It is a painful truth that actually none of my fics are abandoned, no, not even the ones that haven’t updated in five years. I still know exactly what happens next, and after that, and so on. They’re not abandoned; they’re right here, haunting me, characters climbing up my pants like kittens nagging for dinner.

Me: I have to write the fic chronologically

Also me: I need them to kiss now so that I can have the slightest hit of serotonin

In which Harry Potter remembers the past, and encounters the present.

I don’t have any real thoughts right now. It’s just blank. Updating a story after a 4+ year hiatus? Okay then. That is a thing I have just done. Maybe I’ll have more to say regarding that or the story itself (something meaningful and considered and very, very clever) in the future. But maybe not.

I hope people are still enjoying all the stories out there.

me, looking them dead in the eye: neither did canon, but here we are

me writing action: they ran real fast from the bad men aand legs hurty

Me: If I want to foreshadow this well, I have to be subtle.

Also me: The masquerade ball was TO DIE FOR. Evangeline descended the stairs in her BLOOD RED dress, her smile SHARP LIKE A KNIFE. Her entire outfit was a HEART-STOPPER and if LOOKS COULD KILL, everyone would have DIED…to DEATH.

Headcanon: I can muster a cogent argument for why it would make more sense or make for a better story if this were the case

Heartcanon: I don’t have a particular rationale for why this ought to be the case, I just like to imagine it’s true because it gives me the warm fuzzies

Gutcanon: it’s not that I actively want this to be the case – it just unaccountably feels like it should be

Junkcanon: I like to imagine it’s true because it gives me the other kind of warm fuzzies

Spleencanon: I insist that this is the case specifically to spite the author, because, like, fuck you, sir or madam
