The issues she brings up in this video are big reasons why it's so helpful when viewers spread the word to friends, family and social media about their favorite YouTube videos and channels. You can't assume the search box, feed or even "liking" a video will boost a creator.

As a woman making long-form videos on YouTube, apparently I've got the deck (aka the algorithm) stacked against me. As if I didn't know! My gaming channel's had very VERY slow growth over the years and I've been asked many times why I bother to keep doing it.

Well, not only do I enjoy it, I learn a lot (about gaming, editing, streaming, etc), I meet some great people, I've cheered a few of you up when you're down, and I've helped a lot of folks with gaming tips and solutions. I also think it's important to be out there as an over-50 gamer and a female gamer on YouTube who's playing everything from the smalled indie title to the biggest AAA's.

Don't let an algorithm control what you see! Notifications are notoriously unreliable on YouTube too so don't rely on those either. Make sure to subscribe to channels you like and check the "subscriptions" tab on your computer, phone or TV rather than the home page or "feed."

I spent less than $40 at a local Goodwill thrift store & got loads of beads, charms, chain, findings & a few surprises!

I made a 12-inch high model of a medieval market cart for week two of Potion Craft Fan Art Fest 2023. The theme was "Potion Shop Customization" and I wanted something the alchemist might wheel into town square during fairs & festivals.

The bottles are all based on potions in the game and the tent edges are shaped like tabs in the game's potion book.

I built the body of the cart out of craft sticks and used acrylic paint to fill the bottles. The tent and flag are paper, edged with brown ink to look like the game's art style.

My husband thought I glued little bits of wood to the sides of the axle, to mimic the way medieval carts would hammer a peg through the axle to keep the wheels from falling off. (I think it's called a locked or pegged mortise and tenon joint, but I'm no expert.) But I actually drilled small holes through the axle and hammed in miniature pegs, so it's entirely real and the wheels do roll.

There's a Potion Craft Fan Art Fest on Discord and the theme for this week is "Enchanted Garden." So I made this diorama of the enchanted garden from the game, inside of a replica of the game's recipe book.

I sketched a plan and bought a few supplies Friday night, then made the diorama Saturday. Monday was the deadline, and Sunday was Father's Day, so a big part of the challege was seeing if I could finish in one day!

The potion bottle on the front cover is a piece of molded plastic cut out of some packaging, glued to the cover and filled with glitter. I used glitter rather than painting the inside of the bottle because I wanted it to move like liquid when the book is moved.

The tree is fimo over an aluminum form. The flowers are paper, the tree leaves are moss, and the little alchemy map is a hand-drawn replica of the in-game water map. The little tabs were also drawn by hand.

Made this cocaine giraffe for my MONSTER PROM video. You can see it at the 17:00 mark. Too bad it's the least-viewed game I've ever played on my channel. It had some weird humor.

The second game of my "Innkeeper Month" is Tavern Master, released in Novermber 2021, where players expand and manage a medieval tavern. It kind of reminds me a bit of the time/resource management/sim games I used to play in the earlier 2000s.
