The way that the players keep chanting for just one more game as though that’s where it’s going to stop, because at first it’s just about getting enough money for survival, but the more that they win, the more that they believe that they can make the system work for them, the more that they allow greed to overtake them, but in the end, the system was never built for them, and with each game they come closer and closer to their deaths that they could have avoided had they just stopped the games earlier

Especially after that recent episode, I’m really thinking that Sydney killed himself. So much focus was given to how much he loved getting close to those train tracks. It also sadly fits thematically. The entire symbolism and meaning around Sydney’s resurrection is how his autonomy and consent was taken away by his caretaker, just like many disabled or mentally ill or neurodivergent people in real life. Of course, there’s nuance to this situation, Jedidiah’s just trying to protect him, and obviously we don’t want Sydney dead, but especially if the death in question was his choice in the first place, it complicates matters even further. Especially since while talking about the tracks, Sydney says that he liked that they gave him the choice, and control over whether he were to live or die. Jedidiah took that from him. Was it for his own good? Yes. Was Sydney not in his right state of mind when he made this decision? Also probably yes. But Jedidiah still chose to perform highly dangerous necromancy on him without his consent. My assumption as to why Jedidiah keeps blaming himself for this is that he likely said or did something that upset Sydney prior to his death, and like many people who lost a loved one to suicide, he blames himself. Maybe his actions did factor into it, this series doesn’t seem to pull many punches, so I assume that he is correct in his statement that Sydney died because of him, but I don’t think that it is the full story. The more we learn about Sydney’s life, the more it seems that there are many factors that have contributed to his mental state, mainly his upbringing and home life. So we’ll see how this theory pans out, but from what I can gather from the current details the story is providing as to how Sydney died which I believe the reveal of is a big story moment that we are leading up to, this is my best theory thus far.
