Gimmick blog: @creatures-in-posts
Gimmick: Finding, and often drawing, creatures in posts. ie. finding animals and things that resemble the "TBH Creature" and redrawing them in the style of it.
Gimmick rating: 10/10, the occasional creature drawing is what really brings it up to a 10 in my eyes. Without it I think the gimmick would lack effort, but with it it's perfect. The gimmick is simple, is funny/cute, and has mass appeal. Off of tumblr it might not, but I feel like the "tbh creature" and its associated memes are fairly well known here. If I could change anything, I'd like more creature images. They're very cute and I appreciate them. However, it would be rude to rate down for that, and it would also be very clearly biased.
Blog rating: 8/10, very good but does occasionally post things other than the gimmick. Posts such as this one bother me because there's no real creature to be identified or seen and thus fall outside of the blog's gimmick. But they undeniable add something to the blog. Were this not a requested review I might let it slide, but as a rule I go a little tougher when it's requested. Additionally, instead of identifying a creature and/or drawing it, the blog will run a poll to determine the creature status of the animal. This also seperates from the theme similarly, and I have similar feelings about it.
Overall rating: 9/10, a very high score, congradulations. I think this blog is fantastic and does what it does well. Creatures in Posts is near perfect, and should be proud. My only wish is that the gimmick is clearer, or more focused. Specifying in the bio that the blog runs polls, or not running polls anymore. However, I recognize that I am being very nitpicky. Please accept this picture of my icon as a creature as an apology.

Kpop Demon Hunters is everything I ever wanted in a movie. Quite literally everything I love: kpop, animation, an underlying Catholic moral theme about the nature of sin, shame, and how only love can overcome hate, did I mention it’s a musical?
#kpop demon hunters#best movie of the year?#MY movie of the year#kpop#yes I can make most movies relate to themes of Catholicism❤️#because God is love and if you want to divine the true essence of humanity it rests in His truth#and love is a common theme in most media#either way this movie is a major win#9/10#no notes#okay 1 note but it’s minor hence the 9/10#almost perfect#and nothing can be perfect so it’s practically perfect in every way

So I wanted to post a gay comic for pride month but when I looked up “gay boomer comic”(and I cannot emphasize enough)the only results were either homophobic or furries(idk what this was about but there was so much furries). Luckily Gary Larson came through. My friend in trying times
I gotta give this one 9/10 I think, I love Gary Larson obviously, it’s a solid pun, and I love the cow lesbian bar, that’s iconic(I always get a kick out of the cows)but it’s not the best Far Side out there. The best one is Cow Tools obviously
#boomer cartoons#boomer comic#9/10#I do adore this something vaguely back to the barnyard about it I can’t quite explain#I feel like that show would’ve done this joke I guess#remember how the main cow was accidentally trans rep#one of the funniest things ever to me#I love Gary Larson and generally think his stuff is like 15/10#I still remember before I could read ‘reading’ the far side and just loudly saying my own made up captions#I didn’t know what sex was obviously but I knew the word and I remember I just kept trying to make the captions sex jokes#my dad and older sibling were present for this and I got the sense I was saying something wrong because they were just looking at me like 😐#I remember one of my captions on a picture of two cows looking at each other: ‘we should have sex’#’why?’#’because we’re stupid cows!’#I was a comedic talent from a young age#gary larson

Brimstone and Roses by Speremint
Photo from Episode 1
Webtoon
Bea is over her ex. Absolutely, completely, over her... except that she's not. When Bea finds out that her ex is also attending her sister's wedding, Bea does what any logical person would do and summons an incredibly hot, sarcastic demon to be her date. But demons are tricky, and now hers won't leave her alone.
poc mc, f mc, m/f
drama, romance, fantasy
supernatural, modern fantasy, queer
demons, death/afterlife, concepts
Completed, 146 chapters
Rating: 9/10
I’ve been reading B&R for a year or two and it’s just fantastic. I gave it the “concepts” tag because the whole premise of summoning a demon to avoid dealing with your ex is just *chef’s kiss* and it’s so well-executed, just such a fun story. It might be because I haven’t read it all the way through in a while, but the ending felt a little rushed, which is too bad, because I absolutely adore Bea and Laz’s relationship growth (but maybe I’m just in denial about the story being over). They have such satisfying chemistry together and it is soooo fun to see how their relationship and trust in each other develops over time. I also love it when the dynamic is the most flawless woman you’ve ever seen and her loserboy partner. I just think it’s cute. (Also sidenote shoutout to one of the only!!! comics on my entire list with a fat main character?? And she’s incredible?? I would like more of this, please)
The only points this one missed for me were 3) the backgrounds are drawn by an artist (no hate, no shade, I get it, but it does detract from the appeal a bit, personally) and 19-20. I ended up going half and half for “made me think a lot” and “made me feel a lot,” because, as I say, it’s been a minute since I’ve read it all start-to-finish, but it had point 18) excitement, because I was always soo excited when it updated, so I know that at least counts for a bit of point 20. Also this is the first one in a while with point 16: extra gorgeous tasty art. It’s freaking scrumptious. Decadent. Five-course meal. Highly recommend.

love what youre doing here, this is an inspired axis upon which to critique art
i Must know your thoughts on francis' bacon's 1953 "study after velázquez's portrait of pope innocent x." ive always found it a fascinating piece, and im pretty sure it draws a lot of inspiration from goya's black-painting-era work.

So, for a quick reference, this is the painting this is a study of:
Bacon had a period where he liked to do studies like this of classic works.
This one depicts Pope Innocent X as a rotting figure in a a chair that almost seems to glow. Is this rotting figure screaming or has it simply rotted so much that it's mouth has fallen open?
To me this painting very much feels like an inversion of the original. The delicate lace and warm colors present in the first are replaced with the loosely painted details and cool colors of the second. Instead of being a painting of a calm man who speaks for God, it is the painting of a corpse assailed by holy light, seemingly in agony from it.
Personally, I like to read some divine agony into the painting. There is something divine occurring to Innocent, or maybe even around him with no regard for him, and it is agonizing, if it has not killed him already.
I think the hatred the Christian God can impose on his creations is something I find kind of erotic. There's this immense power from above that you can never understand, only hope that it loves you as you're told it does. It does not speak to you, it is detached and cold. And yet you know it's wrath is absolute, that it could kill you all in a moment. There's something, in my outsider view, that enjoys that in a way. Total helplessness and complete power, with no chance to break out of the system.
Generally, I also think my view of the Christian God skews very Eldritch, which is sexy, so...
Also, I'll be up front, holy vestments get me going.
Rot is also really sexy. The degradation of the familiar as it returns to what it came from to feed the earth around it, that's hot.
Overall, for me, this one is a 9/10. Another pretty solid one from Francis Bacon! Also, feel free to share your interpretations in the replies, I do love to hear people's thoughts, even just on the painting itself, devoid of eroticism.

Bronco - Orville Peck
if it isn't clear already, yes im a sappy little fruitcake, sorry, theres no cure. i love this gay cowboy with all of my heart sweet lord
2022 i just started a new job cutting parts for a weld shop, the same week this album came out and let me just say, i was serving. my peak cunt era
"Kalahari Down" is one of my favorite songs of all time, the second chorus is honey in my ears but in a much less gross way. and then there's "Let Me Drown" which builds into just the most heartbreaking way and i can't get enough
to me , it's a somber look on the past you left behind, and a promise to forgive yourself and move on. the whole album has been pivotal to me in getting through rougher times, and i cherish this one greatly. 9/10

Maurice (1987). Two English school chums find themselves falling in love at Cambridge. To regain his place in society, Clive gives up Maurice and marries. While staying with Clive and his wife, Maurice discovers romance in the arms of the gamekeeper Alec.
Can anyone direct sensuality like James Ivory? God, this is so, so good, just breathless with its own sprawling passion and it's alternating need to repress and experience and sometimes, eventually, to share too. Ivory's firing on all cylinders here, both as a director and a writer, and he brings out the best in a pretty stellar cast. This might just be my favourite Hugh Grant role? Just - - yes! Cinema! 9/10.

Quiet Time 9/10
What am I feeling today?
Pretty tired😅 I start nursing clinical again this morning and I didn’t get to sleep as early as I wanted to last night. But! That’s because my family wanted to celebrate my birthday🥹 they bought a tiny cake and made my favorite food and sang happy birthday to me. I felt a little bad bc I was practically gone all day with school and errands and only got to spend an hour with them and today I’ll be gone for a while too ☹️ but I love and appreciate them and honestly kinda felt a bit overwhelmed from all the birthday love yesterday😅
JOB 31 NIV
Job 31:2-4 NIV
“For what is our lot from God above, our heritage from the Almighty on high? Is it not ruin for the wicked, disaster for those who do wrong? Does he not see my ways and count my every step?”
Basically what Job is saying here is that God sees everything that we do and we cannot hide anything from Him. Therefore if we act in wicked ways (any way that goes against His desire for us) then the lot as a result is ruin and disaster.
Keep in mind this is Old Testament, but it still applies to us if we do not repent.
Practical: confess to sin to other people in your life to hold you accountable and repent of it!
Job 31:5-40 NIV
““If I have walked with falsehood or my foot has hurried after deceit— let God weigh me in honest scales and he will know that I am blameless— if my steps have turned from the path, if my heart has been led by my eyes, or if my hands have been defiled, then may others eat what I have sown, and may my crops be uprooted. “If my heart has been enticed by a woman, or if I have lurked at my neighbor’s door, then may my wife grind another man’s grain, and may other men sleep with her. For that would have been wicked, a sin to be judged. It is a fire that burns to Destruction; it would have uprooted my harvest. “If I have denied justice to any of my servants, whether male or female, when they had a grievance against me, what will I do when God confronts me? What will I answer when called to account? Did not he who made me in the womb make them? Did not the same one form us both within our mothers? “If I have denied the desires of the poor or let the eyes of the widow grow weary, if I have kept my bread to myself, not sharing it with the fatherless— but from my youth I reared them as a father would, and from my birth I guided the widow— if I have seen anyone perishing for lack of clothing, or the needy without garments, and their hearts did not bless me for warming them with the fleece from my sheep, if I have raised my hand against the fatherless, knowing that I had influence in court, then let my arm fall from the shoulder, let it be broken off at the joint. For I dreaded destruction from God, and for fear of his splendor I could not do such things. “If I have put my trust in gold or said to pure gold, ‘You are my security,’ if I have rejoiced over my great wealth, the fortune my hands had gained, if I have regarded the sun in its radiance or the moon moving in splendor, so that my heart was secretly enticed and my hand offered them a kiss of homage, then these also would be sins to be judged, for I would have been unfaithful to God on high. “If I have rejoiced at my enemy’s misfortune or gloated over the trouble that came to him— I have not allowed my mouth to sin by invoking a curse against their life— if those of my household have never said, ‘Who has not been filled with Job’s meat?’— but no stranger had to spend the night in the street, for my door was always open to the traveler— if I have concealed my sin as people do, by hiding my guilt in my heart because I so feared the crowd and so dreaded the contempt of the clans that I kept silent and would not go outside— (“Oh, that I had someone to hear me! I sign now my defense—let the Almighty answer me; let my accuser put his indictment in writing. Surely I would wear it on my shoulder, I would put it on like a crown. I would give him an account of my every step; I would present it to him as to a ruler.)— “if my land cries out against me and all its furrows are wet with tears, if I have devoured its yield without payment or broken the spirit of its tenants, then let briers come up instead of wheat and stinkweed instead of barley.” The words of Job are ended.”
Here Job is going on to list all these things and that if he ever committed a certain sin or didn’t act accordingly in a righteous way, then yes he deserves the judgment and punishment for those sins.
A list of what he spoke of that still applies to us:
Walk in falsehood and deceit
Stepping away from the “path”
Letting our hearts be led by our eyes
Hands being defiled
Heart being enticed by another woman
Denying justice to his servants
Deny the desires of the poor or let the eyes of the widow grow weary
Keeping bread to himself and not sharing it with orphans
Not warming the needy by withholding clothes/garments
Putting his trust in money
Worship the sun or the moon (astrology)
Rejoiced or gloated in an enemy’s misfortune
Cursing against someone
Concealing his sin
Using something without payment
Practical: to be mindful of all these things and to be sure that we don’t fall victim to these acts! We must act accordingly by God’s standard even though it can be incredibly difficult or desire to do the opposite 🙏🏼

Tell me about your gay feelings for your ex Bill
…We were only “exes” in the slightest sense. I seriously struggle to call it romantic, knowing everything that I now know.
But…if any feelings were to be had, now would be the time, I suppose.

A Modern Manservant
A modern magical comedy very loosely based on Ugly Betty. Publishing king Uther Pendragon has had enough of his playboy son seducing every female assistant he has ever had so he hires Merlin, a man he is sure Arthur will never sleep with. Merlin would be more insulted by this fact if he wasn’t so busy trying to juggle his duties, save Arthur's skin from ruthless fashionistas and keep his magic a secret at the same time. Expect appearances by oil-lathered knights, the occasional mad druid, a perverted Will and a mental caretaker who lives in the basement and keeps harping on about coins and destiny.
