Smashing this song and my headcanon that Dash's dad is in the GIW together to make a fic Idea where the GIW finds out Danny's identity and tells on him to his parents in their hunt for phantom --

Dash's dad leads the operation, him and his team (along with the Fenton parents) cornering Danny after school while he's hiding/running away from Dash, forcing transform in order to get away; unbeknownst to either party, Dash witnesses everything and runs after Phantom to try and help.

Que the two stumbling into and getting trapped in the ghost zone in a confused scuffle while Danny's trying to escape, now on the run from three (3) parents and one (1) secret government organization.

I kinda wanna use this premise to explore how Dash would progress through learning Phantom is Danny, and then (separately!) becoming a better person--

-- I think he'd be super annoying about it at first; idolizing Danny, pestering him a bunch about how cool it is to have ghost powers, generally acting way too close with him, and completely pushing aside how he treated Danny before the revelation.

Most of the situations we see Dash become friendly towards/respectful of Danny in-show are usually after Danny has shown himself to be physically strong/confident (see: Pirate Radio), and even then, Dash doesn't proceed to do any introspection at all and continues to bully him.

Conclusion: Learning Phantom = Danny would not be enough to trigger a redemption arc for Dash. This boy needs to learn some empathy.

Dash actively witnessing Danny having issues despite being powerful as Phantom (i.e. fearing and having to run from his parents, the toll fighting ghosts takes on his school/life/mental health, etc.), as well as being confronted with how privileged he is himself (having a loving, attentive family, being much better off financially, etc.) would force him into being more introspective.

Throw in him realizing the parallel between how the GIW treats Phantom with how he treats Danny (i.e. indiscriminate & unreasonable anger & violence), and -boom!- it clicks for him

So I’ve been binging a bunch of DPxDC crossover fics cause they’re hella fun. And I wanted to make some fanart for a handful of the fics I’ve been reading just to show how vastly different Danny gets portrayed. It’s really fun!! I love when ppl make Danny get Jack’s tall ass gene’s, but it’s also funny to see him as a scrawny lil guy. He’s a pretty moldable character

Danny was pulled out of his doze by the sound of gravel being crushed under heavy tires. He sat up from where he had been sprawled across the backseat of his Honda to see a familiar white truck parked behind him. Both boys exited their vehicles. 

The tension was palpable. After crying into Dash’s shoulder for longer than he wanted to admit to, Danny had immediately excused himself and left Dash outside on the stoop. While both boys were trying to play it cool, after more than two weeks of no contact after the incident, their nerves were on fire, each waiting on the other to bring up what comes next for their tentative situationship. 

“What happened?” Dash asked? 

“Smoke started coming out of my hood when I was driving. Figured that was a problem, so you know. Pulled over.” 

Dash gave a small smile before continuing, “What color was the smoke?” 

“Uh... white I think.” Danny replied as he followed Dash to the front of his car. 

Dash hummed as he looked over the engine bay, glad to put his focus on something tangible and less awkward. 

“I think it’s just a coolant leak.” He said after a moment. “See there?” 

Danny followed the direction Dash was pointing to see a goop of green viscous substance crusted on a hose near the engine. 

“Looks like ectoplasm.” Danny stated, looking perplexed. 

His response confused Dash in return. He knew- as did all residents of Amity Park by this point - what ectoplasm was and what it looked like, but he has no reason to believe it would be found under the hood of a car. 

“Pretty sure it’s just coolant” Dash countered. 

“Is coolant green?” 

“It can be. Your car needed this kind anyway. Didn’t you see me replace it when I was fixing your water pump?” 

“I was doing homework.” 

To Dash’s horror he watched as Danny swabbed some of the goop with his fingers and brought it to his face. 

“It’s ectoplasm.” Danny stated as he stared at Dash, surprised at such an emotional reaction. “I was checking to see if it was ectoplasm, and it is.” 

Dash could only gawk, his eyebrows drawn together and mouth slightly agape as his bewilderment over Danny’s actions sank in. 

“Wha-...a-... Is that how you normally check? Also what if it wasn’t?! What if it was coolant and you ended up poisoning yourself?!” 

“And what, die?” Danny laughed. “Been there, done that.” 

“WHAT?!” Dash cried, his state of horror skyrocketing.

“What?” Danny returned defensively, “How do you think you get ghost powers?” 

“I don’t know! I figured you just got zapped by something your parents made!” Dash countered. 

“I mean you’re not too far off. I just also had to die a little bit.” 

“Holy shit” Dash breathed. He understood now why Danny hadn’t wanted to talk about it ages ago when they were in his truck. But Danny’s current casual tone at the admittance of his own death was making the already overwhelming news worse. 

“Danny, you’ve died.” Dash reiterated just to put into words the problem that was happening. 

“Yeah?... Did you really not put that together? I know people- I mean, I’ve literally heard you and Paulina talk about who Phantom was when he was alive. you know, past tense. Like I know you know ghosts are dead” Danny recounted.

Finally! Part 10 exits! Thank you all for waiting. It took a hot minute to gain the time, motivation, and inspiration for me to figure this bad boy out. But it's finally here, and I'm so happy to announce that the boys are not getting back together. Unfortunately for you all I love a bittersweet ending. There is still one more part to this AU before it's all wrapped up, and I might make an epilogue. But overall, I'm looking to leave it more open-ended because I think it's more satisfying that way (I'm sure many would disagree, but unfortunately I am not sorry.)

Also don't ya'll love that the art in almost every part looks different from the last part? I personally am not upset by this, but it's funny to see what drawing process I'm vibing with during the creation process

Dash took the quote and read through it all, noting the make and model and calculating whether he could fix it at home or if he needed the equipment at work. 

“I'll order the parts today. They should come in in the next few days.” Dash stated

“Oh, uh, cool. How much are parts going to cost?” Danny asked, reluctant to hear the price. He wasn't excited to dip into his savings, but anything should be better than the $480 he would be looking at otherwise.

“Don’t worry about it. I said I'd fix your car for free and I meant it.” Dash said as he put his math book back into his locker and started rummaging around for his physics notebook. 

“I’m really not.” Dash said as he successfully found his notebook “I just learned how to handle myself better” 

“What do you mean?” Danny asked, his curiosity peaked. 

Dash stared into his locker like it could get him out of this conversation

It didn’t work. With a sigh he asked, “Did you hear what happened with me and Katie?” 

Danny shook his head no. The Phantom trio usually stayed up to date on the rumor mill, but all he knew was that it had been a year since Dash dated, not what had ended Mr. Popular’s last relationship.

“We fought a lot while we dated, and at one point when we were arguing I got so mad I almost hit her.” Dash couldn't help but glance at Danny, trying to gauge his expression. Dash didn't know if the surprise he saw was neutral or judgmental, so he trudged on. “I told my mom what happened, and she signed me up for anger management classes. Been doing them for like a year now.” 

Dash had all he needed from his locker, but he couldn't bring himself to close the door yet. He didn't like talking about this. It always brought back a mix of embarrassment and shame that he loathed feeling. He’d always been confident he could pick and choose who to direct his anger and brutality towards. Instead, he found himself helpless when his anger rushed into every fiber of his being, only to find release in the physicality of violence. He closed his eyes and started a countdown from ten to one, breathing from his nose as his emotions roiled at the memory of Katie’s horrified face, knowing what he'd almost done. His spiral was broken at the soft “Huh” he heard from the boy at his side. Dash finally looked at him. 

“So if I tried making you mad right now, what would you do?” Danny asked 

“Why? Looking to test me?” Dash challenged.

 With a shameless grin Danny shrugged his shoulders  “Maybe. I want to see-Wait,” Danny eyebrows met in confusion. “You stopped messing with me like two years ago.” 

“Yeah.” 

“That was before your classes and stuff.” 

“Yeah.” Dash said evenly. Internally, his heart kicked a little harder knowing where this was going to go and knowing he was about to admit to something he’d rather take to the grave. 

“What changed then? Why’d you stop? Not that that’s not a good thing- the stopping- but it doesn't make sense.” 

“You know how you got your growth spirt like 2 years ago?” 

“Yeah” 

“Yeah, well, when you got taller than me, I started getting a little nervous. So, I checked you out in the locker room to gauge if I could still take you. Turns out you put on more muscle than those baggy shirts show off... so... I decided to stop messing with you in case you ever fought back, because I couldn’t guarantee I'd win anymore. I... didn't think I could take the embarrassment if you beat me at some point."

Alright, i actually mean it this time. It's gonna be like a week before the next update. My appointment cancelled today so I had time to scribble (i say like it didn't take my entire day) this part out

I feel like they just keep getting longer ya'll. But there's going to be at least 3 more parts. Potentially 5 depending on energy levels and motivation

And if the quality feels different, I was working off of my IPad today instead of my tablet (Plus I'm getting used to drawing these two)
