitting down in his vicinity, expect a crown-smooch. with bruce and jason, and anyone else taller than him, he'll place a hand on their shoulder and get on his tippy-toes to give them a peck on the cheek. the most common recipients have started habitually leaning down towards him to receive the kisses, because if they don't, dick will start climbing. but he does still try and give jason his forehead kisses, though. he may be taller than dick now, but that's still his little wing. one time, while in costume, nightwing grabbed the red hood's helmet, pulled him down, and gave a big, exaggerated kiss to the top of the red metal, complete with the loud "MWAH!" hood froze, while nightwing quickly darted off, laughing as he grappled away. after a few moments, hood shook himself off and took off running after the quickly retreating black and blue blur, shouting "GET BACK HERE, ASSHOLE!" luckily, the goons who were around to witness it didn't make the connection, simply thinking that nightwing wanted to mess with hood, and took inspiration from a photo that went viral earlier that day of that grayson dude doing the same thing to wayne's youngest.

in his family, he's pretty much conditioned them into being fellow huggers, or at least accepting physical affection from him, but the only ones who have picked up on the smooching habit have been cass and, surprisingly, damian. they're both a lot more conservative with their smooches, though. with cass, she only gives them to her family. she does it for pretty much the same reasoning as dick- it's a simple, easy, wordless way of conveying her love and affection for them. damian doles out the kisses only very rarely. if asked, he'd claim its simply a manipulation tactic, or something along those lines, but the whole family knows about the time that one of his verbal spars with tim went a little too far and tim was genuinely hurt, and that night, damian brought a cup of tim's favourite tea down to the cave where he was working on a case, wordlessly handed it to him, and gave him a very brief kiss on the cheek before quickly absconding.

outside of the family, dick has kissed pretty much all of his friends on the lips at least once, accidentally or not. in his robin days, there were plenty of times that he got excited over something, like a mission going perfectly according to plan, catching the bad guy quickly with no collateral damage, or something along those lines, and in his excitement, he'd grab the face of whoever was closest to him (both physically and friendship wise) and just. give 'em a big ol' kiss. he never cared where it landed. forehead, nose, eyelids, mouth, it doesn't matter. he's kissin' 'em. it happens far less as nightwing, but it still happens, usually to whichever of his favourite redheads is closest LMAO

holy shit okay so uh. ive been playing terraria again. doin pretty good on my current character, decided to go for a melee build this time. beat the mechanical bosses, all good, was prepping for plantera, setting up a life fruit farm, when i stumbled across a plantera bulb. and, well, i was right by my arena for it, so i thought "hey, might as well!"

tell me why i just beat plantera first try while not even fully prepared. this wasnt meant to be a serious attempt. i had more trouble with the fucking twins than plantera. i got her down to like 2/3 health and was like "oh neat im closer than i thought, i just need to finish farming these life fruits" and then she was at half health and entering the second phase and i was like "wait i might actually fucking beat her" and then i DID. what the FUCK

replacement battery arrived, has been installed, 3ds is now working again 😎

so ive been having trouble getting my 3ds to charge. id plug it in, the orange light would come on for a few seconds, and then go off again, and it wouldnt turn on at all. i was worried it was the charger, so i dug out my old dsi i test it, and it started charging just fine and stayed charging. so it wasnt the charger. ive now gotten out my screwdriver to open the back up and check the battery...and its starting to balloon 😬 ive just ordered a replacement lmao

its kinda annoying, the newest booster sets in pokemon tcg pocket have got me wanting to replay pkmn moon SO bad, but alas, i must wait

i didnt say smth last time this happened but im annoyed so heres a rant

so my gp used to do patient transport, which was great cuz i dont drive and their opening hours p much exactly line up w/ my mums work hours so she couldnt always drive me. its only a pretty short drive, like 10 minutes away. 20 max if you take a long route. too easy

but theyve stopped doing that. idek the reason why. and i didnt find out about this until i had to make an appointment, and a couple days before i realised i forgot to request transport. so i gave them a call and got told "oh we dont do that anymore." so now a 10-20 minute trip has turned into an hour long one. because theres no direct bus like between here and there. so i can either try for a connecting bus and pray the timing works out, or take the single bus and walk for over 20 minutes to get there. and my only other option is the train, which, while technically faster than the bus, drops me off barely closer than the bus stop. like 2 streets closer. so id still need to make the walk. also i believe its just a little more expensive, and tbh the train doesnt feel worth it because its literally the next stop on the line. id get on and then immediately get back off. like this office is only 2 suburbs away and its on like the EDGE of the second suburb

so now i have an appointment tomorrow and i gotta go through this whole song and dance again. its so incredibly annoying. and im going in for just a general health checkup so it probably wont even take more than an hour. itll take me longer to get there and home than the entire duration of the appointment. i mean i dont mind taking the bus around, and i do like walking places, but this place is so close, and yet theres no direct way for me to get there on my own, so the whole trip is so long

and like im pretty sure my actual doctor that i see doesnt work weekends so i cant even just make a weekend appointment and ask mum to drive me. its just a whole thing now and its so annoying

i got the batman family: year one box set, which is robin: year one, batgirl: year one and nightwing: year one, plus nightwing: leaping into the light. i was tempted to get more volumes of nightwing but tbh even buying these ones was done on impulse, my comics to-read list is now 5 books long lmao. yes i bought dark victory all the way back in january. no i have not read it yet. listen i am the fucking king of starting something and getting sucked into something else before finishing it. i saw One (1) video on tiktok talking abt comparisons between the jurassic park movie and book and thought "oh, ive never actually read the book but i love the movie, i wanna read the book!" so i went out and bought the book and powered through like 3/4 of it in like two weeks, and its been sitting unfinished on top of my steadily growing pile of books and comics for probably 3 months now. these things WILL get read. just as soon as i can pull myself away from dwarf fortress for long enough

thats actually another thing lol. p much the only other reason i didnt go full in w/ buying this whole run of nightwing: i do not own a bookshelf. at least, not a personal in my room. and the bookshelves out in the loungeroom are all pretty much full already. im not gonna go through all the trouble of rearranging all that shit when i can just get a small shelf or smth to put in my room and be dedicated to just my comics

i ordered a couple of comics and it said they were due for delivery today. it has been raining heavily and basically nonstop for pretty much the entire week. i have an email saying theyve been delivered. said email sid they were delivered an hour ago. it is, and has been for said hour, still raining incredibly heavily. i swear to fucking god if these comics have been left outside in this fucking weather and theyre water damaged im gonna lose my shit. if they are in fact outside r/n that packaging better be WATERPROOF. im going to check right now

i have once again started playing dwarf fortress. ive never been able to get far into it before, for various reasons that mostly boil down to either some mechanics not really clicking for me or just losing interest/focusing on a different game, but THIS time, its fully gotten me sucked in. ive been spending more time looking up tutorials and stuff to more thoroughly understand how to do things, and ive spent more time playing in the last week than i did in the however many years since i bought the game in the first place. now that im actually understanding how things work and have a clearer idea of how to settle in and establish a stable fortress i am OBSESSED

man i love it when this happens. see this is why i keep giving games chances, coming back to them and trying to play and understand and have fun. the same thing happened with stardew, and terraria, and honestly even splatoon. it did take me a little while to fully get into splatoon, and its a game that means everything to me

posted some art on my art blog yesterday and someone left a reply that was just really short and just felt kind of rude. i was gonna go in a respond to them, give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they didnt mean to come across that way but then i saw they had "professional hater" in their bio and they spoke like that in literally every comment they added to other ppls posts, talkin like they were top authority on this one particular character and just generally being hateful. people like that are just not worth the time or effort. and if you are a person like that, i mean this in the kindest way possible: this way of engaging in fandom is miserable. it will make you miserable. stop engaging with others in such a hateful manner. enjoy the things you enjoy and give no thought to anyone else. if you see something you dont like or disagree with, just block and move on. resport them if theyre being genuinely hurtful or bigoted, but otherwise just ignore them. you will be so much happier for it, i promise you
