For a year I've been writing a fanfic on How to Train Your Dragon (movie) from Toothless' point of view. A true and tried plan, except my favorite parts about it.

Toothless talks in dragonese sometimes. Calls Hiccup a "no-brainer", the moon is the "eye of the dark" (because it sounds cooler than "dark-peeper"), birds are "song-munches". I mean, the story is mostly in English though.

Here is Toothless finding an eel in his breakfast:

“SWEET WODEN, THIS NO-BRAINER IS TRYING TO KILL ME!”

I use an online dragonese dictionary to help me make the story less readable.

It's meant to read as if Toothless had written a memoir a la HTTYD book style. There are supposed to be silly drawings and I've drawn none of them.

Toothless wants to learn no-brainese, so I sometimes catch myself thinking he must be book Hiccup's reincarnation. I'm going to make him a human geek as soon as I feel like writing. I can just imagine this characterization of him hanging out on house roofs, peeking over the edge to watch how humans interact, Hiccup napping on his back.

There are only 6,700 words and I've just barely scraped into the "See You Tomorrow" montage. This is a year's effort. I predict I'll finish within five years at 15k words, lol.

I spent too long searching up a song about doors I heard on Boomerang like 15 years ago when it was in fact a song about floors I heard on Phineas and Ferb like 15 years ago.

There's so much vitriol in the Fairy Queen's voice and expression when she's speaking of Ella's opposition, the Ella asks her, "Wisely?"

And Fairy Queen answers in the sweetest tone, "Hardly."

And I love her so much

The prince did kind of become a martyr in the end, and that's kind of romantic. He finally did it.

omigosh, Justine and Lucy's names just sound so much like Justice and Light, it's so fucking fitting that they jumpstart Ella into action. I will love them forever.
