But in all seriousness, I am aware and don’t want to underplay that the men in this have also been abused

I just wanna note that the majority of the women have been portrayed as nasty, toxic and abusive. Also, the whole vibe of slut-shaming is p gross.

Anyways. The boys (aside from Dirk and Gamzee) get to have like. You know. Problems while also being in character (or at least, portrayed as victims). Well. Most of em do. Dirk doesn’t get to be a person because the writers said “lmao fuck him in particular” and it’s honestly so funny bcus they made Dirk’s whole motivation “I’m bored and I wanna make smthn” and I doubt any of his friends would have been opposed to having him fuck off to another planet, and then creating life on it, and as a matter of fact, I bet Jade would have been so fucking hyped for that, but I digress because this is abt the women.

HS^2 hates women. The ONE wlw couple that was honestly the best rep lesbians had, and was iconic for having lesbians in media and was able to reach a huge audience and also portrayed lesbian relationships as healthy and okay ??? Broken apart in both timelines. Plus, Rose being a cheater and liar when she would literally never be one is 👀👀👀👀 HS^2 writers have a shit take on Rosemary

Jade and Jane ?? Villainised for no reason other than to create drama even though neither of them would ever do what the epilogues and HS^2 claims they would. Alt!Calliope tries to steal Jade’s body and is actively selfish and self righteous when she would never be that inconsiderate in the first place 👀

Ain’t it weird how a majority of the women are portrayed as inherently toxic when their character was never like that before 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

The only women saved from this is Aradia and Terezi. But that’s because they don’t have a reason to be controlled by Dirk, so.

It just makes me so upset in my dumb little rat brain because I’m just. Staring at the ceiling going “Why tho. Why’d they have to do them like that. They had so much they could have talked about. Like, if they wanted to keep the whole Jane being evil thing which should def change bcus Jane would never but I digress. Rose’s story in Candy could have been abt how Rose is still handling her lack of powers and how empty it makes her feel sometimes, and how sometimes, she feels guilty because she feels like if she had simply known better, she could have help avoid so many issues they have. Also, because her powers are apart of her, “I am the smart one” image, and also because they’ve been with her for a long time, I find it odd that in canon, her lack of powers don’t change how she sees or processes things anymore. Like we don’t see the effects of it. Could you imagine that Rose is so used to just knowing and understanding things, that it’s just frustrating when she gets slightly confused about something ??? But she tries so hard to make sure her image is strong, and especially now because not only has it been something she was concerned with even as a kid (hence why she was always so guarded when she was younger) but now she’s a leader and literal influencer, and she feels like showing people that a god can bleed will make things harder. Kanaya could go in and be like “Rose, I Understand How Daunting It Is To Take On A Role You Feel You Are Not Fit To Have.“ Because that’s literally a core part of her character, and now Rose has to start learning how to cope without her powers with the help of Kanaya.

Kanaya’s story could be about how heavy her role is on her too, and how much she has to shoulder, because she’s literally fighting for her species to stay alive, and all she can think abt now is how her friends and how much she has to juggle, but because Kanaya is literally always expected to be the one to be kind and patient and motherly and always having the time and space for more, Kanaya is almost always in some way, forced to stay silent. Even in her own rebellion for her people, she has to stay silent, and it builds up, because she’s always had to shoulder people’s burdens and problems by herself, (see how every other time someone has to vent, it’s through her. i.e Eridan, Karkat, Vriska) and it’s hard on her because she wants to be able to focus on what she wants, but everytime she does, she feels like something else will topple (see her failed auspistice and how her focusing on Rose and what she (Kanaya) wanted, ended up in her accidentally ignoring that relationship, and again when Rose was having drinking problems and Kanaya pours herself into trying to help Rose with her issues despite just not wanting to deal with a drunk Rose at all, and then having to deal with the brunt of it without complaining until it just builds up and she just yells that she loves Rose but Rose needs to get her shit together, u know how it goes) and anyways, Kanaya has always been self sacrificing and she’s so fucking tired of having to be like that, because it’s eating away at her, and Rose doesn’t know what to do other than hold her and let Kanaya vent to her and cry on her shoulder, because Kanaya doesn’t know what else to do and neither does Rose, because if you think Rose knows how comfort people, you’re lying to yourself, and also, Rose is just starting to realize just how many people Kanaya is carrying and holding and how many times she’s done it.”

So like, they have stuff they can do and talk abt and have angst with, without y’know. Being chucked but whatever ig. There’s probably better and more stuff than what I have written down but like uuuurgghhhhhhhhhh I’m mad. The writers could have done so much more with Rosemary. They could have actually explored their characters and it’s frustrating to even know the peek of potential they had.

Like it's not even fan entitlement, rosemary, y'know a long-time canon ship, genuinely hasn't had any content for over a year since the epilogues. And it only gets more awkward when you realize rosemary never got as much attention in og hs as davekat did in hs2

Black people have given themselves a negative image by also using violence. Children shouldn’t be at peaceful protests either. They know the risks. Thinking abt how if Homestuck was in Glitch Techs, everyone working as a Glitch Tech would go fucking bonkers because someone was using who hoped to run an old obscure “vintage game” that instead was really just SBURB and a glitch would happen, because obviously, Hinobi tech is unreliable, and because reality is already breaking apart where the kids are, it barfs out them out, and y’know that’s par for the course, but you know what isn’t ??? The fact that the gauntlet scanners can’t read them, and it’s because they’re all (in some way) partially biological, as in, they’re not all mashed up with a game entity, and even characters who didn’t godtier have a little “glitch” in them (because it’s assumed and implied that all characters have their powers even before SBURB starts)

Anyone who godtiered (especially Aradia and Jade because they’re merged with actual SPRITES) would make the gauntlets go ballistic because they’ve all merged with a part of the game (because the dreamselves only exist in the incisisphere that SBURB itself provides) but no one can tell if they’re sentient or just really complex A.I. that the game had somehow been programmed with.

Anyways uhhh Roxy becomes a modder, Jade fights with Mitch, and loves hanging out with Miko and Five (Miko bcus they have the same vibes and Five bcus he reminds her of John), John becomes good friends with Five, Dave ironically starts using all the gamer lingo they have until he starts to realize he’s no longer ironically saying them, Kanaya is probably the only other person Mitch will tolerate, purely based on her fashion and self care, and likewise she doesn’t pay much attention to him. She does however, fight glitches and each and every single time she does, she has to get told to not lick anything that bleeds onto her chainsaw after she cuts something up. Naturally, sometimes she takes a lick and regrets it. Dirk gets really into this and dresses like an anime character half the time, Jake gets in on every single one of the adventures they have, Aradia is probably kicking ass, but mostly casually, she’s just there to see how things go. Rose helps detect glitches and helps to avoid them, but usually stays to the side to just mess around. These are the only hcs I have rn uhhhh
