Jackenstein plush with glowing eyes & removable head

When deltarune chapters 3 and 4 came out I was prepared and hyped to make some plushies of the many new faces to be introduced in the chapters. Initially I was gonna make a roaring knight plush but it was too hard to discern what was going on in its sprites so I shelved it. Then I discovered jackenstein and I immediately fell in love with his design and character.

The Jockington Beard Hypothesis

DELTARUNE SPOILERS! LOTS OF THEM! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

This may sound stupid because I am stupid. Beware.

Now, let’s get into the theory.

Others have pointed it out, but Susie may very well NOT be the girl of the prophecy. This is vaguely hinted at by the fact that Noelle can equip ribbons, Susie will not, and Ralsei says that the girl from the prophecy is meant to equip ribbons.

The prophecy also describes the cage, which could be Kris considering their whole relationship with us as the player. However, Kris being the intended cage of the prophecy may not be the case.

In Chapter 1, when making the vessel, the narration had a distinct voice to it aiding in our intended body’s making. But there is a shift in the narration style, from all capital letters being used, to a normal capitalization style, before discarding our vessel.

I think that there’s a conflict between two forces that we are caught in the middle of. The thing that helped create the vessel, and the thing that stopped it.

Things have a set path, but that path is being messed up by the opposing force. The force that helped create the vessel also has something big to do with the prophecy.

So, Deltarune could go one of two ways; the prophecy is altered but still true and the fun gang has to fight against it, or the path was never set in stone and they can make a new one, defying the false destiny.

But how can we gauge which it is before it’s all revealed?

Jockington’s Beard.

It would be strange, downright absurd even, for a snake to grow a beard! Only mammals have hair. And before anyone says “oh but undyne is a fish and has hair”, she’s had it from the get go, and there are plenty of hairless non-mammal monsters in deltarune. Jockington seems to be without hair, so it’s highly unlikely to just spring up out of no where. This could point to the prophecy being messed up in the first place.

If Jockington grows a beard, it means that the fun gang will have to fight against an absurd, but seemingly inevitable fate.

If Jockington does not grow a beard, it means that there’s a way to defeat the prophecy and the foes they face, without having to do whatever the prophecy said to make Susie shatter it.

And that is the Jockington Beard hypothesis.
