As they approached the long flightway that led to Brookscale Farm, Junior remembered his promise of a hunt to Floyd and turned them slightly northward, aiming for the foothills near the overlook. Floyd perked up as they approached the edge of the tree line, a happy rumble deep in his throat as he scanned the area for long-tailed grazers. Unlike their last hunt, there were no grazers out in the open, but Junior felt Floyd tense beneath him and knew the dragon had caught the scent of prey.

Stone looked at Ivo with those big, sad, pathetic eyes of his in a way that made Ivo want to, uh, make Stone stop doing that and gave a sigh large enough to fill the sails of a moderately sized boat. "I failed you," Stone said, eyes wandering over Ivo's face as he spoke. "I should have been there on the Eclipse Cannon with you, been there to protect you."

One of the things about writing that feels the silliest is when there’s a detail in the scene that the character doesn’t think is important but you know the reader will know it’s important because otherwise it wouldn’t be there, so you’re just sort of making eye contact with the reader over the character’s head and whispering “don’t tell them”

Me: Exercise does not cause weight loss. This is a fact that has been demonstrated so robustly in research that even doctors, who hate and fear evidence, are grudgingly starting to admit this.

Someone reading that post: Cool, but have you considered that exercise leads to weight loss?

The best advice i can give any creator is do it before you're good at it, do it BEFORE you're happy, do it while you suck, do it while you're doubting yourself and get stuck the fuck in, because waiting around to be "good enough" is a motherfucking trap of the highest degree. You'll get good along the way and better after ever project is complete. Remember, this is the greatest thing you've ever created, and then you'll do something else. You're only ever gonna get better, but not if you stand still.
