Sweetener

Synopsis~ Your mornings used to be bland and boring, and, like most people, you hated mornings. You didn’t like waking up early and would much rather stay in bed. Then she came into your life, making mornings a bit sweeter.

A/N~ A small one-shot to ease back into making reader x fics. Please forgive me if this one is bad, it’s been awhile. 😅

You slowly opened your eyes, shutting them almost i mmediately after catching a glimpse of the blinding light that was spilling into the bedroom. Your hand instinctively feels the sheets next to you, finding them to be empty, lacking the body or warmth you’d usually feel.

As you start to wake up a bit more, the rest of your senses coming to you, you smile, recognizing the familiar scent of breakfast in the air, your ears picking up on some faint sizzling.

So she was here, you thought she had gotten a call from work asking her to come in. Your worries dispelled, you hop out of bed, slipping on your robe and some house shoes, making your way to your bathroom.

You use the restroom, brush your teeth, and get into the shower. Stepping out, you put your robe back on, too lazy to put on actual clothes. You follow the smell of food into the kitchen, your eyes landing on her.

Her back was turned, wearing an oversized tee-shirt. Her legs uncovered, lean yet firm, as she prepared breakfast for the two of you. You silently sneak up on her, wrapping your arms loosely around her waist, “ Goodmorning~” you say placing a kiss on the back of her neck.

“ Goodmorning to you too, sleepyhead. You sleep well?” She asks, turning around to warp her arms around your neck, “ I always do with you.” You say, watching her turn around to make sure the food doesn't burn. You rest your head on her shoulder, watching her cook silently before she breaks the silence, “ You know when I first met you, I couldn't get you to wake up because you hated mornings so much,”

“ And I still do,”

“ Well, maybe if you didn't stay up so late into the night, your mornings would be more bearable.”

“ True, but we both know that's not going to happen.” Maki gave you a fond, exasperated look, a smile playing at her lips. “ Anyways, I remember it used to take me forever to get you up,” She continues, tapping at your arms so you can let her go, moving around the kitchen as you took your seat at the island.

“ I literally had to bribe you because you would not get up.” She went on, plating your breakfast, sliding it down to you. You give her a mouthed thank you, eagerly digging into it, savoring it.

You see her sit down next to you. You must have been staring at her because she raises an eyebrow at you, making you smile at her, mumbling a quiet nothing. It was times like this when it was early and the sun was starting to rise higher into the sky, where you could catch her looking at peace.

Normally, she seemed to be a bit tense, always working or out on duty. But then, you’d wake up in the morning to her making you breakfast, wearing her usual pajamas, a plain, oversized, white shirt, nothing underneath but some short shorts.

The sun caught her face in the perfect angles, making her eyes pop even more and making her seem ethereal, and she just seemed to be at such peace. Honestly, it made you happy, to know she found peace, her peace when she was with you.

You found peace in her as well, heck, her mere existence made your mornings a bit more bearable. She was your sweetener, and you were grateful to her for it.

✨Random Maki Headcanons✨

A/N- Ahh it’s been a while hasn’t it? So to come back here are some random Maki headcanons that have popped into my head recently, Hope you enjoy!

- Maki and Itadori friendship supremacy

- So Maki was unsure of Itadori at first but then was very happy to have a sparing buddy not to mention their naturally athletic bodies. So you know that they become best friends.

- She’s competitive

- She was questioning her sexuality before coming out as Demiromantic

- Found out that she not only has a naturally athletic body, but also naturally flexible body

- Does not, I repeat does not like coffee

- Much more of a tea person, no sugar. She uses honey.

- Favorite tea? Green mocha tea.

- Her favorite color is lavender

- She needs to take a least two power naps a day. Panda and Imumaki can get pretty loud at times.

- Works a lot on her lower body because her upper body was pretty strong form the get go, so she decided at first to focus on her lower body.

- Likes bittersweet chocolate

- Doesn’t like overly sweet sweets, every time she eats one she feels like she’s gonna get sick

- When she’s sick, she loves to be pampered and taken care of. Even if she tries to protest against it

- Favorite type of music? Jazz( Idk she strikes me as a jazz kinda person)

- She only owns one nice dress. Doesn’t really like dresses and only wears one when necessary.

- Most of her everyday clothes are shades of black, white, and purple. Oh with a sprinkle of green in there.

“Come on y/n, I promise I’ll be quick,” Maki promised to take their hands in hers. “ ... Sorry,” Y/n mumbled as they reluctantly let go of the hem of Maki’s shirt.

“ Just be quick, ok?” They asked turning their head to the side. Y/n had always been clingy when it came to Maki, not that she minded it. But sometimes she couldn’t quite understand why y/n was so... anxious.

Especially when she was just leaving for a bit, “ Of course.” She confirmed placing a kiss on y/n’s forehead. Y/n smiled softly at her as she left the car. Locking it behind her, with this leaving y/n alone.

They started to mess around with their phone, trying to distract themselves. But soon unable to keep those thoughts away. What if you’re trapped in here? What if she got hurt? No one would hear you if you screamed.

Leaning back y/n started to focus on their breathing, Breath in breath out. Time must’ve flown by while they were trying to control their breathing because soon Maki was unlocking the car and getting in on the driver’s side, a bag in her hands.

“ I got you some candy,” She says handing it to y/n. They smile softly as they leaned over and placed a kiss on her cheek. She giggled as she put the key in the ignition and started to pull away from the store.

When you get home you plopped down on the couch, a relaxed sigh escaping your lips. Y/n closed their eyes as there was a moment of silence before they felt the weight shift on the couch. Maki reached her arms out and pulled y/n into her arms, peppering light kisses on their face.

“Thank you,” Y/n whispered, letting sleep overtake them.

A/N- Thanks for the request, and I’m fine. Thanks for asking. 😊 I apologize for it being so short, as well as the time that it took for me to finish this. Warning this is written in the third person.

So far the plan was working, the first years had started a conversation with Maki and were talking about random things. Itadori gave a quick glance at Megumi as if to ask if he could say it now. Megumi gave a nod and waited for him to ask.

Their silent communication didn’t get by unnoticed by Maki’s eyes, “ Is there something you want to ask me?” She questions, her gaze moving between the three of them. “We- “ Nobara started, but Itadori unable to keep quiet anymore blurted out, “ We wanted to know if you are seeing someone.” Then just as the words left his mouth, y/n appeared out of nowhere.

“ Hey, Maki!” She greeted her cheerfully as she placed a kiss on her cheek, leaving the other first years except Megumi shocked. “ Hey, guys!” She welcomed them, snapping them out of their shock, “ You’re dating Y/n Senpai?!” Itadori exclaimed, his eyes still wide with surprise. “ Hey love,” Maki says back to y/n. “And yes, y/n and I are dating”

“ WHA- since when?!” Itadori exclaimed.

Maki gives a little chuckle at Itadori’s antics, “ Since a year ago.”

“ But I thought Y/n Senpai only got here five months ago.” Nobara says, speaking everyone's mind. “ Yeah, but I've known her long before she arrived here.” Maki elaborates for them, lacing y/n and her hands together.

“ I met Maki two years ago when I was going to a different school. She was there for....?” Y/n led off looking towards Maki waiting for her to continue the story.

“ Forgetful as always, it was on a “field trip”. We went over to there and stayed at her school, me and her were neighbors. One night she came and asked if I wanted to hang out and we hit it off.” Maki continued, smiling at the memory.

“ Hmm, any of you hungry?” Y/n asks looking between the first years, “ Thank you Senpai, but-“ Megumi started, “ Yes! We are, why?” Itadori cut it, earning a smack on the head from him.

Y/n giggles a bit, “ Well I was about to take Maki out to eat and I was wondering if you’d like to join us?”

“Ye-“ another smack on the head, “ Yes of course we’ll join you.” Megumi says. Y/n smiles as she loops her arm in with Maki’s, leading the first years.

✨Living with Maki Headcanons + Random Headcanons✨

A/N- I’ve been having some thoughts about what it would be like if you lived with maki or even if you were in the dorm next to her... so that’s what these Headcanons are going to be centered around, with some random ones I have thrown in there. Hope you enjoy!

If you lived in the dorm next to Maki

- you both have spare keys to each other’s rooms

- You spend more time in her dorm than you do in yours. Especially when she’s off late taking care of a curse.

- Sometimes when you can’t sleep and maki isn’t there, you go into her dorm and sleep in her bed, her scent calms you down.

- You are always stealing her clothes, but it’s ok because she does too

- Sometimes when you leave and leave her behind, she cooks you dinner. And just waits patiently for you to come back

- You have a annual movie night every Friday

- She’s totally walked in on you right after you’ve taken a shower, on accident.

- But then you just start to take showers together, so now if she were to, you wouldn’t care.

- After a while y’all just started to sleep together too, you particularly live in the same dorm room now

- She likes to fall asleep in your lap while you read to her or while you’re just reading

If you and Maki lived together

- She’s always waking up earlier than you

- But that means she always cooks you breakfast too

- Idc what anyone says, Maki is a thighs type of woman and because that, I think that when she comes home she likes to lay on your lap

- Sometimes when she’s had a bad night, the next morning you’ll call her in sick and pamper her for the entire day.

- A while ago she woke up really early, and you got worried sick because she wasn’t answering her phone( it had broke) so from this day on she started to leave little notes everywhere. Like the bathroom, the kitchen, your closet, any where to remind you that she was ok and that she loves you and that she’d be back soon.

- Whenever she goes on a trip and she comes back, you surprise her with presents and a nice candlelit dinner.

- On snowy days you like to curl up with her and just watch the flames dance in the fireplace

Random Headcanons

- I think she would play video games, like you convince her to get a tv but because she never used it you got a console and now she’s on it whenever he has the time

- But because of that you end up pouting because she isn’t giving you attention, so she pulls you into her lap and continues to play with you in her lap. Placing occasional kisses on the side of your neck.

- And everytime she wins a game you take he hand and place a kiss to it.

- Whenever she has a headache, she has you kiss where it hurts. Claiming that when you kiss it, it stops hurting.

- Sparing is a regular thing with her, even if you both know you’re not going to beat her.

This takes place after she’s graduated from Jujutsu Tech. You are a normal civilian, and you’ve been trying your best to support Maki as a jujutsu sorcerer. Hope you enjoy it!

You finished making the flower arrangements you had been working on, with a relaxed sigh you hand them to the woman that had requested them. Offering up a warm smile as you ring her up, “These flowers are just lovely, you have quite the eye.” She complimented.

You smile at her as you hand her the change, “Thank you for coming ma’am, have a nice day.” You say as she walks out the door. You sigh as you walk from behind the counter, moving to the very front of the store. Your eyes begin to scan over everything, making sure it’s all in order.

You take off your apron, neatly folding it, and putting it back behind the counter. You pack up your things, and as you walk out, you take one last glance at your shop. You give a small smile and walk out the door, locking it behind you.

As you walk the short way back to your house, you find your mind wandering off. It’s been about two months since Maki left on that assignment. She had been in contact with you, but lately, she’s stopped answering your texts as well as your calls, and you’ve been getting more and more worried about her.

You try to stop those thoughts from entering your head, but you can’t so you decide to go to the top of your rooftop. The sun is about to set, so you make yourself some tea and head off to the rooftop.

“Beautiful...”, you whispered as you looked off into the distance. As you look at it, you start to remember the time you brought Maki up here. Her eyes always did look beautiful bathed in the sunlight.

“Hey y/n, do you like this view?” Maki had once asked you. You give her a glance before turning your eyes back to the setting sun, “ Yes I do, you?”

“Mhm, but I think I like it better when I can see your joyful expression.” She says to you with a smile, and your smile too recalling the memory. You are then brought out of thoughts by a cool breeze. You look up only to find that it turns to night, so you get up and decide that it’s time for you to retire to bed.

Little did you know that the next day a surprise would be waiting for you.

You get up and do your usual daily routine, getting to your shop around 6:30, about two hours before it opens. And therein all her glory was Maki. She was standing by the front door, waiting.

As you get closer your slow waking turned into a light jog, and then to a full-on sprint as you got closer, “Maki!” You yell as you jump into her arms, hugging her neck tight and burying your face into the crook of her neck.

You hear a light chuckle come from her,” Hey y/n, how’ve you been?” She asks wrapping her arms around your lower back. “I’ve been good.... but why’d didn’t you answer me when I called?! You had me worried sick!” You exclaimed, pulling away from her and pouting.

“Sorry, my phone had broken and it took some time for me to get a new one, but by then I was already on my way back. So I decided to just surprise you instead.” She explains, rubbing the back of your neck.

“Next time text me first” you muttered as she brought you in for another hug, and soon you found yourself completely relaxed into it.

“Hey,” Maki started as she lifted your head to look her in the eyes. She places a quick kiss on your lips, leaving you stunned. She gives you a warm smile before taking off and running in the opposite direction.

“Hey! Wait up!” You called after her, turning to chase after her. You heard her laugh, “Come and get me, y/n!” She calls out. You smile and start to speed up in your pursuit of her. She’s home, finally, she’s back home, and that’s all you could have ever asked for.

✨Conflicted! Maki Zenin x Nb Reader Headcanons ✨

Author’s note: So a little bit of background. She’s still a student at Jujutsu Tech and you are a year above her. Y’all met through a meeting that all the third years and second years had to attend. She came up to you after the meeting. She had some sort of gut feeling about you, she's not the type to ignore her gut either. You explain to her how sometimes people get put off by your cursed energy. It’s a little different from most.

You talk for bit and end up exchanging numbers.After about a month you forgot you even had her number, till one night you got a knock on your door. You open it and she invites herself in. She didn’t seem to be in the right headspace, you ask her what’s wrong and she explained how she just needs to talk to someone.

It’s after this day she frequently comes to you just to vent.

She loves to lay in your lap, as she’s said herself, “I just like your thighs, they’re toned but soft at the same time.”

You often find yourself having to talk her down, in sense. Some nights she’ll just go on on about how she feels like her efforts will amount to nothing if her clan keeps getting in the way.

One time you took her to a coffee shop, it was the best idea you could come up with to cheer her up . You bought her a coffee cake, and since then she’s been hooked.

You surprised her with a new cursed weapon.

She likes the sound of your voice,so you often read to her,upon her request, of course.

Some days, when she’s needs something more than just to vent, you spar with her. Helping her get her anger out.

You sat upright in your hospital bed. The sounds of the doctor turning into nothing more but ringing in your ears. You felt the hand of the doctor pat you on the back and hear the closing of a door not too shortly after. You are now alone in your room, your only company being your thoughts. Then after a few seconds begin to sob. Not even four days ago you were on death’s door.

The doctors had done their best when they were snitching you up, trying not to leave too many scars on your body, but it couldn’t be helped. It’s not even the scars that bothered you, it was the pain. The scars were so sensitive to the touch that, if you’re not careful, any slight touch could feel like sharp needles prickling your skin.

You are then suddenly brought out of your thoughts when you hear the opening and closing of your room door. You slowly turn your head, and to your surprise, it was Maki and Mai, the Zenin Twins. Mai was holding flowers and Maki was carrying a basket filled with food.

Maki turns her head to the side, her cheeks turning a shade of pink. “We were worried about you, so we came to visit you.”

“ I brought flowers because.. um.. well I thought you’d like them,” Mai says walking over and carefully handing the flowers to you. A small smile spreads across your face as you accept them. You then look back up to Maki, signaling for her to come forward. She sighs and walks up to your bed.

She places the basket of food on the end of your bed. “ I was thinking that you would want to have some normal food instead of having to eat the hospital’s crappy food.” You look at the basket of food before returning your gaze to Maki, smiling up at her softy.

“Well, what are we waiting for? I’m starving.” You say with a smile. They then proceed to take off their coats and sit down on your bed. Maki slides the basket to you, letting you pick out what you want to eat first. You settle on the salad. And they follow suit.

Passing the basket among themselves as they pick out what they want to eat. Turns out, you were all in the mood for some salad. You all then just eat and talk, enjoying each other’s company. But then Mai accidentally touches one of your scars causing you to hiss in pain.

“Oh my- I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to.” She says in a hurried apology. You wave her off, saying it was only an accident before Maki says something. “Hey, does it hurt when you touch them, or is it only when someone else does?” She asks, looking at you in curiosity. You shake your head. “ It only hurts when someone or myself touch them too.. roughly.” You explain.

She stares at your face as if she’s searching for something. And when she seems to have found what she was looking for, she carefully grabs your hand and starts to place small gentle kisses on your scars.

Mai, following Maki’s example, picks up your other hand and begins to place soft kisses on the scars on that hand too. You stare at the twins in temporary shock before you smile at them.

After a minute or two the both stop. “Sorry, just thought that would make you feel better.” Maki says rubbing the back of her neck.

“It didn’t hurt ,did it?” Mai asks looking at your face, trying to figure out if there was anything resembling pain. You shake your head, looking at both of them.’

“Thank you, both of you.” You say, softy.

This whole little situation came about because you were having financial issues and once she saw your flustered face she just wanted to see it more of it, hence how she became your sugar mommy.

She doesn’t really like fancy ass apartments or anything, but to make you feel special she’ll fork out for you.

She likes to take showers but you convinced her to take long and relaxing bubble baths with you

Every week you go to some new fancy restaurant for date night.

I just feel like we don’t appreciate Saya enough, so here are some of my headcanons if you and her were together. Nb reader

You think her eyes are insanely pretty. When you first told her she was a bit taken back, she just couldn’t get why you’d like her eyes. Especially when they turn red. But she appreciates it nonetheless.

She doesn’t really like to go out much, her idea of a perfect date is staying in, cuddling up with each other next to the fire place and just enjoying each other’s company.

She is very clingy, during winter. She treats you like her personal heater.

On the flip side, when it’s summer time you treat her like your personal cooler. So I’d say it’s about fair.

Her love language is words of affirmation as well as touch. I know I know, you might expect her to be cold and distant. But the truth is she just needed someone to break her walls down.

Anyway I’ll probably add more to this list when more come to me, but for now imma leave this with you.
