Photo

Long before the introduction of color film, a Russian chemist and photographer named Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky used an innovative technique. He took three individual black and white photos, each through a colored filter (red, green, and blue), to create fully colored, high-quality pictures. The photo of this woman, taken by him, is around 107 years old!

I feel I have fallen into the world of writing fanfiction and I cannot escape.
Does anyone know how to not be so caught up on “omg no one else wants to read this specific story”?

Because you're one of my favorite fic writers on this beautiful blue hellsite (affectionate). 💜🫂
You have brought real, honest-to-goodness tears to my eyes. I will wear my typewriter badge with pride. Thank you so much, friend! 💕💖
One day I will get back into the saddle. Once we're in the new place and things are more settled.
Thank you!

Mashup time
So I mentioned a few days ago that I was in the process of moving. We secured a place but can't move in till next weekend. Very hurry up and wait of us, lol.
While we're slowly packing and prepping I'm trying to distract my brain of all the stress and I don't have the energy or focus to work on my bevy of WIPs so I'm doing pokemon+starfield mashup art. A 'what if pokemon were in Starfield' sort of thing. I will not be writing stories with this, just these pictures to work my brain. It's all in the pokemon style (or as close as I can manage), which is not something I'm confident with.
First up we've got the twins, Fox and Doc. Both as kids and as adults with their starters.
Fox got the whole 'pick your starter' experience and chose a Fennekin he named Rufus. Fox and Rufus are a dangerous combination out in the starfield as both of them are impulsive, though with Rufus's powerful fire and psychic 'spells', they do just fine.
Doc did not get the 'pick your starter' experience. Their parents realistically couldn't afford Fox's but did it because they wanted him to grow up to be a famous trainer. Doc was told if she wanted her own pokemon so damn bad she could go find one herself and ended up finding her tiny, injured Oddish she named Fergus. Once Doc was in a good place financially she bought both a leaf and sun stone for Fergus and let him pick his final evolution. As you can see, he wanted to be a big, poisonous Vileplume and is spoiled rotten by his trainer.
This is Doc's team in her cozy study plus the Phermosa known to work with the Mantis! Aurorus is technically in the other room and being very nosy about what's going on. The Phermosa is reaching for the Rattata's everstone while he sits far away clinging to it. The Polteageist is waving her off while Mimikyu and Pawmot sleep. Fergus is also sleeping on the floor, too tired to climb up on the couch.
Delgado has a close knit, loyal team. His Ninetails, Luz, is a family tradition. When a kid was born the family got a Vulpix egg for the child and they pair were raised together, creating a tight bond between trainer and pokemon. Evita, his Umbreon, is another old pokemon. Most rich kids in Akila City were given Eevees and while it disappointed his parents, it was no surprise she evolved as she did.
Reyes, the Raticate, was found during an Alolan vacation when Del was a teen. The at-the-time injured rattata was curled up near the beach when Luz found him and Del took the poor thing to the pokecenter for care. His father mocked him for caring for a pathetic creature and as a result Delgado offered the tiny thing a Luxury ball and a better life. Reyes now truly lives like a king.
His Persian and Sableye are both shy but will protect him with their life and that Impadimp on his arm is a peculiar case because he refuses to evolve. Apparently he likes being tiny. He won't force it, he knows what it's like to be the square peg getting hammered into the round hole...but he's still confused as to why at level 78 the damn thing doesn't even want to grow into a Morgrem.
Finally we have Sam and Cora Coe.
Every member of the Coes get a Fletchling when their a kid. Similar to Delgado's family, an egg is secured for the baby and as the kid grows up the egg is hatched and the pair are raised together. Why Fletchling? Talonflame is the Freestar symbol! Ol' Solomon Coe explored with his loyal Talonflame, Akila, at his side.
Jacob really wanted Sam to evolve his Eevee into a Flareon. It was just what Coes do. As you can see, Sam did not listen. He already had Blaze and he was strong, why would he need another flame type?
Mabosstiff was one of a few poke-partners to choose from when Sam was deputized as a Ranger. Maurice is a dark type tank and honestly just as much Cora's pokemon at this point was Sam's.
The Boldore is a grumpy rock but it's Sam's rock. It likes to play with his Lycanroc (not pictured) and tries to bully Blaze. Also not seen is Sam's massive Avalugg...because he would honestly be the whole picture. Yes, Sam has a living iceberg...he likes the cold after all.
Cora didn't want an Eevee so Sam never got her one. Jacob was huffy about breaking traditions but Sam didn't care. She loves love loves steel and electric type pokemon. Along with Rose, her Fletchling, she currently has her Rotom, an Aron named Aggie (in the ball), and a tinkatink who has yet to agree to a name with Cora.
And this is what I've been up to and will likely continue to do until I run out of characters or get too busy to focus on it.

DEFTONES IS COMING OUT WITH A NEW ALBUM AUG 22
now that, that's out of my system:
I am currently working on four WIPS.
Citrus and Melancholy chp 8 - singlemom!MC LADS
Empire of Desire chp 7 - NonMC LADS
The Fallen Knight chp 3 - Abigor x player Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon
Reader LADS oneshot - Reader x 2 of the LADS
I have about a month of summer left, and 8 books assigned for my fall classes. I cannot promise I will be able to continue any of my ongoing stories during my semester. I promise to try at least but this will be the first semester I am going full time. I'll be juggling being a parent, surviving, going full time, and shadowing for my new internship.
I am grateful for those of you who have kept up with or picked up on any of my stories over the summer. I know last school year I had taken a long break from writing, and I appreciate that there were readers out there that still wanted to check my stories out. (especially since I haven't finished a fic since my Starfield one)
Anyway! This is my WIP WED/WHENEVER under the cut!
Tagging moots with no pressure: @staticpallour @lisa-and-shadow @bearlytolerant @applecaviar @mercars-musings @hyperions-light @roguishcat @eridanidreams @interplanet--janet @crowfish-brainrot @cryptidplays
I'll give you two snippets -
The Fallen Knight: Abigor’s feet dragged him into the forest. It wasn’t often he needed to come out here in search of a meal but ever since the Keep had gone on a severe lockdown he had been barred from entering to purchase goods. The sun held high in the middle of the sky and its rays bore down on his red heavy armor. He could feel the sweat bead at his hair line, and he was tempted to remove his helm.
A snap to his left caught his attention and his hand laid on the hilt of his sword. Chasing deer to slaughter them was not ideal but he was not the best at archery and his stomach was ready to eat itself. He looked over, crouching behind a bush to hear clacking like a wooden windchime. Instead, he saw that it was another undead hissing at its opponent. It was rushing towards its masked opponent with untamed aggression.
A grunt from the human as the shield of the undead knocked into their chin. The black bandana hid the bottom half of their face, but he felt like the fierce eyes that drove two daggers into the undead’s ribs were familiar.
Citrus and Melancholy:
Chapter 8: Jealousy is Lethal
*5 years ago, tomorrow*
The house was crowded and the music was loud enough to muffle conversations. Sophia found herself hugging a plastic cup full of sour alcohol while she stood on the edge of the living room. As soon as Caleb and her arrived she convinced him to spilt with her so his presence wouldn’t be an issue for the night. Her friends knew they were just friends who grew up together but she was aware that sometimes their comfortable behavior with one another would raise her friends’ eyebrows.
“Soph!” The cheerful greeting was met with a sudden weight on her back.

not-WIP Wednesday yet somehow still WIP Wednesday
I don't have any words. Haven't in over a month I think now. It's been a time, y'all. Some already know because I've been talking about it in discord but I've been dealing with apartment woes.
No, woes isn't the right word. It has been hell. pest issues, management issues, stress, stress, and more stress. But we had a stroke of good luck and were able to give 30 days and will be let out of the remainder of the lease after those 30 days....to give you an idea of just how bad it was.
So I haven't been writing. Creating in general has been a struggle but I'm trying. And thinking about the Mantis Chronicles. And so I thought I'd give an update and share some art I've done over this rough period...
Mantis in a nightvision CCTV
some micro scenes of things coming up whenever I can actually write words again
fun times with Cora and Manny

A good rule of thumb whenever a non-fiction author has "Dr." or "Phd" next to their name on the cover is to check if:
Their doctorate is real and from an accredited institution
Their doctorate is relevant to the subject matter of the book

So, the other day, when I was discussing AO3's policy on solicitation, a tumblr user came at me saying that AO3's "no monetization/solicitation" rules were "bullshit" because nexus mods allows fan created mods to get paid.
Look at me.
Look at me right now.
