Remembering Firefighter Jake Bridges (Hickory Fire Department)
The Autism On Fire community mourns the heartbreaking loss of Firefighter Jake Bridges of the Hickory Fire Department, who passed away on Thursday at just 20 years old following a medical emergency while on duty.
Jake’s courage, service, and dedication to protecting others will never be forgotten. He embodied the true spirit of the fire service — selflessness, strength, and heart.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Jake’s family, his brothers and sisters at Hickory Fire, and all who knew and loved him.
Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here.

Observing Novemdiales
With a heavy heart, I’m stepping away from TikTok and social media for a few days to observe Novemdiales — the traditional nine-day mourning period in the Catholic Church following the passing of the Holy Father.
This time is sacred to me as a Catholic, and I will be using it for prayer, reflection, and honoring the legacy of Pope Francis.
I know not everyone will understand or agree, and that’s okay — but this isn’t the space for arguments. Out of respect, I’ve disabled comments on this post.
Thank you for your understanding.
I’ll see you all soon.
Requiescat in pace, Sancte Pater.

We are currently underground in the storm shelter here in Gadsden (Alabama), with a confirmed tornado on the ground near Clanton, AL. Don’t worry: we are safe and sound. But this is the weather situation to take seriously. Be prepared to seek shelter if warranted.

Enough is Enough.
It is absolutely disgusting that I even have to address this, but recent comments on my post remembering my late mother and her battle with mental illness have crossed every line of human decency. To those who selfishly used my grief as an opportunity to promote abhorrent and inappropriate practices involving psychics and microdosing—shame on you.
These kinds of comments are already bad enough when they appear on my posts about autism and ADHD, but to exploit the memory of my mother’s life and struggles is 100% unacceptable. Let me be crystal clear: this will NOT be tolerated on this page, nor on any platform managed by myself or the Autism On Fire brand.
The individuals responsible have been permanently blocked, reported to Facebook, and will have no place in this community. This is the FINAL comment on this matter. We must do better.
Mental health struggles are real, and if you or someone you know is hurting, seek real help from qualified professionals—not the lies and scams of those looking to profit off of others’ pain. Let’s continue to build a community of support, respect, and advocacy.

Nine Years Later and Still as Difficult as Day One
February is never an easy month for me, as today (February 24) marks nine years since the sudden passing of my mother. This grief and sadness was made even more painful as it was a suicide.
Tumblr media
If you still have one or both of your parents, please do me a favor and don’t take them for granted. I had the wonderful privilege to have my mother for just over 20 years, and I would do anything to have just 30 seconds with her again.
Tumblr media
If you are struggling mentally with self harm or suicidal thoughts or actions, please know that there is help. Dial 9-8-8 to speak to a trained mental health professional and get the help that you need and deserve.

I’m very excited to hear that the 9-1-1 universe is heading to Nashville. I don’t have that many details as of right now, but after a successful series like 9-1-1: Lone Star, I am very excited to see what’s next. Let me know in the comments below what your thoughts are.
