Triple Melt Nachos Review
Coming off a very successful two month run of Nacho Fries, Taco Bell has decided to shelve the fries for a bit, employing the bold strategy of refusing to make money in order to develop hype. This only encourages Nacho Fry Scalpers, as nacho fries have peaked on ebay.
Anyway they’ve forged ahead with the next dollar limited time offer, the triple melt nachos, and triple melt burrito.

Sorry, pictured here,

are a straightforward Nachos Bellpequeño with three different kinds of cheese: white, orange, and goop, and a helping of beans (not beef, that’s the name of the blog). What’s weird about this is that it’s pretty close to just their Triple layer nachos, which is beans, red sauce and goop.
There’s an outside chance that they’ll keep these items on the dollar menu because they’ve indicated in press release form that they intend to have 20 dollar menu items by years end and this is definitely an appropriate amount of food for a dollar, which means we’ll have two different arrangements of small amounts of chips. I’m tentatively hyped. Chips should be arranged in as many forms as possible.
I dunno this is a lot of false enthusiasm here, obviously taco bell is spinning its wheels and this was super underwhelming. The burrito is plain enough as to be unmentionable. I liked the box it came in, though.
Speaking of spinning wheels, I’ve been rushing around a bit starting a lot more projects than usual and pushing myself a bit harder than I would like. I’m gainfully employed *knocks on wood* but it’s a big time commitment and I’m struggling with the same problem I had last time I was working a regular hours Monday through Friday job, namely making time and space for other things in my life instead of descending into a life of pure exhausted hedonism.
I totally did that last time. I would work just long enough that by the time I got home I wouldn’t be up to doing anything at all, putting a strain on my already messy relationship and leaving my living spaces to fallow. It’s also creatively and personally deadening. I might not be great at making art but expressing myself is fundamental to my suite of depression combat software and deleting those libraries causes all kinds of conflicts.
I don’t know if anything will stick! I don’t know what I’m doing at all, just throwing as many balls in the air as fast as I can so at least I’ll be forced to catch them out of sheer self-preservation. Who knows if it will work.

Taco Bell (Mild) and Fire! Tortilla Chips Review
Taco Bell decided to do a surprise announcement of these chips midway through last month. It’s an unusual brand extension, farmed out to one “Sugar Foods” corporation (You may know them from such products as N’joy sweeteners, Blue Diamond almonds, or Fresh Gourmet croutons) rather than Kraft, who handles all of their other grocery items (sauce, seasonings, salsa) or Frito-Lay, who has a close working relationship with taco bell w/r/t doritos.
The result is a Dorito that is very evidently not a Dorito. The flavor of Mild reaches something like a halfway point between nacho cheesier and cooler ranch, and the flavor of fire ends up a little like a cooler ranch Takis. I was very cold on the flavor at first, but it grew on me. It still lacks any real relation to “taco bell” let alone a relation to the sauces they’re named after. Go figure.
I ended up getting these chips a little earlier than they were supposed to release (if I recall correctly they’re not supposed to be out until May) because the Winn-Dixie near my job had them out as part of their Cinco de Mayo display they put up as soon as the Easter display went down. That’s right, my job. After all that angst from my last post I finally managed to get something.
What’s really messed up is it pays better than I was expecting. I might actually be able to dig myself out of this absurd hole I’ve been in. I’m still in shock and bracing for it to be an elaborate weeks-long prank. Once again it turned out to be a whirlwind process where I went from application to interview to hire, all in one day. Which is really kind of upsetting given how much work I put into so many false-starts and holding out hope and anxiety and etc, but whatever. It’s done and I owe so much to so many people who helped me get through such a rough period.
Onward to bigger things! Or at least better funded things! I’ll finally order taco bell outside the “$5 cravings box (now a gordita box)” paradigm!
