Chat I’ve just realized that I never seen a 100% straight Slimecicle character.

Like not even maybe straight, with a cis man dating a cis woman. The closest I can think of that Slime has ever gotten was with Peter from jrwi apotheosis, since Rumi was a character that, while technically unlabeled, used all pronouns meaning they could theoretically be a woman. But because of that thought process Peter would also be gay because Rumi was also kinda a man as well. So even if we’re generous, Peter would still be bi/pan, so not straight.

And like maybe qsmp because Mariana’s/character used she/him pronouns, but that isn’t really ‘canon’ so to speak, plus same issue as Peter. Also, the only women at the island for a long time was an aroace woman, and when more woman finally came they were uninterested in men because they didn’t want to date or because they just straight up weren’t into men. That made it so any relationships that happened had to be gay by default. Plus there was the whole bunny suit thing, and with Slime constantly flirting with Cellbit during purgatory, and Philza a bit too, and the fact that he never once flirted with a woman the entire time he was in purgatory/the island, safe to say q!Slime is off the possible straight checklist.

“But what about characters like Charlie’s backrooms videos?!” I hear the naysayers question, “Or Genloss Slimecicle? What about the characters that didn’t interact with anybody or formed no romantic relationships at all?” they cry out. Well dear reader, I have the perfect argument to an inquiry like this! An argument so airtight, that they’ll have no choice but to admit defeat!

They could be straight I guess, but like, using that same logic, they could also be the biggest boy kissers on the block, so like unless Charlie comes out and says without a doubt that they’re 100% straight, we’ll just have to assume they’re unlabeled…so my point still stands either way…

Even characters that don’t get much attention in the fandom overall, (and they really should) like Xiv aren’t because they fall under the Rumi category, gender identity makes it so they can’t be ‘properly’ straight no matter who they date. Hell, even his npcs are gay as fuck, like just look at Edward Twilight from The Suckening.

Overall, Charlie, we know you said your straight but if you wanna make an announcement we won’t judge you../j

No but seriously shoutout to Charlie for being able to depict multiple lgbtq+ characters so well and treat their sexualities and gender identities as another thing about them and with proper respect, especially considering he doesn’t identify with any of them.

Fun little treebark headcanon cause I’m obsessed with them;

Since we know that the watchers fed on the emotions of the players and that they prefer to eat their negative feeling, I personally think that positive emotions (ie. joy, love, excitement) are like overly sweet for them. Like if eating a player’s grief is a 5-star steak meal with gravy on the side, then that same player’s happiness is like eating those bags of cotton candy that you find only in random corner stores that taste like you poured pure sugar onto some lint.

I image that the watchers fed off of Martyn’s general paranoia and anger throughout the games and were eating good, that man wouldn’t even trust a clone of himself with a lie detector strapped onto him. But whenever Martyn was around Ren, the watchers must have been pretty pissed that one of their main food sources suddenly started to make gross meals with happiness sprinkled in instead of the usual fear soup they loved.

Martyn’s love and loyalty for Ren, while not completely overshadowing his negativity, definitely added some happiness to the meals that the watchers did not fuck with. So I personally think the idea of Martyn’s love for Ren indirectly harming the watchers by making them sick whenever they tried to feed on him to be a very fitting headcanon for Martyn as a character and for treebark as a ship.

The difference in fan reactions to lore from Ren compared to Martyn is so funny it’s like image their lore as one big play and they step out in the last scene

Ren goes on stage and dramatically announces that the main character died before he ever got to express his feeling for his true love with tears dramatically steaming down his face. The crowd stands up in a standing ovation as they throw hundreds of flowers on stage, people shout how wonderful the play was, men and women alike are in awe. He gets a few playful heckles about hurting people’s feelings, but overall the crowd loves it and spend the entire year telling anybody who will listen how amazing the play was and how Ren has reinvented theater for the fifth time.

Martyn goes on stage and announces that the main character died before confessing his true feelings to his love with the biggest shit eating grin on his face, the crowd stands and all simultaneously start throwing anything they have directly at him. He laughs as the screams of agony fill the room, half the building is on fire, the other half is flooded with tears. Cherri gets on stage and begins to beat him with a stick, the people will never recover from this. People who watched the play will go on to make the most beautiful pieces of art to ever grace the planet and call it shit like “what could have happened if Martyn wasn’t a bitch” while throwing thousands of dollars at Martyn to make another with sticky notes saying how big of an inspiration he is.

Something I find really interesting about the mouthwashing (game) fandom is how much unfiltered love Daisuke receives from the fandom.

I don’t think I’ve even seen a character so universally loved by everyone that I haven’t seen a single negative thing about them, like at all. It’s so fascinating to me because Daisuke’s fatal flaw was that he was a people pleaser, one that was so desperate to please it quite literally killed him. He so desperately wanted to be liked by the people around him that he was willing to sacrifice his comfort, morals, and safety in order to get the approval of someone that didn’t even seem to care that deeply about him overall.

And to have that character not only be the most well liked, but to be considered one of the most loved is such an ironic twist. Because that fact is if anyone who had played the game was in the ship, Daisuke most likely would have gotten what he wanted. He would have had someone that cared for him deeply, someone who was willing to tell him that he was someone they were proud of, someone willing to be honest and kind to him.

While Swansea and Anya most definitely cared for Daisuke, neither of them had the time or methods to give Daisuke the care he truly wanted. I don’t blame them, the situation at hand made it so they were dealing with bigger issues, and Jackass definitely didn’t make anything better. Anya couldn’t give Daisuke the care and support he wanted because she was to stressed and afraid to focus on him, Swansea was too depressed and hopeless to be able to tell Daisuke in those moments that he was honestly proud of him. If they had gotten off the ship and were given enough time to heal, they probably would have been able to give out that care and affection to each other easily.

That’s just it though. Daisuke was never able to get the care he wanted, because he tried to get it from someone that was using that desperation to save himself from danger. Had Daisuke put his foot down, refused to listen, decided he wouldn’t please someone in this moment, he most likely would have survived. That’s where the tragedy really strikes, the fact that Daisuke died purely because he was an unlucky kid that wanted to please the people around him really twists the knife. With the icing on the top of this horrific cake being that the care he blatantly sacrificed himself for was only given to him in his very last moments, when there was no possible way for him to recover.

Then to have that character, one that only got a glimpse of that care they craved, be the overall most loved. It feels like the fandom itself is trying to make up for the lost care, to unabashedly drown Daisuke in love as a way to make up for how little he got in the end. Daisuke is called “a useless ray of goddamn sunshine” by Swansea, with many fans repeating this idea, minus the useless part. That idea, the idea that people could care so deeply about someone, to compare them to a piece of the sun and desperately try to keep their light going after they’ve been snuffed out, that was ultimately the very thing Daisuke died for.

Sorry if this wasn’t accurate, it was already way to long for my taste, I just wanted to rant about Daisuke from the hit game Mouthwashing :P

TL;DR - Daisuke Mouthwashing was fighting for his life for some care that he only got when he was fucking dying, interesting that the fandom’s reaction to such a character was to immediately care about them a lot.

I’ve seen some people point out how similar Troy is to Gillion and with this info in mind I can only see his backstory going one of two ways

His backstory is either the complete opposite of Gill’s, with him being deemed unimportant and being basically ignored for his entire life or his backstory is so similar to Gill’s that it’s uncomfortable, being raised for one specific reason and only being taught that one thing

Or I’m just completely fucking wrong on all accounts and Troy really acts like that for shits and giggles idk
