Here Are My Other Accounts:
Since there’s been a lot of stuff happening on Tumblr recently, that is worrisome, and even though I haven’t been affected by this (as far as I know, anyway) I’m still going to link to my other accounts just in case.
A fresh new Twitter: twitter.com/augustwstubbes
A Facebook: facebook.com/augustwstubbes
And Wordpress, where everything is archived, except art: augustwstubbes.wordpress.com
I’m still going to use Tumblr, but might as well link everything.
Also, I’ll compile all of my art into my Twitter at a later date.

Just in case there was any confusion. Have a good one :)

Movie Review Time: Dofus - Livre I: Julith
Tumblr media
Dofus - Livre I: Julith occurs a few years after the end of the show that came before it. This movie, which is astoundingly good, was made by the French game and animation company Ankama.
Story: 10
I loved it. It was a fantastic story. Although, it probably wouldn’t make that much sense without some context. You can get this context through Dofus: Aux trésors de Kerubim.
Art: 10
Stunning. The animation quality is top bar. Beautifully done. I found myself marvelling very often throughout the movie. The animations were beautifully smooth and expressive. This movie is the reason that my previous review only has 9 out of 10 for the art.
Sound: 10
Very well done. I recommend watching this in French. Actually, I’m not even sure if this has been dubbed into English yet. Hmm. Nonetheless, watch it in French.
Character: 10
Their characterisations were delightfully done from the absurd to the compelling. The writers did exceptionally!
Enjoyment: 10
I loved this movie. I’m considering even rewatching it at some point again.

Cartoon Review Time: Dofus: Aux trésors de Kerubim
Tumblr media
“Dofus: Aux trésors de Kerubim,” also known as “Dofus: The Treasures of Kerubim” (or “Kerub’s Bazaar” if you watch the localized English dub) is a delightfully quirky French cartoon made with flash animation by Ankama, the company behind the MMOs Dofus and Wakfu (which is also a cartoon).
Story: 10
It’s more of a collection of many different slice of life stories revolving around Kerubim’s life as an adventurer. Before he settled down and became a merchant of magical items. The stories are quite fun and usually zany.
Art: 9
Beautifully done. Just brilliant! The only reason it’s not a ten will be revealed in my next review.
Sound: 10
Very fun and well done. I attempted watching this in English first, as that’s how I found it, but the voice acting was appalling to me. I couldn’t continue. I later tried it again in the original French and it was leagues better. I highly recommend the French form.
Character: 10
Quirky, fun, and delightful characterisations all around.
Enjoyment: 10
It was a lot more fun than I expected it to be. It hurts a bit that I finished MMO inspired, flash animated, French cartoon because I’m craving more of these ridiculous adventures.

Anime Review Time: Silver Spoon
Tumblr media
Silver Spoon is one of the best animes I've watched all around, with great writing, characters, and moments (which makes sense, considering it was based off of the manga by Hiromu Arakawa, that's right, the brilliant woman behind Fullmetal Alchemist)
Story: 10
It's a slice of life anime with a lot of great moments, funny, sad, heartfelt. It was written extremely well (and, as a note, after the second season there is more content in the manga, so if you can't get enough of the story, don't worry, she's still writing more of it)
Art: 10
Very well done, with a lot of great visual gags and pleasant looking animation.
Sound: 10
The openings and endings (for both seasons) are splendidly done, fitting the tone of the show quite well. The voice acting (sub) fits each of the characters very very well.
Character: 10
They're well-written, with their own problems, desires, and personalities, making each of them feel like real people, adding to the narrative and situations that occur in the anime.
Enjoyment: 10
I would highly recommend watching this show. It's well-written, with good characters, and animation. It became one of my absolute favorites, effortlessly.

Anime Review Time: Violet Evergarden
Tumblr media
Violet Evergarden is one of the best animes I've watched in quite a while.
Story: 10
The writing was compelling and definitely made me tear up a few times (which is rare for me, when it comes to, well, a lot of things, really), and I usually take this as the story being very well-done. As it was.
Art: 10
I often found myself marveling at the intricate animations of their movements, especially Violet's hands. There was something about the light clinking in time with the bend of a metal joint. Each scene was beautiful, in one way or another, and it was just amazing.
Sound: 10
The music and background sounds were done wonderfully, coupling with the animation in a great way. The voice acting (dub) was actually quite good, except for a few certain characters.
Character: 10
I loved the characters, many of them were quite interesting in some way or another and I just enjoyed how the interactions between them and Violet took place.
Enjoyment: 10
I loved this anime immensely, everything from the animation and characters, to the story and the world that everything was set in. I especially liked that there was even a different alphabet that wasn't nonsense and stayed consistent with itself, it looked great, as well. I would highly recommend watching this. As a note, there's a movie coming out in the next few years, so I'm looking forward to that.

Anime Review Time: FLCL
Tumblr media
FLCL is an interesting anime about a kid living a "normal" life.
Story: 7
It's odd, very odd. It's kind of everywhere, but there is definitely a narrative there, and I'm fairly certain I understood what they were going for.
Art: 10
Imaginative and insane, the art is very well-done and very aesthetically pleasing.
Sound: 10
The music is amazing. "Ride on Shooting Star" by The Pillows is one of the best anime songs that I've ever heard and I sometimes just re-listen to it to experience that punky song. I tried both the dub and the sub, as I usually like watching dubbed stuff because, why not, and I found that the sub was much better. The dub wasn't done as well as it could've been and there was something grating about it, at least for me.
Character: 7
Everyone, it seems, has some sort of insanity about them, but they're still enjoyable characters, nonetheless.
Enjoyment: 9
I highly recommend this anime, it's a must-see, even if you hate it or love it.

Movie Review Time: Valerian and the City of 1000 Planets
Tumblr media
This is an underrated sci-fi movie set very distantly in the future, by Luc Besson, with the hijinks-filled adventure of Major Valerian and Sergeant Laureline as the center of it all. I personally loved it.
Story: 8
The story isn’t perhaps as polished as it could’ve been, with a few writing hiccups here and there, but overall, it’s not bad.
Visuals: 10
Beautiful, wonderfully done visuals for the backgrounds, environments, and costume designs. Definitely a pleasant looking movie. I especially liked Alpha’s many zones and the idea they had for Big Market.
Sound: 10
I thought it was great, the background sounds and the alien languages were great, but I did think that one of the characters seemed to be a little louder, recording-wise, than she should’ve been and I’m not sure if that was just me.
Character: 7
They’re a little, well, cheesy. With some odd characterisations sprinkled in, of course. It wasn’t bad, of course, but I do think that it left a little to be desired. Also, I feel that Bubble was an extraneous character.
Enjoyment: 10
I really enjoyed it. I’m all for the, what I’m calling, high sci-fi genre, but that’s probably why it has average ratings, due to the niche this movie was for. But I definitely recommend it.

Anime Review Time: Cowboy Bebop
Tumblr media
A true classic. Cowboy Bebop is a sort of slice-of-life anime about retro futuristic bounty hunters in the 2070's attempting to keep food on the table and nab their next head. Warning, very biased review.
Story: 10
Fantastic, as I said, it's mostly slice of life, but don't let that dismay you (unless you love that sort of thing, like I do), for each episode has a fun to watch adventure (or non-adventure, I suppose) that really is delightful.
Art: 10
I find the griminess of its 1990's animation somewhat endearing and very pleasant to look at, even if it might not be as clean as the modern art style.
Sound: 10
Tank! is an iconic opening, if I've ever heard one. And Real Folk Blues is a great ending, as well. The voice acting (dub) is one of the best that I've heard, each voice fits the characters very very well.
Character: 10
Their characterizations are very well-done, quirky, and overall incredibly enjoyable to watch them interact with whatever the situation is.
Enjoyment: 10
I watched the first two episodes and let it sit for about six months before picking it back up again, promptly devouring the rest of the series post-haste. I loved it to bits and miss the characters already.
