more redesign stuff

Redesigning alice/stella

Redesigning - Alice

i have an old pony oc hero character that i intended to write for but since i'm honestly not much of a writer i just never did XD i dont really draw ponies anymore and have kind of lost that skillset to a degree (not that i was ever that good at it XD) but i still really like this character and kinda wanna use her so today i was thinking about her and just thought, "you know what i'm gonna redesign her" she kinda needed an update anyway since i just wasnt that good at drawing especially hair and such before anyway.  with a human design i can also add more details and things. so originally she was named Stella Mare haha good joke because she was a horse at the time XD redrawing her i started out with just thinking about what needed to change. my initial thing was i want her hair to be more fire like. before it was purple and just plain straight with a ponytail style for her hero getup. i think i chose purple because red was already a colour i had a tendency to use a lot for characters so i just wanted to do something different. on the redesign i was looking at hairstyles designed to look kinda like fire and stuff. i ended up deciding on this one style that was almost like a bluish black on the roots fading into a fierce red and orange almost like coal and fire which i felt like would be neat especially since the blue hue on the black roots were very complimentary to the red. since the original does have any clothes on the normal version it's pretty open to anything. i wanted her to be kind of girly looking still since her old design had bows and such but i also wanted to make her tastes maybe more refined and mature. as i was dressing her she also started coming off more with maybe brazilian vibes which wasnt the intention but thats the sort of beauty i think she ended up carrying. lastly i decided to keep her old jewlery since there wasnt realyl a reason to remove that and i felt it'd be a nice reminder that shes still the same character. i did change her hair bow to be the same as what she has on her hero design in my pony one just because you couldnt see the bow from this angle anyway and i didnt wanna give her like a comically huge bow. i think that's all the changes i made other than obviously making her human. oh yeah i changed her name to Alice XD i just kept thinking Alice as i was drawing her clothes and was ig convincing myself that was her name because when i looked up at my ref sheet i thought "oh her name is stella? huh.." like idk i remembered mare i was just calling her Alice Mare in my head XD so yeah i think i'll rename her maybe fully we'll see happy timezones people Commissions are Open links https://www.deviantart.com/blakefate https://www.tumblr.com/blakefate1356 https://www.patreon.com/BlakeFate https://ko-fi.com/steph90314 https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/31935735

here's another two. I meant to post this yesterday but I forgot. I wanna note that these aren't in order. they were supposed to be but I forgot what I was doing part way through because I wanted to draw the one with the plushy xD Ive been considering doing an animation thing where they slowly evolve into what they are now but Im not exactly big on animation and it's be a huge project as well... alright first off sorry for the late post. normally these sketches dont take me too long to do but honestly i wasnt really sure how to go about this one. there was only one specific reason for that which is that he's a black man. which sounds super racist i guess but honestly i was spending a lot of time looking at pictures of black men wondering if i should lean into common traits they have like wider set noses/lips and the fact that (at least the pictures i was looking at) a lot of black men seem to have kind of uhh whats it called? puffy eyes? idk swollen ish? idk what to call it ^^' when i decided on facial features i started looking at his hair and honestly i think i had a stroke in the end XD im never attempting to draw dreads/braids again... i think his hair turned out okay but honestly i have no idea if it's giving off the intended look... then i finished lining and cleaning him up and i went "wait... how do i 'colour' him..." because if you hadnt noticed im using shades of grey (graphic pen pressure) to give the illusion of colour and uhm well... he's black in black XD i wasnt sure how to "colour" him without just making the whole thing the same shade of grey XD i tried to be really light handed with his skin so that i could colour it just enough that he'd be darker than my other drawings but not dark enough that his clothes and hair would bleed into it. idk how this turned out i feel conflicted about it ^^' happy timezones people Commissions are Open links https://www.deviantart.com/blakefate https://www.tumblr.com/blakefate1356 https://www.patreon.com/BlakeFate https://ko-fi.com/steph90314 https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/31935735
